Any thoughts on this sound system? How does it compare to a more expensive such as Sonos which is 10 times the price?

There's a reason Sonos is 10 times the price.
We normally wouldn't consider a kogan branded electrical product but took a chance when we bought their DC fan. It was great so we bought another one. But for other electrical stuff, I am not so sure.
Looks like another person who is new to OZ bargain and has not seen the posts on Kogan's support and after sales issues….
230w might be peak power of all components combined, RMS is probably 10% of that, knowing Kogan! Obviously just guessing, but when the specs don't say it clearly, even what the Sub RMS power is, then I would stay away.
You can get name brand sets for not a lot more like Yamaha, Samsung.
Sonos are at the pricey end of the spectrum but for an easy to use multi room speaker set up they are the best. If you just want a 5.1 system for a single room there is comparable systems for much less.
Can you give me some examples please? I just want a 5.1 system for a single room.
I currently have a 5 years old Samsung soundbar K360 with wireless subwoofer and ideally wanted to add some rear speakers but looks like they have been discontinued, so I believe I will need to buy a whole new set, isn’t it?

The original product from AliExpress or wherever, without the Kogan logo, will be about $49 or something.

correct. usually new customer got attracted by pretty photos and low prices for the first 1-2 times then after that running away crying regretting.
look at this OP. so many people say dont, but i bet he/she will still go ahead buying because "cant go wrong and its cheap enough i set my expectaion low anyway"

If you can’t afford Sonos or don’t want to spend that much then just go to jb hifi and listen to a few setups. If your ears can’t tell the difference between the cheaper ones and the more expensive just buy the cheap ones from a reputable make.
