Just moved in and need help with the correct setup for NbN box and TV. Previous owner had Foxtel but I’m not using that.

Issue:
I don’t know which ports to use for
NBN and TV as NBN (photo 3) doesn’t activate NBN box. Technician appt. in 10 days but would be happy just with free TV.

I have a F antenna cable

    What's the actual question?

    1. External antenna socket
    2. Foxtel outlet
    3. NBN outlet
  • Not sure what help you need but call your internet provider and they'll run you through the installation step by step. It's part of the service.

  • Good photos as they are clear and in focus and the plate takes up 90% of the photo.

    But what is your problem?

  • Do you have an internet provider and a plan? Internet won't just work. Depending on NBN type you will likely need a modem / router of some sort.

For free to air tv just connect your antenna coax cable from your tv to socket 1. You may need an adaptor depending on the cable.

NBN (photo 3) doesn’t activate NBN box.

I have no idea what that means.

Reckon you're missing a HFC modem.

    • I plug in nbn box to port 3 and it doesn’t make the box bring up 4 solid lights. I’ve got the modem but it’s the nbn not working that’s the problem.

      • NBN is premise specific:
Have you contacted your internet provider and notified of change of address or are you expecting it to work because it did in your last residence?
Socket 1 straight into the TV should provide free to air channels …

        • If you plug box in it may take a while to “update” or some bs. Just moved and ours was taking a while to show 4 lights, unplugged power and back in and it worked a short time later
Having said that our nbn service was active/switched over 3 days before we moved in

      • Can you take a photo of your NBN box with the coaxial cable screwed in?

What steps did you take from when you move out of your old place to this new place?

Did you keep the same NBN provider?

Which NBN provider you are using?

        Login details correct?

  • CALL YOUR RSP for help.

    • Technician appt. in 10 days .

Based on the replies, I don't think the RSP understand the problem over the phone.

Not necessarily. If you look at the info OP put in the original post & the photo's and put yourself in the position of an RSP help desk person what would you do?

        • RSP helpdesk would know answers to some of my questions above

Btw if OP calls me, I won't able to see the photos. Just saying.

  • The plate in picture 1 may be an antenna connector for your TV.

I'm not sure why the Foxtel plate has three sockets - it could be a number of reasons. However, if you don't have a Foxtel account and a Foxtel set top box, it's not relevant.

The NBN-provided HFC modem plugs into the plate in picture 3. You need to have an account with an internet provider and also a router for it to work. Which internet provider have you signed up with? Do they offer a router?

    • I'm not sure why the Foxtel plate has three sockets

Satellite - that's normal for Satellite.

  • The third port on the foxtel (the one that is different) might be the free to air tv antenna if the one in thr first photo doesn’t work
