3 Bottles of Quercetin - NZ$139 + NZ$12.95 Delivery (~A$142.41) @ Herbal New Zealand

Quercetin is a flavonoid extracted from Plants with anti-inflammatory properties that acts as a powerful antioxidant to fight free radicals that cause oxidation to cells.

Quercetin by itself is not very well absorbed into the body, so we have combined it with vitamin C which greatly improves absorption, while at the same time also amplifies quercetin immune boosting properties.

Apologies for hijacking this post but the antioxidant hype is a bugbear of mine.

Ages ago, we found that reducing free radicals in mice reduced cancer etc. This didn’t work for humans. We have similar but not identical biology.

Once a few research papers started saying “less cancer”, the supplement industry jumped onboard and make a killing from antioxidants. They make the human body sound easy/simple though clever marketing - it isn’t.

Free radicals have also been associated with stronger immune systems/immune function. A quick Google found this:

“Free radicals play an important role, since they contribute to the heart being able to pump more blood in stress-filled situations,"

If you’re taking antioxidants because free radicals are bad, please stop. It’s not that simple. If you’re taking this because a medical professional said “hey consider taking this”, then go for it.

      Agree with this.

You are a lot better off buying quercetin phytosome off amazon, which is a ton more bio-available than regular quercetin.

Normal bio-availability of quercetin is around 2%. For a 500mg pill, that's only 10mg uptake.

Quercetin phytosome is around 20x more bio-available. Which means a 30mg pill equates to 10mg of uptake.

This stuff goes for around $13 on amazon,

For covid, this stuff is good to have on hand for whenever first symptoms start.
      https://www.amazon.com.au/Quercetin-Phytosome-Vitamin-Zinc-C…

Start with 1, and work your way up to 4 max. This also has zinc, which is vital. You can add some zinc lozenges as well to up zinc intake as well. The pills smell, but if you have them during food, their is no aftertaste/burp taste.

Addendum, I use the Life Extensions brand prophylactically, 1 a day, with small amounts of zinc, c, d, and nac.

Anyway, here is a study using quercetin phytosome for covid of 1000mg per day. Pretty damn good results.
      https://www.dovepress.com/possible-therapeutic-effects-of-ad…

If your wondering why I recommend quercetin… Well, there are other zinc ionophores… but two have been banned for use with covid in Australia (though for both, it is not the drugs primary function).

And this is just a supplement, so no script required. It's also preferable to egcg, as that can be toxic to some people. And personally, I think it's preferable to ivm or hcq, because it doesn't have any major side effects, and is well tolerated by most ppl.

Btw, if you wanna know what a zinc ionophores does… well a zinc ionophore strips zinc of its natural charge, which allows it to penetrate into cells (increasing intracellular zinc). From their it will disrupt the viral replication process RdRp (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase).

This is a similar thing to what the new merck and pfizer covid pills do, as well as remdesivir (though that is given way way way too late in the viral replication process).

If you disrupt/reduce the viral replication process early enough, you can nip covid in the bud before it ends up at the 'go to hospital' stage.

      • Well all that may be true, but the study is more of a preliminary one with no control group, and I think they used outpatients.

        • +1

While it was not a placebo controlled randomised trial, they did have a "SC" (standard care) group for comparison at the time. 2 ppl died in that group, and it had a 22.6% hospitalisation rate compared to the QP group (quercetin + standard care) of 8.5%.

As for using outpatients, that is when you should be using viral disrupter medication. If you let the disease develop to full blown covid before hospitalisation, your hope of recovery is very poor, especially given all they really want to do when you get to hospital is give your oxygen, remdesivir, and put you on a vent.

It's not a perfect study for sure, but it does show that their is benefit, and the reason for that benefit is known (zinc ionophores increase intracellular zinc).

@metalslaw: you've done your research. it's a shame we can't get treatments and prevention for covid here other than the experimental mrna injections (not going to call it a vaccine because it isn't)
