Dyson lawyers would like a word.

    • +15

They want to know why they are not charging $800 for the same item.

      • +3

Kmart sells them, $89 middle and $59 model, op one looks nicer. Is the Dyson patent finished?

    Ion, not iron…

EDIT: should add that the description on the page itself also needs correction

    • +9

It produce negative Iron, silly. meaning no iron is being produced.

      • +5

If it comes into contact with real iron it could cause the destruction of the universe!

      • +1

Negative iron…You mean it sucks iron out of the air? So my clothes will forever be wrinkled?!

    • +3

Dewd, this is clearly perfect for people who lack iron in their diets.

      • +3

I thought it was for people who have too much iron.

VAYU translated in Indian - Hindi means Air/ Wind. Clever name. Curious if these are made in India !
If so then wait till made in China ones show up at half this price soon 😂

      Kabootar = Pigeon

    • I think labour cost in India is cheaper than Chinese nowadays?

      • +1

Slowly infrastructures moving. The issue isn't just labour costs but skill and machinery required.

I been using the BigW one for 80 bucks, works great

  • Which is more powerful, bladed fan or non-bladed ones?

    • +11

If you put your finger in the fan, the bladed one would be more powerful!

      • +2

Hilarious. This is kind I was reading comments for

        • Glad I didn't disappoint 😆

  • When you see a non-Dyson bladeless fan being sold it's only then that you realise "how stupid was I for thinking that the Dyson was worth that amount of money?"

    • Dyson is legendary for their marketing. Basically made vacuums and other household items into Veblen goods.

    • +2

Dyson spends millions on R&D. Don't confuse it for other companies that just reap their innovations and can sell it for cheap.

      • Dyson found a 30 year old Toshiba patent, dressed it up fancy and slapped on a high price tag. The copies can't be stopped but that hasn't stopped Dyson from making money.

I think any industrial engineer can tell you, it's takes a lot more effort getting a product to market, by just copying old patents.

        • Dyson succeeds where Toshiba failed. They have developed it into a beautiful and quality product. And so they deserve the profits. Nothing wrong with making money when you work hard my friend.

      • Can't blame people for copying and enhancing, in this case the enhancement is pricing 😉

    • I would be stupid to think all products made equal

I am just here for the comments!

    • +1

Me too.. Doesn't disappoint but nothing tops the Hungry Jacks new coupon (price rise) melts.

  • Is this like more like a desk fan or like a proper pedestal fan replacement ?

  • The silver one is at the same price $89. https://www.pcmarket.com.au/vayu-bladeless-fan-silver
    (edit: OOS now)

3 metre range seems pretty shit

  • I had one of similar design (not Dyson) and they are really noisy. They are not suitable for sleeping. I had to return for a refund.

  • Couldn't find any review on the fan but I bought one anyway.
