I’m in favour of moving Australia Day to the 31st

I think he meant so the discount would be 31 percent off…

Some people are so quick to get on their soapbox, they miss the obvious.

    • Yeah much better than moving it to the 1st :)

  • Annoying. Just paid full price for my gt2000

Very happy with my Mizuno Wave Rider 25, although the knit version (which I have) is reduced to $120 at The Iconic.
Good price for Brooks Ghost 14 with the coupon here.

      • +1

Thanks, I'm having a look. Haven't been in Wave Riders for about 8 years and Brooks even longer.

      • +1

I tried the Wave Riders awhile ago and they gave me plantar fasciitis on my right foot (twice) so I’ve stuck with ASICS Nimbus. Even using the Wave Riders just for long walks also brought the plantar fasciitis back.

Just sharing my experience. Each runner has a different running style and shoe preference.

        • I have some Nimbus Lites (~200km), and they're ok- I'd get another pair of Novablasts (~900km) but there's only one boring colour (not my size either) and it makes me sad. Maybe I might try some Magic Speeds…

        • I guess that’d be something to put you off a brand completely. I read they made a lot of changes to the WR25’s but they’re the first pair of Mizuno I’ve owned. Regardless, they’ve become pretty much the perfect daily trainer for me and I find them very versatile.

Saucony Endorphin Speed or Pro. Good for 5km to half marathon. Pro have carbon plate.
I have the Speeds for training and Vaporflys for racing.
Previously have used New Balance Fuelcells, New Balance 1500s, Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% etc and I rate the Sauconys above all of those

      • Have some Pros, not sure what to think yet- only done about 50km on the track and road. They're my first go in carbons so no point of comparison yet. Supposedly the Pros come near the Nike but without the pricetag.

      • I am using both Vaporfly and Endo pro. I was really surprised by the pro, really good shoes for the price. I still prefer my vaporfly but pro are amazing shoes to keep them in rotation, with this price you will not regret them.

      • Both firm shoes but the pros are too firm. I prefer the speeds

      • saucony pros are race day shoes. you wont get much wear out of them at all. Speeds can be everyday shoes. Also saucony shop runs a lot of promos and coupon codes, so you dont have to jump on this rw sale head first without doing more research.

Seems to stack with sale items.

    • Can confirm. Just put through an order. Altra Escalante 2.5 Mens black are on sale for $170, then down to ~$125 with the code.

  • +4

Hoka Clifton 8 for $125 is good value

    • I thought paying $157 for them last week was a good deal from The Running Warehouse.
Tempted to buy another pair thou.

    • Yep reckon it's time I finally try some hoka! Can anyone advise on the fit/feel? I presently do most my miles in a US11 ASICS gt2000

      • +1

cant compare to ASICs but my New Balance and my Hoka are the same fit (that is, same size and same width - which for me is 2E; the standard size for both are too narrow in the toe).

Hoka running shoes feel weird at first due to the level of cushioning but you quickly get used to them. Not sure I would use them for rough trail running (the height of the sole just worries me if you are landing unevenly), but street and smooth trails they are great (although Hoka have trail running shoes, so there is that option if you need it)

        • Cheers for the thoughts :) yeah mainly keen as a soft shoe for running on sealed surface. Would like some lighter duty trail shoes than my salomon speedcross too though…

    • works out to be close to 1/2 price.

    • +1

ended up biting the bullet and going for the cliftons.
Reviews look good. Exactly what I want (solid daily trainer/long run shoe which is durable)
TBH I think it's the most I've spent on running shoes. (I'm a super tightarse with shoes)

  • +1

    No Nike seems strange?

    • +1

It will be some sort of arrangement with Nike Australia to supply/not supply certain places. They are stocked in the US runningwarehouse store…

    • +1

Nike going direct to customer, I think will see less and less in other stores

        • What sucks is that there are next to no physical stores to try a lot of shoes. I went to rebel and athletes foot, they have a very poor selection and some brand's are missing altogether. Non Nike store's only have Pegasus and one other react model. The Nike store had 3 or 4 models. I guess order online and send it back is the only option. Nearest running warehouse is 40km from me.

  • Any recommendations for something that can help with ankle supination? I also have wideish feet.

    • +1

Asics GT-2000 4E are my go to shoe, comes in 2E or 4E width. I have been using Asics for years because of my ankles and use to roll all the time prior. There was a show called Asics Foundations I used to use that would have helped you but long gone now :(. Was recommended the GT-2000 due to similar features of the foundation.

I just purchased another set then from this sale, $152 with postage due to just being under the $150 mark.

      • Thanks very much, super helpful!

  • Any idea for a neutral speed shoe (5-10k) but also forgiving when one gets tired and slow toward the end of a run? More or less a mid-forefoot strike.

    • +1

      saucony endorphin speed?

      • Did cross my mind but I'm not a fan of the 38mm stack height, some say it feels unstable.

    • +2

      NB 880 v11

They have them for 110 with ausday code. Great shoe for the money.

      • Agreed very happy with the 880 series

    • NB fuelcell rebel maybe, but some feedback that the upper isn't all that durable. Endorphin speeds feel OK to run at in slower paces when tired I've found or you start heel striking more, but are best at faster paces. They definitely ride on the firm side.

Men's Saucony Ride 13 for $66.56 if anyone's interested (limited sizes)

Went to their Vic store to buy shoes, guys are so knowledgeable and friendly…fan of the running warehouse..

  • Hmm the email I got says it's only on performance shoes. So it's discount on all shoes then?

Any recommendations for a shoe that's good for standing all day? One that looks clean/minimalist design, and isn't too loud/colourful would be preferred.

    • Are you just standing or is there walking?

A lot of nurses like Hoka shoes (bondi/clifton/arahi) or the Brooks Ghost (source: in law who is a nurse). However I suspect any of the super cushioned shoes will be similar. If you want something with a bit more stability, the Brooks Glycerin GTS and the Asics Kayano are worth a look.

Whether you can get something that isnt too loud…might not be all that feasible in the running shoe market! Also keep in mind that running shoes are usually not water proof and offer little to no foot protection if you are at risk of dropping something on them. Some are not super grippy on smooth wet surfaces (like tiles)

  • Any recommendations for a minimalist shoe for gym and walking? Been using NB minimus trail these past few years

  • +6

I just want a shoe that tastes like real milk..

    • mate, that's going to ruin the taste of your beer

Any recommendations for flat foot running shoes ? bonus if there are any in wide sizes too

  • They should have a sausage sizzle

  • Thanks.
I dont know anything about shoes but i got some $220 ones for $73

  • Any recommendations for men's running shoes? I have a pair of ASICS Gel Kayano 27, not sure if should I try other brands this time. thanks.

  • Does anyone know if they're running this promotion instore as well? Love to grab a pair of Gel Kayanos but they're out in my size.

  • Thanks. got the adrenaline GTS 22. currently using Kayano 27..

Picked up a pair of Fresh Foam 1080v11 - NB. Anyone had experience with these for running 5-10km ?

    • +3

I’ve run using 1080v10. I enjoyed them - Not for speed training but decent and somewhat firm cushioning for long slow runs.

      • +2

I've got a pair of 1080v10 too and love them so am picking up a pair of 1080v11. They are the best pair of runners I have worn so far. Note, I typically run 7-8 km and don't do fast!

    • +1

I've done around 300km in my 1080v11s and absolutely love them for longer slow runs (anything up to a half marathon distance).

They hold up okay for faster runs but there are certainly better speed shoe options out there at around this price point (personally, I'm a huge fan of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2s for speed work).

Note: I've read online that the fit of the v10s is quite different to the v11s and some have reported heel slip issues with the latter. Wasn't something I noticed personally but it might be a good idea for others considering this shoe to try them on in-store before biting the bullet.

    • +1

Love the v10s. I used to get hip flexor pain with my old shoes but haven't had any pain with these. Also feel like recovery is much much easier with these shoes.

  • Great deal, thanks

  • I've currently wear Hoka Clifton 1s that got re released a couple of years ago. Can't run tarmack anymore but really enjoy trails. Can any suggest a good trail running shoe.

    • +1

if you like Hokas the challenger ATRs are a good place to start. Speedgoats are also good if your trails are more rugged/technical

  • Great value. Bought 2 pairs for kids. Thanks OP.

  • My last few pairs have been Brooks Adrenaline. I like the shoe - except that the heel wears out pretty quickly - the tread is totally worn away well into the white cushioning when the rest of the outer sole has a lot of tread left. I haven't measured how many km's it takes for the outer sole to wear down to the white cushioning. I'm about 100 kg and a heel striker. Does anyone else with the same experience - and any recommendations for a good stability shoe that would have better wearing heels?

    • Same weight and an overpronator and I have Brooks Beast, they do the same but one of the few running shoes that suit me. By the time the heel is worn I usually find cushioning in the rest of the sole is reduced too, so buying another pair isn't so bad.

  • Have always had such positive experiences with this store that I can't help buy stuff when there's a sale. This time round I'm trialing HOKA Arahi 5s. Can't hurt to have another pair in the rotation, can it?
