[XB360, XB1, XSX] Spec Ops: The Line - $10.09 @ Xbox

600

Finally instead of selling for the ridiculous $50.45 this almost 10 years old game, you can now buy it for the more reasonable $10.09. Just bought it and started to play on XBX after reading all the raving reviews.

Great game! The Gameplay is fairly straightforward but the story is great.

10 years later I still think about the story. So good

Same here, unforgettable story. Playing on the hardest difficulty was a proper good challenge too

Damn. I remember doing the beta for this. Was a solid game, although didn’t really gain much traction

I think the narrative and themes were very mature and probably put a lot of people off. It certainly wasn't the light hearted action shooter I was expecting as I knew nothing about it going in yet it was one of my most memorable gaming experiences ever and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take on the themes involved.

I think it was a boring and repetitive 3d person shooter. The story was decent (but not especially brilliant) but it never felt like the gameplay was worth trudging through to get all of.

Edit: I did finish the game (and see multiple endings) and felt like it wasn’t really worth the effort

Incredible game. Gameplay is a bit by-the-numbers but amazing story; I envy anyone getting to play this blind for the first time.

  • Gentlemen, Welcome to Dubai.

I wish I could play this game for the first time again!

    • I could say the same for Witcher 3 and a lot of other games

Just finished on this rainy Sunday afternoon. Awesome game, highly recommended for this price.
Also they should release a remastered version, it's the new rage anyway. This game looks so good it deserves a complete facelift for the new gen consoles.

Severely underrated game and one of the only games i've gone back to complete for a second time. The story is A-grade

You can get a Steam PC key for ~$2.75 over at Eneba, that might be useful for some.

I just never really got into this one. Heard everybody rave about it, tried it and it was just a bit meh. Maybe the story was great, but the game didn't interest me enough to play it long enough to get invested in the story. Possibly because I got it from PS+ way back in the day on PS3. When a game is free (well, $2 or $3 or whatever the cost of a PS+ sub is when spread across the number of games you get), there's probably less incentive to push through if it doesn't grab me, I just kind of shrug and move on to the next thing. If I'd paid $50+ I probably would have been more motivated to stick at it in order to get my money's worth.

I pushed through to the end, didn’t think it was worth it. Definitely didn’t live up to the hype.

Great game with an amazingly deep story. If you're of a more intellectual bent, I can highly recommend games academic Brendan Keogh's book Killing is Harmless, which is a great deep-dive on the game and its themes.

Reviews are divisive, here’s my counterpoint. I respectfully disagree with yours. I think the story is pretty overrated, and not really that “intellectual”.

The story would’ve been good enough if the gameplay wasn’t so generic and boring. But as it was, it felt like a trudge to get to the end, which left me wondering where all the hype came from.

“War is bad, and the rules of war are not enforced” basically sums up the “brilliance” of the storyline tbh.

The ending is amazing! Of course depending on which route you go…

    Great game.
