Doesnt look easy to open …..

    • +3

It can be done fairly easily. The first time, take your time, but subsequent times, it is much easier. Look on YouTube.

      • +1

Subsequent also need screwdrivers to pry?

        • Yes but it gets easier each time. I've has mine over a year or so. Opening it does not take long with screwdriver with wide head. Two lifts on opposite sides.

      • -1

        Looks hard even on YouTube

        • It may look difficult, but if you have two relatively small flat head screw drivers, you should be fine. That's all I used.

      • +4

If open a bottle to refill needs to look up on YouTube, that says something about it.

      • Yes first time was hardest. I nearly broke mine, but than it was fine after that. I have 2 of these and they seem to be working perfectly fine. Design is simple and practical.

    • My ex has one of those, I was able to get it open to refill but wouldn't buy one myself when you can get one with a screw-on bottle

    • Drill small hole ,and use funnel to refill it.

  • What's the economy of using this compared to say dettol?

    • +8

This is for those who are looking for xiaomi full set bonus (battery bank, vaccum, pen, camera, home sensors, backpack, underwear and condom).

      • +4

        Out of those you mentioned:

Power bank: Very good and affordable, going strong after several years

Vacuum: I recall a post here, with a comparison video comparing it to the dyson equivilent. Xiaomi came out on top because the comparison was completely rigged (things like having it hold something solid in place, but the dyson has a gap for the connector to go, so it can't form an airtight connection with a flat object without an attachment connected)

        Pen: Fairly average

Camera: Tried to get their action camera, but seems they stopped producing it, and now costs a lot more

Home sensors: Good and cheap, and their door sensors last forever before needing batteries replaced

        Backpack: Surprisingly well built

        Underwear: Comfortable and cheap

        Condom: Uhh, what?

+20 social credit if you collect the whole xiaomi set

One most recent review (19 Dec 2021) stated it's still a PITA to refill - has the design changed since a month ago to accommodate easier refilling?

    • +3

It's not really a big issue. Once you do it once, it is easy.

      • +1

Different strokes for different folks, but pressing a catch is easy, going to the tool drawers to get a screwdriver isn't easy

        • I just use a butter knife.

  • +2

Doesn't last long, mine died after 6 months

    • +2

Mine is 2.5 years old and still going strong.

    • I've had 3 of these for over 2 years. Still works well. No issue with removing bottle lid to refill but it does require a screwdriver.

  • +4

I don't refill the soap by prying it.

Use a size 5.5 drill bit and drill a hole in the top and refill it using a syringe. You can then use the white plastic thing it came with to plug the hole.

    • +3

That's sounds like a PITA. I'm using this one since march last year and it's super easy to refill https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0892QGR29/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt…

      • Yep got similar (after 8 weeks) from AE. Cheaper and easier to use models if you go searching.

      • Interesting, that linked model can run off a cheap USB cell charger.

Hows the soap dosing, spot on? Quality alright?

        • +1

I haven't tried the usb plug but I've only changed batteries once (and that's because I first put in random batteries I found). Has 2 settings, one short one a bit longer, I normally do 2 squirts regardless. Foams up very well when you get the soap ratio right, but too much soap then it gets a bit bubbly.

      • How was the plastic quality? I see photos looks amazing. Is it cheap white plastic or good one like xiaomi?

        • I dno what the xiaomi one feels like, but this feels like pretty good plastic, not light and flimsy. It's fallen over a few times when I was refilling and it's still working

    • +1

This thing isn’t nearly cheap enough for me to be drilling my own holes in it so it can complete its primary function.

      • +1

It's the soap bottle that you drill in to.

Or just pop the top off the soap bottle like the rest of us. :)

  • +1

Mine one died after 4 months
Refill takes hell lot of time

  • +1

    This looks hard to refill

Anyone has the newer version with temp lcd, usbc charging, refillable casette for around same price?

    • The shipping is crazy but yeah i dont expect good one cost less than aud 25

    • I own one and works well.

    • I have 2 of the old model and got 2 of the new ones. The difference between the two seem that the old one dispenses much quicker than the new one, maybe im used to the older model, but the new one takes longer to detect your hand and takes longer to dispense, probably 1-2 secs longer, it is easier to refill tho. There are also 3D printed replacement lids for old bottles you can find online.

Bought this one $30 a month ago
    looks better than Xiaomi
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B097T7FHWZ/

    • You're right. It does.
      Edit: aren't Xiomai claiming it?
      https://is.gd/PjnNFC

      • "Note: that this product is a Xiaomi ecological chain product and does not contain the Xiaomi LOGO". My instruction booklet didn't mention xiaomi at all either. Sounds sus. Still a great dispenser though.

    • +1

How is it going for you so far? It does look better and easier to refill as well.

      • +1

        so far so good.
        it's easier to refil

    • Yeah I got the same one off amazon when it was on sale for AUD $29.74 . https://www.amazon.com.au/Waterproof-Countertop-Rechargeable…
Much easier to refill than my old xiaomi, this one is literally just a twist and the whole bottom reservoir is open and the size of a glass of water. I use supermarket bought palmolive foaming soap as refills for the convenience. Foams up perfectly. plus it has a built in battery instead of needing rechargables. Plus better controls. The 'long' pour setting is plenty to get my hands fully covered using the covid-safe 20 seconds method that got drilled into us last ….decade? I bought two more after the first one, and friends that have visited have liked them so much they've also bought them. My old Xiaomi got pushed up the back of a cupboard, likely never to see the light of day again.

    • Thanks for this. Got it yesterday based on your recommendation and have bought a second one. Cheers

  • I've had 3 slightly different Xiaomi soap dispensers - only 1 of them currently works.

  • Seems like it's waitlist now

  • how about this: https://www.amazon.com.au/simplehuman-Sensor-Polished-Stainl…

    so many reviews…

    Is this a 👊🏻 ?

    • Won't be able to afford to fill it.

      • reckon, it better dispense lube as well for that price

    • "Clog free"

Glad to see that, their earlier models would sometimes get partially clogged then not have the power to push out the clog, requiring almost complete disassembly to fix. This affected one that was in active daily use.

  • Why not just buy a foaming hand wash at the supermarket and when empty refill it with whatever liquid soap you like?

    • A handsfree dispenser means you won't leave dirt on the soap dispenser. e.g. grease, oil, raw chicken juices.

I refill this dispenser with foaming liquid soap from woolies. You can also dilute normal liquid soap instead.

      • +1

Fair enough. I didn't realise it was hands-free. Speaking of which, I find it extremely frustrating that so many Councils appear to be too stingy to fit touchless soap dispensers and faucets at highly trafficked public bathrooms (such as at Flinders Street, Melbourne), especially during this pandemic.

    • I don't mind a bit of automation here and there. I've been through 4 on ebay (f,ing junk $10-20) and now have https://www.kmart.com.au/product/automatic-soap-dispenser/36… . These don't leak through the batteries, so no just junking the unit but the 4xbatteries but they squirt soap on to themselves.

Was gonna buy these ones but can only buy 1 unit per order + shipping. Once again 👊🏻

      • The Kmart one looks like a pleasure toy

  • Not sure why people would to buy this one when there are better ones available for similar price. Have been using this one and loving it as its better in every way.
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002616771994.html?spm=a2…

    • Lol tells the temp as well. Not sure what that has to do with soap dispensing tho.

    • as its better in every way.

      Maybe not design. ;)

      But yes, design is subjective.

It's not actually by Xiaomi themselves.

How long do the batteries last? Is it a hassle to have to bring it to a wall socket every now and then to recharge?

      • Bought in Oct last year. Recharge once and last till now. But that is one person using it. And I can use my favourite soap.

      • Bought couple of minutes ago. I am expecting the batteries to last 3-6 months using it 20-30 times a day.

    • kewl it's got a temp sensor. How long have you had this puppy?

If you say it works, i'll give it a crack.

No leaks and what not right ? (see my whinging posts)

    • i have this on wishlist . just waiting for SG to fix its aliexpress tracking for 100% coinback

  • I saw the image and thought this was Issey Miyake

  • I bought this Blitzwolf 300ml Rechargeable about a year ago
    https://banggood.onelink.me/zMT7/acfdc6f

And I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and functioning.

Easy to open and refill, it works like any other bottle just twist to open or close the top. The battery lasts a few months for us between charges. Dosage wise there are 2 settings, we use the larger dose which is perfect.

I also own another foaming dispenser but nowhere near this good. The dosage is small, pump doesn't work well the foam only comes out half the time, the bottle top doesn't attach properly so it keeps falling out.

Blitzwolf is a great unit, reading comments in the thread now I'm gonna buy another Blitzwolf and throw out the other one.

    • Discontinued, link shows another product.

      • Pretty sure it's the same one rebranded

  • Still have a detol one from 3 years ago which works great and easy to refill. It was like $12

  • -1

Why is this better than those Palmolive foaming dispensers you can buy at Colesworth?

Esp for home use I don't see the point of having another thing that needs charging. Particularly when you can't adjust the amount of soap coming out each time.

    • It's adjustable and needs charging only couple of times a year.

  • +1

There is one on AliExpress that is easy to open and looks like this. USB 3.0 plug too.

    Just over half the price.

    It's been great so far.

    • +1

Any chance you could please link your one? Thanks.

  • -4

For $28 I can buy 28 full bottles of normal hand soap. It would last me ~14 years- more than what I can say about this one
