I have one of these, bought it around September last year before my kids went overseas for a couple of months. Here's my review:
- Build quality is decent for the price, screen has a lot of flex but as long as you close it from the centre it's fine. Screen hinges are nice and solid.
- Screen colour and contrast is fairly good for a midrange laptop.
- Keyboard is fine, nothing special but not bad. Doesn't flex too much.
Performance is extremely good, will run basically any current game at high/ultra settings.
Battery life is absolutely woeful. Absolute max 3 hours if you're doing light browsing. 30mins max gaming time on battery. This is not unusual for a gaming laptop but buyer beware.
- On the default power plan the fans are quite loud under any load. If you switch to the 'quiet' power plan this solves the problem but you lose ~8% performance per 3dMark Firestrike benchmark.
Overall I think it's a decent buy as long as you don't care about the terrible battery life.
