Wonder what the lockpicking lawyer has to say about this one

“What I have for you today is the worst way to secure anything of any value”

      My thoughts exactly!

Here is a different fingerprint lock that they pick, Bypassing the $100 TappLock One+ Fingerprint Padlock

      • haha the company responded to the video

        "Tapplock - 1 year ago
Wow! Shout out to LPL for finding this exploit. Working on a fix with magnetic shielding, will be back."

as long as it doesn't say "high security" it won't annoy him that much

  • It's a lock where you leave the key attached to it.

Unless you remember to wipe it down after each use in which case a key is probably more convenient.

It's hard to imagine anything sillier than connecting locks to a wireless network but here it is.

    • Don't think it's network connected.

Should just be storing all the fingerprints locally.

    • Probably more like if you left an outline on the key on a post it note. I don't know what's involved in turning a fingerprint mark into something that could unlock this, but I'm guessing there would be easier ways to break into whatever you're trying to protect and the chances of someone lifting your print is pretty low. I suppose it all depends on what level of protection you want to apply to your situation. For example I have a storage cage in the secure car park under my building where I'm storing low value items. It's monitored by CCTV and there's a conceriege on site during working hours so this would be adequate for me and it would mean I wouldn't find myself having to go upstairs to get the key.

If movies are anything to go by all you need is some sticky tape and a short montage.

"I'm guessing there would be easier ways to break into whatever you're trying to protect" - like bolt cutters?! The metal ring looks pretty small…

    • A small magnet is quicker than a finger.

      • Do you know whether all of these types of locks suffer this shortcoming or just some?
