I do not recommend any of these cheap hollow shell type low-grade stainless steel knives.
Get a good quality Chef/gyotu knife and a paring/short slicer. You really only need these two knives for the majority of your prep.
Quality is extremely poor. Dont buy even if it is half price.
I got a $2 stainless knife ( Knockoff Global ) from Big W. I have an original Global chefs knife (about $120) bought circa 2007.
I abuse both through the dishwasher etc.
Yes the global is nicer but not $118 nicer.
For noobs these are ok but look into the $2 ones.
I have about 8 because I dishwash all off mine and need more for when they are being washed.

Right. Each to their own - a sharp knife is a good knife, that is the main thing.
@kickling: I think so. It's worth learning how to sharpen also.
I recently got a free Masterchef knife from Coles. Not bad.
@Naigrabzo: I gave some of those free knives away to a friend … they are not bad. Better than any of these Wiltshire knives.
@kickling: I am going to stress test them with my dishwasher routine. They feel nicer than the original Global in my hand. Hefty.
