Cheap Microwave Recommendations?

Hi,

Shopping around for a microwave that I will use for a year and then sell again… any recommendations?

Don't want a shit one that doesn't heat evenly

Around $80-$130 ideal price

How is the Kmart 28L/30L ($85/$129) microwave? How are factory seconds was looking at this Samsung 23L one?

Or should I just pay more and get a better one under $200?

Cheers

  • Samsung/ Sharp / LG they all good or check your self in https://www.canstarblue.com.au/appliances/microwaves/

  • Buying a Kmart electronic is a false economy. Worth getting something decent to last.

    • Actually one of the Kmart ones was rated highly by Choice. I think even they were surprised. My subscription has lapsed so I can’t see which one.

Actually not. Anko Model $48 and 85% as recommended by Choice.

    • Microwave is like such a old tech, don't think Kmart one that bad. It just brand name comes with added features.
Plus, Microwave losses enegy over time, doesn't matter its Kmart or Panasonic, they meant to be replace after years of service.

      • Its probably just the 'newer' appliances which are most probably dialled in with planned obsolescence.

My parents are still rocking the Panasonic microwave that they bough around 1990ish. Even though its been relegated to the outside kitchen, it still sees heavy daily use (because old school asians dont cook inside) and is still chugging away like a champ. Never had a repair or nothing.

The pretty boy Samsung inside the house on the other hand has gone through its 2nd light globe and just feels 'weak' overall compared to the panasonic despite both being 1kw

        • I'm talking about the strength of microwave itself diminished over time.

Well I got the 28L Kmart one a couple years ago. Works fine. you've said you only want to use for a year, so why spend more?

  • Look for 1000W Microwave, otherwise you will find things your want to Microwave will say Microwave for X Minutes based on 1000W and you will constantly have to re-guess how much longer to Zap it for.

  • Kmart Anko 20L recommended by Choice.

    85%

    $48 bucks

  • My Anko microwave heats up food way faster and more evenly than my Smeg unit. The only probably is that it looks too ugly.

  • Any other recommendations? Otherwise will go with the cheap kmart one
