  • I haven't received any single voucher yet. I claimed the codes on the 31st of Jan

  • I'm giving up. Claimed codes for my final few after a 3rd resubmission of them two weeks ago and heard nothing since.

  • I submitted the receipt almost one month ago, and just received this email today:

Great news, we’ve received your claim for Buy & Win with BIC! Here is your $50 Weber voucher reward to use towards the purchase of a Weber BBQ.

To redeem your voucher reward please follow the steps below. The value of your voucher reward will be deducted from the final total of your purchase.

Step 1 – Go to https://www.weber.com/AU/en/barbecues/ and choose your Weber BBQ.

Step 2 – Complete the below form with the details of your Weber BBQ choice, and delivery address.

Step 3 – Send an email containing the completed form back to us at [email protected]

Step 4 – A representative from the Buy & Win with BIC team will be in touch to request the payment for the remaining balance, being the cost of your Weber BBQ less the $50 Weber voucher reward. The bank details will be shared for the payment to be made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Step 5 – You will receive confirmation of your payment for your Weber BBQ, less the $50 Weber voucher reward, to your nominated email address.

Looks like I'm returning the lighter. What a total failure of a promo.

    • At least you don’t need to email credit card details anymore. The making shit up as you go along approach is beginning to bear fruit.

    • +1

Exactly what I've got. I figured that if you've submitted your lighter receipts later that week after 13th of Jan, you won't be getting the instant voucher, instead you will be administered to pick a BBQ with $50 off via email. No question that this is happening. If you haven't received gift cards by now mostly certainly you will get just the email.

      • +1

Surely it's not legal to do a bait and switch like this. I'm sure their T&C allows them to change the competition at any time though… but if they can do this, what's stopping any other brand from dragging their feet on a promo and swapping out a great prize at the last minute for a more dismal one?

    • +2

      Definite failure

Got the same despite the promotion still indicating gift voucher when I submitted the claim weeks ago.
Can't be bothered arguing their stupidity or blatant advertising misinformation though :/

    • Got the same emails today. Get stuffed Bic.

      • Ditto. Has anyone tried to email BIC to challenge this and claim that we entered under the original T&Cs?

        • Probably will end up in non response.
If you are after one of their portable charcoal range I guess it's still worth it?

  • Yep got the same email. Ironic thing it says: Here is your $50 Weber voucher reward to use towards the purchase of a Weber BBQ. Where is the $50 voucher???
This is complete bullshit. Also, weren't the T&C of voucher to be used at Weber online or instore and now has to go through BIC.

  • +1

Is anyone who didn't get in early going to get one of the portable charcoal ones to try and get something out of this sh*tshow? I'm contemplating getting the Go Anywhere one for $90 for use as a hibachi style grill, although don't know if its actually any better for using it for this over my normal kettle. Interested if anyone has an opinion on this.

    • +3

Go Anywhere has a cult following, well worth it for $90. Check out the Facebook group for inspiration on how to use it.

    • +1

Yup. With a rotisserie kit and riser I am using it more than my kettle now.

  • +1

Ok i guess the saga ends here for me.

Received 3x gift cards exactly 3 days apart from each other and then started receiving the 'return form' emails, which corresponded with my initial registrations on the 13th & 18th Jan.

Made 3 separate orders on the Weber site as I didn't want to risk losing the balance like some users experienced; Precision Grill Tongs & Spatula Set, Weber Q Pizza Stone, Easy-Serve Pizza Tray, Weber Q Grill Pan and a Cookbox Scraper for $11.80 out of pocket.

God help us if we encounter another mess of a promotion run by these people.

  • +4

I feel so misled by this promotion. Like most others, I've decided to return all the lighters and persue my complaint with Coles head office and lodge a complaint with fair trading. The least I can do is to make things more difficult for them.

    • +1

Will be returning mine too. I also put a complaint to fair trading and the gambling & racing commission. Probably won't get anything out of it but just wanted to make their life harder

      • does one need to retain a receipt to return the lighter to Coles?

    • Does Coles have a time limit of when you can return an item?

  • +1

    Hi all

I would recommend to make a complain to ACCC if you feel you have been mislead by the seller. Might be a good idea to report TLC Marketing as well separately.
    Name of business:
    BIC Australia Pty ltd
    ABN:
    88004304830
    ACN:
    004304830

    https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/report-a…

The wording provided by nkrdlyk (above is pretty good to use as a template)

    • Doubtful it will do anything but made the complaint regardless.

Also wrote a scathing email back to Bic.

    • Done - even though I didn't get screwed over as hard as others.

  • Process once a BBQ has been chosen:

Thank you for returning your Weber Voucher Reward form.

To finalise your redemption of the Weber $50 Voucher via a Weber BBQ purchase, please send the remaining balance of the Weber BBQ via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the bank account below quoting the Payment Reference details supplied below.

Once the funds have been received and cleared, we can then process your Weber BBQ order.

    Bank Details
    Account Name:

TLC Marketing Worldwide Australia & NZ Pty Ltd

    Bank Name:

    Westpac Banking Corporation

    BSB:

    032xxx

    Account No.

    490xxx

    • Is that another update to the process? Now they want money into a bank account so if something goes wrong there is no way to get it back?

  • +1

What a circus. Looks like they have made a slight change to the process yet again. I'm suspecting they have received a backlash for requesting credit card details over email or they realised that they don't have a system in place to ensure the security of people's credit card details lol
The new email has dropped off all mentions of credit card.

    Before

A representative from the Buy & Win with BIC team will be in touch via phone to take the payment for the remaining balance, being the cost of your Weber BBQ less the $50 Weber voucher reward. This payment can be made via credit card or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) if that is your preferred method of payment.

    After

A representative from the Buy & Win with BIC team will be in touch to request the payment for the remaining balance, being the cost of your Weber BBQ less the $50 Weber voucher reward. The bank details will be shared for the payment to be made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

After this whole shambles of a deal, I'd like to share a good news story.

When this deal went live, my in-laws somehow found a Premium Family Q sitting on the kerbside cleanup which was abandoned. It was in parts and had dirt all over, the burners were dirty and the stand was missing a piece. but it could be salvaged.

With some elbow grease and a pressure washer, the dirt and grime was removed alongside the half plate which came with it. We then ordered a set of plates using 2 Gift Cards from this deal for $14 which gave it a new breath of life.

We then got onto Weber and asked them for some replacement parts for the stand, $50 later they delivered all the required parts. This was the final outcome, effectively a close to new looking BBQ in perfect condition for $64 total.

I'm sorry for all that had a bad experience here, never was my intention to share a deal that would go so awry.

    • +1

what a score and great news! am glad you got stuff and appreciate what you did by posting and following up! i was also a lucky one to submit claims in the wee hours of the deal and receive gift cards.

    • Amazing what some elbow grease will do! Good work on the restoration.

  • Also if you do complain to ACCC do show a screenshot of the website with the weber gift card picture as that is clearly a misleading competition.

  • I don't know how terms and revisions work in promotions. But wouldn't you be bound by the terms at the time of registering? So if you registered before they changed to them requiring them to order on your behalf, that you should be entitled to the gift card?

I registered at the beginning and didn't hear anything back, so registered again. I then received the code and submitted for the gift card, I also received another code I guess from the second submission, so submitted that too. I received a gift card for the initial submission and was able to order whatever I wanted from the Weber store. Then only the other day received the email for my second submitted code about having to order through them.

Now I'm not going to bother chasing it up as I did only make one purchase and submitted twice, but would have thought I'd have been entitled to a gift card as submitted under the same original terms (if it was a second purchase, new receipt, etc.).

I just consider myself lucky about getting in early and getting a card.

  • +1

    Hi all,

I tried emailing them to ask for a Weber gift card instead.
    Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your email.

The Buy & Win with BIC promotion terms and conditions were updated January 14th to clarify the $50 reward voucher is only to be used towards the purchase of a Weber BBQ following due process.

As your registration was submitted after this date, the updated terms and conditions apply for the date the registration was submitted. Please be assured all variations to the terms and conditions have been formally approved by the ACT Gaming and Racing Commission and the value of the Weber Voucher reward remains the same.

The value of the $50 Weber Voucher reward remains the same and the process to redeem your $50 Weber voucher reward towards a Weber BBQ purchase is now administered through our BIC Buy & Win Customer Service Centre.

To redeem your $50 Weber Voucher please return the completed form from the email to us with your Weber BBQ choice and delivery details. We will then be in touch regarding payment for the remaining balance to be made via EFT.

Should you have any further questions please email us on [email protected].

    Kind regards,
Buy & Win with BIC Team.

Was it always one gift card per transaction? I'm going to just return the lighters given the stuff up.

Managed to get one card at least before they changed the terms.

    • Has always been one gift card per order in TCs however Weber website allowed up to 3

    • +1

What a non-sense. I have received gift cards for the first 5 claims I lodged on 17 January.
I don't know whether I got lucky but it is nevertheless unfair for someone to buy the exact same product with the exact same understanding of terms and conditions for the promotion and one person receives giftcard while another person receives useless "discount" on BBQs.
They sure love to just make up stories on the fly.

  • How long after you complete their form with BBQ option do they come back to you? Who at BIC gave these clowns a contract?

  • +5

    This is my response back:

    Hi,

I you have a look at three BIC buy and win website, you'll notice that the graphics display a Weber Store Gift Voucher. When I purchased the lighters, the in-store promotion information stated that the gift voucher could be used on any item.

I understand that the multiple variations that ensued were formally approved by the ACT Gaming and Racing Commission, nevertheless the information made available to the public at the point of purchase still referred to the old T&Cs.

Therefore your marketing has been misleading. This grounds for a formal complaint case to the ACT Gaming and Racing Commission, which I will be lodging and encouraging others who were misled by the in-store promotion information to do the same.

Furthermore, as soon after the promotion started, all the Weber BBQ prices went up by at least $50, rendering this promotion null and void.

I cannot think of why anyone would provide a third party their payment details when they could go directly to Weber or get a significant discount via a corporate discount.

I would be grateful if I could be provided with the online store gift voucher as per the original T&C, which were unchanged in-store throughout the promotion period.

    Regards,

  • +5

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We have received multiple correspondence addressing this permit and we are aware of the situation unfolding.

If you could please contact 13 22 81 or complete the online complaint form via the link below.

    https://www.accesscanberra.act.gov.au/s/feedback-and-complai….

    • If you are impacted by the actions of BIC Australia, please complete the complaint form. I have received further information that this issue has been raised higher and is being investigated by management.

      • sent complaint

      • I've sent a complaint through

    • I lodged my complaint on 31 Jan and have not yet received a response

  • +1

I was progressing a BBQ order via the new process (EFT method) however they have stopped responding to my queries, they were only a few hours apart but now it has been 2 days

    • +4

Probably needed to go change the ts and c's again

  • The TC was also updated a little while ago to devalue the price of the main prize. I think actually some numpty did it accidentally in haste to update other areas of TCs.

    Prize Winner” shall mean winner as will be determined in lucky draw to be eligible for Weber BBQ valued at $ 500;

    • Yet in clause 6 of T&C, it still says

The first eligible entry drawn will win one (1) of five (5) Weber Family Q3200 LP Titanium BBQ’s which worth a value of $749, and so on.

  • So I followed this redemption through, registering two receipts on the 24th of Jan, with the goal of actually getting $50 off a Go Anywhere; It was fortuitous timing, being on the market for a BBQ already. But reaching this dead-end after weeks of watching the promo devolve into this puddle of shite is disappointing. I got the email to send funds through to TLC Marketing now and a thought crossed my mind; Because you are essentially purchasing through them, will they be providing a receipt and handling all warranty enquiries too? 10 years on the bowl and the lid for rust/burn-through.

I'm hesitant to even go ahead now because I don't want to have to deal with these pelicans ever again!

    • +1

Just thought I'd add, I received a reply to this question from the BIC Buy and Win team:

      "Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that once the EFT payment has been made and received, our team will move forward with placing your order directly to Weber. Once this order has been made, Weber will email you with the following three notifications:

      Order has been entered
      Order is leaving the warehouse
      Tracking information

Weber have also confirmed, that the warranty will be in the customer’s name. Once you have received the unit, you would have to contact Weber’s customer service team regarding any warranty claims. No invoice is needed in this instance. The serial number for the BBQ is what the Weber team will use.

We recommend all customer keep their owner guides that will come with the unit as the guides will hold valuable information on warranties and parts."

      • Noice noice
Just paid for the go anywhere myself.
Hope its not another week before any action
Please update as you go mate

  • Almost a month after being issued a gift card with 5c value and immediately querying it via email, BIC has finally responded with another gift card link containing the full $50 credit. I was lucky enough to receive gift cards for all 8 lighters purchased (receipts submitted within an hour of the deal going live on OzB) but maybe this is a sign they will make good on the original promo terms?

  • End of the day, it’s TLC that is responsible.

Re complaints to gaming commissions, my take is it comes down to when T&C’s were changed and where. Not across rules and regs, so presuming they did actually have their revised rules in place on the 14th, then most you’ll get out of complaints will be greater scrutiny of TLC in the future.

Complaints to the ACCC is an interesting one. On the one hand they could say, you must read the T&C’s. On the other hand, there is clearly a picture of a gift card which has remained throughout.

Not sure where them going awol for the last 2 weeks of January lands them when they said 3 business days for their responses in T&C’s.

So could toss a coin on ACCC. Maybe there would be a small enough number of people that would complain, that once TLC get the please explain, they will just provide the complainants with a gift card to put it to bed. No idea as haven’t seen outcomes of an ACCC complaint before.

Noticed that Bic isn’t listed as a customer on TLC’s website, but there are plenty of other large customers (eg maccas, coco cola).

  • How many days from submitting the BBQ form are you guys getting a response with EFT payment details. Been a week now, maybe time to give up and just buy a BBQ to use.

    • They've stopped replying now to my order but I submitted about a week ago, no reply 4 days

    • give up and just buy a BBQ to

Just out of interest, would you buy a Weber now?

      • +1

Yes I would. I'm a big fan. Afaik this balls up has nothing to do with weber

  • +1

I think they are under investigation. Please put on the pressure with accc and act lotteries.

The more people impacted by their action, the higher chance they follow the initial tnc.

  • -2

Just sent them an email to either send my giftcards as per t&c on submission which i have timestamped and screenshot or to reinburse me cost of lighters with $100 compensation for the heartache they caused lol

  • So far I've managed to redeem $500+ worth of gift cards on random items which I have then immediately cancelled, and have had refunded directly into my bank account.

I would have actually bought a BBQ with these gift cards but the fact they stagger them, I haven't been able to stack them enough to buy something decent, so I just keep ordering then cancelling in $50 increments

Free money is always a win

    • I finally got through to the customer support team who gave me a code, but it seems to only work with the BBQs.

    • I am surprised Weber is giving money during cancellation. I thought they would return value to original payment type.

  • The depreciation of weber bbq is phenomenal. Plenty off excellent condition ones selling anywhere between 50 to 200 with a few coming up as free everyday on fb marketplace which get snatched within minutes.
Got one for a mate, which i pressure washed after soaking it in Jeff overnight, spraying it with a solution of vinegar and then pressure washing it after 2 hours.
2 hours later, refurbished weber in 9/10 condition
Planning to build my own clay bbq salvaging burners, regulators and possibly side tables when i find a free family Q

  • Defence on :

    Thank you for your email.

The Buy & Win with BIC promotion terms and conditions were updated January 14th to clarify the $50 reward voucher is only to be used towards the purchase of a Weber BBQ following due process.

As your registrations were submitted after this date on the 21st and 31st of January, the updated terms and conditions apply for the date the registration was submitted. Please be assured all variations to the terms and conditions have been formally approved by the ACT Gaming and Racing Commission and the value of the Weber Voucher reward remains the same.

  • Just finished returning 18 lighters to coles. Feel bad for the staff caught in the middle by BICs actions

  • So finally getting a go anywhere for 50 off
Is the weber charcoal chimney worth 42$ or does the $10 jumbuck at bunnings do the same thing?

    • +2

The weber chimney is really big. I'd go the $10 jumbuck to begin with.

  • Finally got confirmation that my new BBQ has been dispatched from Weber. Having purchased lighter and registered on Jan 15th, and sent EFT to Bic on Feb 15th.

Grand saving of $20 from price of Q2200 at Jan 15th

  • I received the email like everyone else, instead of the $50 gift card. Now, my local Coles store is saying I can't return the lighters as its past 30 days.

Such a ridiculous promotion and I'm stuck with 10 lighters I have no use for.

Below email received from Access Canberra.

Thank-you for your correspondence regarding the ‘Buy and Win with BIC’ promotion (ACT Permit no. TP21 1801 – 1900).

We have received multiple correspondence addressing this permit and we are aware of a number of concerns regarding the conduct and changes to the promotion.

Access Canberra is currently reviewing this promotion and its subsequent amendments against Lotteries and Fair Trading legislation.
    ???????
We intend to provide a response as soon as possible regarding the content of your complaint

    Kind regards,
    Access Canberra Complaints Management Team

    • I received the same reply too

    • Me three - verbatim including the "???????" randomly in the middle. Hopefully the copy-and-paste job means there are many of these complaints they are replying to.

  • Has anyone received their bbq?

    • Not yet. Been sending them an email every week asking. It's been 3 weeks now since I transferred them the cash. Same sort of reply both times:

      "Hi fastjetjockey,

Thank you for reaching out to our Customer Care team to follow up on your BBQ order.

We can confirm that your order has been received and that Weber are still in the middle of processing your order. Your customer order number should be the same as your payment reference. Please keep this number: XXXXXXXXXX as a reference.

We will chase this up with Weber regarding your BBQ order. We assure you that we will be in touch with you once Weber have dispatched your BBQ.

In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.

Thank you for your patience. We sincerely apologise for the delay in responding and the dispatch of your order."

I just wanna grill some chicken!

      • As an FYI my accessory orders were dispatched in a day

      • I got the same email. Been 3 weeks since payment also.

  • Any bbq winners from the actual draw yet? Good luck!

    • They have shut the website.

    • +1

Yep, I received a call yesterday from them. I ended up buying a Baby Q with the gift card and some other gift cards I already had, $49 out of my pocket. I guess I should have held off buying accessories for it - official stand, 3rd party cover, stainless steel side tables, etc.

      • So you got one of the Family Qs? Nice!

        • +1

Apparently so! I received a follow-up call and email this morning. Just had to provide some details, address, etc. I guess I'll either get a BBQ in the mail or my identity stolen.

      • Good one!!

  • It's been over a month since I transferred BIC the funds for a Weber GA and they confirmed receipt. I'm still waiting on a tax invoice, shipping information or a barbeque. They are now ignoring my emails. Have I been scammed?

    • Same here. Should have taken the dodgy promo as a warning to not deal any further with these guys. Absolutely useless. I'll be lodging another complaint about this.

    • Just got an email from weber with tracking (Startrack) info. Finally been posted, over 5 weeks after payment.

      • Same. Coincidently right after asking for a refund…

  • Winners have been announced:

Weber Family Q3200 LP Titanium BBQ’s Prize Draw Winners:

    D. Fowler – VIC
    A. Faulkner – QLD
