USD Vs AUD International Purchases - Using Citi or Latitude Cards without Forex Fees?

Shd I use USD vs AUD for foreign sites eg iherb or amazon?
Shd I check stock on Amazon US site and convert their usd price to aud to work out each time whether I might save serious $?
using cards like citibank and latitude which claim to not charge exchange fees.
a general inspection of amazon us prices suggests that there could be the GST not factored in.
It seems cheaper but is it worthwhile?
with iherb I got a better discount but landed up paying more for the same item with a week, so unless the AUD went down significantly, I don't know.
I would pay in USD each time if I could be sure that the savings are worth the extra effort to check each time.
would like some overall advice whether USD is better than AUD for intl. purchases.

Shiti charge 4% on Inter fees even if you pay in AUD and mailed from AU with their Visa.
Check web on day rates between Master and visa for conversion fees the difference is close to nothing if any then decide to pay in currency.

If you use aud and the item is sold in usd, then the seller will set the exchange rate.

If you use usd for items sold in usd then the card provider will set the exchange rate and since the card has no exchange rate fees you save in that regard.

its not a question of cheaper, because whichever you use, the card is in aud as its issued here in australia. The question you want answered is who do you want to do the exchange of currency with, the card provider or the retailer.

I almost always go with the card issuer.
