    • Without looking at the site, has it converted from $79USD to $109AUD? That’s basically the current exchange.

      • Yeah I think you are right. Shopback price must be in USD. It's not indicated as such though.

  • Recently suffering slowness from NordVPN. Is this a good alternative?

  • How does one install PIA app on LG Web OS? I have got LG OLED B9 tv. TIA

    • +3

      I believe it's PIA to install… Sorry.

      .

    • +1

they have smart dns, you can try that see if it works

  • +1

Meh still too expensive for me. I'll wait for a 125% cashback deal.

  • +1

Doesnt seem to have a restriction like brand new user? So if you have an old account not used in last 2 years, should still get the cashback right?

    • +2

That's right. You can even be an existing customer with an active account and the deal will get added to your account automatically if you're logged into the website. Hoping the cash back tracks.

*Note – just been told ""Cashback is only valid for New Private Internet Access Customers" so this isn't the best way to do it. Better to make a new account.

any recommendations for a good VPN to access hulu & hbo max in the US and discovery plus in the UK?
Currently with expressvpn for which my cashback was never honoured ( cant remember if it was through cash rewards or shop back) my vpn expires in a few days. P.s expressvpn has worked mainly fine but it couldnt give me a argentinian location for the youtube premium, it kept coming up as brazillian. I had to use some free VPN to do that.

    • +1

Use VPN unlimited. Lifetime licence is available for 39.99 USD at stacksocial. I have been using it for the last 4 years and you can access all the streaming sites.

Existing customer. Just signed up to the 3 year deal whilst I was logged into my account on the website (actually forgot I was logged in).

The additional 3years + 3months was added to my account automatically. Didn't have to do anything. Reads "1539 DAYS LEFT".

    Lets hope it tracks :)

    • +1

It'll track but probably be rejected by PIA. "Cashback is only valid for New Private Internet Access Customers"

      • Ah damn! I didn't see that. So best then to not be logged in like I was, and just do the deal through a new account and have them merge the old account to the new?

Wonder if I can cancel and try again that way.

        • There is 30 day trial i think so should be able to? Id use a fresh email and details tho on the new account

          • +1

@Xizor: Well I went onto the chat and got them to cancel / refund the order… and they managed to kill my entire account which didn't expire till the end of the year!!

Now have to go through a email ticket to try and recover it all. Their accounts system seems useless if they can't track your orders / amount of days you had on your account.

Mined tracked in 1.5 hours as $126.19, paid $109 for the 3y+3m plan.

    • Shopback shows the cashback availble by "25 Mar 2022".
Note someone below mentions PIA rejects its cashback from his previous experience (even after tracked by shopback?).
      Finger crossed

    • why did you pay $126.19 if it costs $109?

      • +1

You get back 115% cashback which is around $126.

  • So can you do this multiple times over one account? and keep getting the deal / cashback?

  • Does anyone know when does it ask to create username/password for PIA account?
I clicked on the 3 years plan and when proceeding, goes to payment page(not sure if account creation comes after paying).
I do not want to use Shopback account email address as my VPN account email address.

    • +2

You'll get emailed login details. You dont pick them.

      • Oh that's a shame.
I would want to use a disposable/non-primary email address for a VPN service.

        • Technically you can i think. Your login to PIA website and the VPN client is an alphanumeric string for both the username and password. Unless you need to use some sort of password reset feature or something where an email would be sent later that might be an issue, maybe..

  • Umm has worked for me in the past thinking of doing it again since its free

  • Does PIA support port forwarding?

    • +1

      Yes, it does

  • What is the business motivation behind to pay us money to use the services. They must gain something.

    • It's part of promotion/marketing i would assume. They would definitely bank on you forgetting / continuing service when plan runs out (auto renew) or to buy some over the top features (anti virus, static ips etc). Others more skeptical would say there is a risk of them using your information or data in some way they can profit… or do a dodgy and not honor the cashback. I've been using them for a few years, for a cheap consumer grade VPN it works fine for me.

  • +3

Never paid me as PIA rejected it, good luck getting yours.

    • So just wondering , if the cash back is not paid/rejected can you get a refund or not as it says 30 days for money back but Mar 2022 for cash back ?

  • +2

If you pay for the antivirus and the IP it gets it to $353.89

Will they pay you 115% of that?

    • Need someone to try out…
I guess may not worth the risk…

    • If it's not mentioned in the deal then the cashback will get rejected.

  • +1

When you don’t pay for the product, you are the product.

Also massive chance this won’t track properly.

    • Agree! Use Mullvad VPN or Poton VPN. Not the cheapest but you know you are using the best VPNs out there.

  • Seems like a good deal

Whoever Reece is enjoy the $20 referral bonus as I used your referral code (via the OZB Referral Randomiser)

  • Too many comments around PIA and privacy issues. why do we forget that VPNs are never built for that purpose. It's a virtual network between your host and the server - in short a VPN server is a centralised body you are relying upon to create that localised network. Use tor if you really want privacy, even with that you will never know who owns the edge nodes.

    • The question is what level of privacy, from who, and for what activities? Know this and you make your choice. At the end of the day we live in a still relatively lax country where besides a few blocked websites (usually just dns) and maybe protocol blocks (rare), both ISPs and the Gov have little interest in your actual internet use unless you've become a target of criminal interest. Most of the real snooping happens from the apps, services, and potentially equipment people use.

  • Hows compared to Express VPN

    • Nothing beats ExpressVPN. There is reason you dont get these types of deals on ExpressVPN

  • ** New Customers Only ** .. So stuff the existing customers! Reminds me of the bad old Foxtel days. That's my cue to move on right there. :(

  • Just got this for the socks5 proxy to use with qBittorrent. Can anyone confirm if my setting are correct, and if there's other boxes to tick/untick? https://imgur.com/a/Xn3TKJy

    Cheers.

Since PIA doesn't offer this service, use this page from Torguard to test you have it set up correctly.

Heads up that even if you do, there's the potential for it to still leak, as has occurred for others with the exact same setup you have (pia and qbittorrent) and it's recommended you use a VPN client and killswitch instead.

Qbittorrent also has a killswitch of sorts built in, go to the network interfaces settings and tell it to only use the vpn network. This still requires using a VPN client.

Alternatively, there's docker containers with qbittorrent, a VPN client and a built in killswitch, that are fairly simple to setup and use.

      • +1

Thanks for the link. I'm pretty sure I've got it setup properly because that test didn't show my IP, but then again it was only a 5 min test. Yeah I might actually just setup qBittorrent to only work while it's connected to the VPN's network adapter.. better safe then sorry.

        Cheers for the help.

They pay me money and give me a VPN service for free???
