Astro Mixamp Pro TR Gen 4 for PC/Xbox (One & Series S/X) or PC/PS $198 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ EB Games

90

These have been on Amazon AU for ~$180 before but it doesn't look like they are listed at the moment.

Edit : PS version on Amazon here for $180.

It is a decent amp as reviewed here and you can use any headset (I currently use my Mixamp with the HyperX Cloud Alpha).

For Xbox Series S/X, game and chat audio can be output using USB (Mixamp requires a firmware update).

Unless you have 5Ghz Interference with your wireless headsets I don't recommend getting the mixamp.
Why? Well since they removed the optical ports on the consoles you cant use the built in Dolby Digital, and you also cannot use your own custom sound profiles(https://www.thezeference.com/astro-eq) because for some reason they decided to disable them with the USB update. You need to purchase The Dolby Atmos app to make any audio customisations.

For PC this is good and works as it should.

Yeah and the USB port is also subject to interference, especially on Xbox. I took mine back it was so bad, worse than $10 headphones.

      • Hmm, no issues with mine.

    • they removed the optical ports

RIP. I miss using my Turtle Beach DSS2 on the One X but I had to run a bird’s nest of cables to get chat working. For the Series X, I wanted to keep my HyperX Cloud Alpha but needed an amp so ended up getting a Mixamp.

Apparently you get the Dolby Atmos app for free - https://blog.astrogaming.com/2020/11/dolby-atmos-and-xbox-se…

I had already purchased Atmos so can’t confirm if it works.

I guess one could argue that Atmos is better than the built in Dolby on the Mixamp.

  • Keen on this for PC… I've had a smaller one before and it worked well. Price seems to be a bit steep still even with sale price hmm.

  • is there any that work on PS5?

Astro promised to offer a solution or cable for those who own the previous one, but they never sent me anything.

      • they were sending these for free to owners of the previous mixamp but they never sent me mine. Now I'm soured on whether I'll buy any more of their products again.

Does this solution enable the tempest 3D sound?

This breakout box also complicates things if you have PSVR which has another breakout box. Also it only supports HDMI 2.0, so 4K/60 is the best you can get from it and no VRR.

Seriously I need an audio solution since Sony removed optical. I don't want to use the dual sense headphone jack, and the Pulse 3D headphones I have are not comfortable for my head. It's why I haven't played much PS5 since I got it.

        • I'm on the Xbox side so not too sure, however this discussion on reddit here may help.
