Okay as there's a some highly strung folks on here 😂, I spoke to Amazon via 'chat' and they indicate that the serial number is incorrect and should be WD4005FZBX. Item for sale is as per the pictures (4TB - WD4005FZBX . Hope this helps. I'd keep an eye on ad and wait for serial number to be updated.

Peace and HNY!!! Regards OP.

  • The model number WDZ2003FZEX doesn't seem to belong to any WD 4TB drives?

The older 4TB Black model should be listed as; WD4003FZEX

Going by the product photos of the hard drive. It's meant to show WD4005FZBX. Amazon AU has made a listing error when it comes to the model number.

      • +1

Going by past examples, it'll most likely be a 2TB model shipped.

previous example of this happening that I know of is the Intel 10980XE listing where people were getting a 10920X.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/i9-10980XE-Desktop-Processor-Unloc…

There's also a WD PCIe card that suffered the same fate where it was advertised at a higher capacity, but people were receiving the lower capacity.

        • Just got mine today and it's 4TB model!

The outer box has 2 labels saying 2TB and 4TB each, but the actual item inside is labeled as 4TB.
          (Haven't installed this tho).

Still available at Amazon $191+ delivery

Don't waste your time with this garbage. As another commenter has already pointed out the model number corresponds to a 2tb drive, and are 2013 models.

I guess OP was too concerned about scoring fake internet points to do any sort of due diligence.

    • +1

Correct on the 2TB, the current model number listed on the WD site is WD2003FZEX as xuqi has stated.

While I appreciate you pointing out the negatives with this product, I think you are being a bit too rough on the OP.

    • +4

i wouldn't blame the OP. anyone seeing that would clearly think it's 4TB drive. it's amazon's fault. Unless you are aware of the model number, which i assure most people wouldn't

    • +1

I’d think it’s quite likely it’s the model number that’s wrong rather than the very visible “4TB” pasted all over the listing, especially if the 2TB one is that old.

      • I agree with this as well. Everywhere in the listing indicate the 4TB.

      • Problem is on Amazon's side, this is happening with the Intel 10980XE listing where people are getting 10920X's.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/i9-10980XE-Desktop-Processor-Unloc…

        • I’ve seen the wrong model numbers listed more than once too though. If unsure support can be contacted, and I’ve put a relatively direct link in a comment below on how to reach them on chat. You’d be entitled to a full refund too, but if worries talking to chat first will save some hassle potentially.

    • Just a model number listing error made by Amazon.

The model number listed from the photos is WD4005FZBX which is the latest 4TB model.

If you order this you'll be receiving the WD4005FZBX 4TB Black drive. But it's your loss.

So don't take it out on the OP for your lack of research.

      • Are you saying people on the internet should act like rational and compensate humans? If so welcome to the internet, as it seems you have never used it before.

  • The problem with Amazon is it would be hard to contact anyone about this listing and find out if its 4tb or really a 2tb

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/contact-us/ref=cu… then “Other Issues” > “Something Else” > “Start chatting now”

Amazon has an online support chat that the above should get you to and my personal experience is they’re usually very helpful, if a bit buried to start the chat off. It’ll probably help that the listing is for a product sold by Amazon UK and not a third party.

      • Thanks. This deal has been updated, see above.

So the online chat confirmed what i claimed. That it is the WD4005FZBX 4TB model. I told you all this yesterday. But i got neg voted for my comment.
