Big doubt it isn’t around 100 already but it’s the internet so we all make our own stories. Enjoy.

    50x WOOOW!

  • This is almost worth telling your bosses about, to get a new supplier. Would love to see all across Australia, bars of Whittaker's for $8 and then the almond for way cheaper

  • Nice - got one.
    Epic price.

  • +7

That is so cheap, but still not keen on nuts in my mouth

    • +7

I know what you mean, but if you swallow quickly you don’t really notice it that much

  • Thanks. Ordered one. It still says 5 in stock.

    • Back orders now.

      • Yup. I thought it was weird but it makes sense and my above comment is now redundant. Thanks for the post ! The family and I are big fans of Whittakers.

  • What would the expiry look like on these?

    • +48

      MM/YYYY :-)

    • +4

Same as your delivery date I’d expect

  • +2

my mum's going to be so mad if i order these.

  • +3

Bruh I just started a diet

    • +4

Time to end the New Year's resolution then. It was a good 4 days.

      • They have little stock : Subtotal (999 items): $72,467.46

      • 🤣

peanut slabs are also available for 1$ each (hasnt happened in about a year)

    • 3 times more expensive than OP Einstein on weight.

    • +3

They are frequently for a buck at Woolies and Coles, think its Woolies turn come tomorrow.

  • Not sure why I need that much but bought it anyways

  • +1

No one buys these at $6. Not on here anyway.

    • +8

i'd rather buy one of these at $6 and not have diabetes.

      • +1

Same. I buy one bar a week.

  • +1

Comes with free diabetes might as well

    • by the time i factored diabetes.. it costs way more than $72

  • If anyone in Sydney buys this and wants to swap for other Whitaker's like coconut, PB&J and peanut. Find a way to contact?

    • I've bought this - and open to swaps.
      I'm in the inner west.

      • Cool, I'm in the East so I was optimistic when I saw your name. I can potentially get to inner West next Tuesday.

        • I'll let you know when I get an expected delivery date - might not be until 19 Jan.

          • @bondiben: Ok, what's the best way to share contact details?

            • @MikeSYD: I received 50 x 45g slabs instead of the 250g blocks!

              • @bondiben: That's a big stuff up from Amazon. They'll make you keep it and give you credit. In the meantime, I'm good to swap gram for gram.

                • @MikeSYD: Let me know a way to contact you - then I'll drop you a message and we can work something out - I've opened one - no bloom - which is good!

  • +3

    Wowie. Cheaper than NZ prices.

    • Is Whittaker’s actually cheap in NZ?

I bought a 250g block of Whittaker’s Jelly Tip from a Pak’nSAVE for NZ$4 a couple of years ago, because I thought it was cheap for Whittaker’s and you’d never see a Jelly Tip block sold in Australia.

You can imagine my surprise and slight annoyance when I spotted a few months later at a BIG W a Jelly Tip block being sold (on special) for AU$4.

A couple of months later, I spotted at a Coles (short dated) Jelly Tip blocks being sold for AU$1.50…

  • +1

    another great high yield investment

  • +1

    OMG… 50 blocks.

My diet is so grateful that I missed this one. :D

  • +4

Ordered, much thanks OP - Rationale I used…..

Do I expect to like chocolate for the forseeable future? Yes
Is this a good chocolate? Yes
Is it a good chocolate at a good price? Yes
Do I need 50 blocks? No but I'll get through them eventually

Thats a clear 3-1 victory, though I suspect the backorder won't come through - seems like a possible pricing error.

    • did you take into account expiry date in your rationale?

      • +6

Ah thats just a suggestion, chocolate is fine for ages after the expiry date - no probs.

  • +2

Will give it out to staff, customers and our delivery drivers that bring us and take our parcels for Easter if it ever arrives… Some might fall into my bag and end up at home too ;)

    • If you’re giving it away, are you saving money?

      • +1

        its a business expense :)
normally buy some choccies at Easter time anyway

  • Every block of chocolate I have ordered from Amazon has had bloom on it, they clearly don't store them in a climate controlled warehouse. Good deal though and I got some.

    • I think you'll find no FMCG retailer stores goods in a "climate controlled warehouse", but I might be wrong…

  • +2

I remember buying 2 boxes of Cadbury Creme Eggs. Ate 1 a day. I was so sick of them during box 2. Good luck to those that bought and I hope for your health and continued like for chocolate you share them.

    • +3

Yeah, but this is actually chocolate, not what ever chocolate like concoction that Cadbury had made up.

    • I can barely eat one of those. Those eggs are pretty disgusting

  • I’m a recent Amazon convert and use it heaps but I have to say, I’ve got M&Ms on subscribe but man they are always stale and broken compared to just buying at Woolworths or something.. not expired either so it’s weird

  • +1

Whittaker's choc is dope for a supermarket brand. Some of the flavours absolutely suck though like PB&J, caramel

  • +3

Whittaker's is my favourite of the supermarket chocolate for sure, but I don't think even I could eat this many before expiry. I will also say I appreciate that they're still a 250g bar. So many brands now with 175g bar sizes that used to be 250 to sneak in a price increase. Then they raise the price of the now much smaller bar.

    • Yep. That's why i don't buy Cadbury - even on special.
      I'll rather pay$6 for a good whittaker

  • +1

Make sure to video yourself opening the box, they delivered a box of the slabs (50x45g) not the blocks (50x250g)

  • i requested an Amazon credit instead of a cash refund & received this message:
"There's no need to return your item. Your refund has been issued."

Not sure if you'll get the same if you request the money back on your credit card, but it's an ok result considering.

    • I usually request a credit on top of a refund and they just give you some free bucks

  • available to order

  • Did anyone actually get 50 x 250g blocks?

    • Still waiting on mine - queries Amazon support and asked if they have any guidance on when the stock will be obtained to honour orderes they have already accepted payment for - they had no idea but assured me they were NOT stalling to try and have folks cancel their orders (which is my personal opinion of what they're trying to do).

I think they know they stuffed up and want folks to can their orders so they don't have to honour them - as I explained to Amazon it makes no sense to me that a company with their sway can't access an item thats available in most supermarkets - so feels like a stall to me.

but I'm patient so will give it longer.

  • +1

Thanks to Mods for reopening these comments. Just want to say I got a $40 credit by Amazon and the order had to be cancelled since they were never going to get stock in. Win

    • Did you contact through live chat and ask the status of the order?

    • Thanks for advising - atleast thats something.

I've spoken with online chat around 5 times now and every time they completely stonewall me - zero info, no timeline or alternative solution other than providing a refund.

@I Smell Pennies , PITA so feel free to say get stuffed - but don't suppose you have a chat log or anything similar to show what they provided for you? So others can show and say,"Hey can you do this as you did for others?"

Is odd as the price for the 50x box has still been changing and you can still order it right now if you want. When I last spoke with online I suggested why don't they instead provide me with 50 bars from any of the other Whittakers varieties they have in stock - as surely the base unit price for these would be all but the same for them. So whats the downside for them?

But you'd think I'd suggested they replace them with gold ingots as they were completely not open to it - and would not provide any basis for not doing this.

Honestly I'm pretty sure their internal system says something along the lines of "We're never getting this in again, so just give the customer no info and provide no assistance" as they couldn't have been LESS helpful - like they were almost going out of their way to be useless. And when I compare this to how amazing they were when I've had issues in the past it's such a massive contrast. Very disappointing.

Also when I attempted twice to place a review saying that I was still waiting for the product after many months - they deleted it twice! Even though I was sure to ensure the review met their guidelines.

      • +1

No, they don’t provide chat logs unfortunately. But what I always do is say “can you please kindly provide a promotional credit to compensate for xx…” so on. I’ve always done this. In the case of these chocolates, it was waiting several months.

You can also say other people got promo credit for this and if they’re willing to do so as well. If you know it’s never going to come, just accept a cancellation in return for credit.

Appreciate the reply and advice - I'll see what Whittakers HO says back - as while I don't think they'll have the 250g blocks back (as these are no longer made in the Almond variety) they should get the smaller 200g ones. Anyway options there and to be honest I REALLY don't need nearly 10kg of amazingly good choccy. :-/

  • +1

FWIW seems that nearly all the big supermarkets don't have the Almond Gold in stock at present (atleast where I live) - the only one that is showing as having in stock is BigW. Coles, Woolies, IGA all out.

Seems the Almond Gold 250g block has been downsized to 200g - packaging changed a little - that might have been part of the reason these cartons were marked down - but one would still expect that the individual 200g blocks will be back in stock at Amazon at some point - as it's part of Whittakers classic base line. So perhaps some light at the end of the tunnel if you're prepared to be uber patient? I guess the positive is from what I know no funds are debited from your CC until the goods are shipped so IF you have an order in place you don't have anything to lose, accept annoyance. Ya gotta hope anyway.

PS I send Whittakers HO an email just querying the supply issue - I'll report back on whatever they advise.
