- Can I get on a commercial aircraft carrying my Leatherman tool?
While many Leatherman Multi-Tools (including wearables such as the Tread) are approved as flight/travel friendly products by the TSA in the United States, Australian flight services do not operate under the same TSA guidelines. Airport staff and agents have full discretion over allowable items for the safety of all passengers and this may vary from flight to flight. For all domestic and international flight services that are departing from or arriving in Australia, we suggest that you check your Leatherman products in to your checked baggage and do not carry them on your person or in your carry-on luggage. Also note that Leatherman Tool Group Australia does not replace or warranty tools that are lost, stolen, or confiscated.

Won't help, the laws are so broad they can even confiscate a teaspoon from you (as "metal cutlery"):

@Russ: Can confirm this from personal experience. Has a Leatherman Style PS refused by Sydney Airport security even though I proved that it didn’t have a knife. They were unhappy that it had a nail file. https://leatherman.com.au/collections/multi-tools/products/s…
@m00seTheC0wSnake: Had a carabiner confiscated by airport security, claiming it could be used as a a weapon.
Was in my backpack, for clipping to chair, seat etc while on bus/train, making it harder to snatch and grab while trekking round.
They obviously thought I was going to try to take down a plane with an aluminium clip.
Who knows…but wasn't getting through security with it regardless
Is this thing allowed in Flights?
Yes, if you store it in your checked-in luggage.
Still a knife. Can't use as a EDC still illegal.
Idk about other states but Qld police says:
‘ a person may carry a pen knife or swiss army knife for use for its normal utility purpose.’
I have had my car and pockets searched by police before who spotted the pocket knife and gave zero forksz
Well I carry mine in my backpack while hiking and riding my bike - never realized I was breaking the law.
But in all seriousness unless you whip it out in public I'm sure no one is going to arrest you. Just be sensible much ike the rules around motorized e bikes and scooters.
Thanks OP.Good buying….but I've got three Leathermans already.

I don't ride motorcycles but I feel like the surge, charge and wave plus would be a great options - at least work for my mountain bike. You also get the bit driver part where you can change out to drivers etc and even use 1/4 bits with the extender piece or ratchet extender.
