Unfortunately Miele doesn't have an upright model.
currently using Dyson DC29 which is still going strong
Clean better, more hygienic, longer lasting, repairable. Better purchase on every level.
Dyson are well marketed trash, but people don't like hearing about that.

The humidity and dust in Sydney turn into a plaster-like substance inside the cordless dyson vacuums, blocking the air, and they are so difficult to take apart for cleaning. Would never purchase one again.
Appreciate your insight…can you give your thoughts on the best cordless / stick vacuum, upgright, and multifunction (floor cleaning) models?
Stick vacs are tough because they all mostly suck (ha!) and because of people's perception that they're meant to replace a corded vacuum. They're made for convenience, to do spot cleaning etc, however some manufacturers (I'm lookin' at you, Dyson) have convinced people that they're just as good at cleaning as a mains-operated vacuum - they aren't. They never will be. There are too many limitations.
With that said, I begrudgingly recommend Dyson because theirs are OK for the task, and they offer the best support for them when you have problems. Most brands won't carry spare parts, or will price them to make it uneconomical - so once your warranty is up, you bin it and start again. Dyson do keep parts for at least a little while, and reasonably fairly price them. With that said, no-one should spend $1200 on a cordless - they aren't worth it. Spend half on a Miele, half on a cheaper Dyson, and you get the best of both worlds.
My upright choice would be a Sebo Felix, but they certainly come at a cost. The X7 is great too, and a little cheaper. If they're out of the buyer's price range, I'd probably just forget the idea of an upright and get a Miele C3 - I haven't really seen any other good uprights you can buy locally.
Above all else, always buy bagged machines over bagless. They will - all else being equal - always be more hygienic and last longer.
@wintermadness: Thanks heaps, that's very good of you to share your knowledge!!
People rave about dyson until they use something better like miele for the same price.
To quote my friend who used my Comfort C3 for the first time after valiantly defending their Dyson: "What the f***…no, surely not."
I just bought this one, the wife likes Bissell… https://www.catch.com.au/product/bissell-pet-hair-eraser-tur…
However… this is the 3rd one in 5 years, first was returned for warranty and they sent a new one, so this is 2nd purchase. I have no idea but doesn't seem that a vacuum lasts more than 2 years with decent use?
I am not sure but I think Bissell doesn't have HEPA filter.
Miele's are the gold standard. The challenge is they use bags which are not good for smaller frequency vaccum requirements. I'd rather use the bags for one large cleanup rather than let it sit there half full and then stink next time you want or use the vaccum.
I found this one that's bagless, seems like a good price too.
Not sure if this is a deal really because I bought this for the same price around 4-5 months ago. It has already been in for warranty repair - it stopped suctioning completely out of the head. Was used less than 10 times before this happened. Luckily for Dyson they have a good customer service experience.
Thanks OP .. purchased the ball version for the same price $20 off + Free Del at BigW ebay plus https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124172856207?epid=844832760&hash…
wish aldi did the backpack cyclonic again so good for cleaning stairs, windows, etc ….
i have a dyson and must say it has good suction when you don’t overfill before emptying and tap the filters clean. i broke a plastic bit that holds accessories will be interesting how cheap and easy it is to get parts. mine has the power head as i used to have carpets and it out performed my cordless xiaomi vac on carpet with the power head, xiaomi also has power head but is cordless , on tile floor they do the same …..challenge is carpets not timber or tile floors, all vacs do those ok.
i considered miele but they only did filter bag versions at the time, and didn’t want the hassle of keeping spare bags. cyclonic patents have expired so now companies are trying to get more suction and better filtration to set them apart ….
I suggest people checkout Vacuum Wars on YouTube for really good unbias reviews.
The shark NZ801 is a great deal for $444, the dual head design is next level.

I used a Dyson upright for the last 10 years. I had to send it in for repairs around 4-5 times in that period for the same problem (the cord would get cut internally). This time I was quoted a cost of $180 to repair it. I chose to go out and buy a new one instead (Shark brand). I asked Dyson to recycle my upright Vacuum. They then decided to fix it for free and send it to me. Now I have a spare :)
Dyson's website itself carries poor reviews of their products. Wonder why anyone would consider buying them.
Miele worth it in the long run.
