Thanks op. Costco has amazing deals on golf clubs. Looking at full price sets at other places (easily around $2000), I would write the game off as a rich man's sport.

And for 90%+ of golfers this is all you will ever need (maybe with the exception of upgrading the putter and adding some wedges). Rick Sheilds on YouTube has proven as much (along with a load of other you tube golf professionals).

I've managed to put my bag together very cheaply waiting for deals, but realistically you're going to blow past the price difference in clubs on balls, range time, and green fees/membership fees in your first year playing anyway, doubly so if you get a few lessons.

and golf is probably as affordable in this country as it is anywhere in the world.

great game though, would still recommend.

      • Agree! Where do you look for your deals? Hoping to refresh my clubs over time as just getting back into it myself

        Cheers

$2000 is even cheap for a full priced set. I've played (not owned) sets costing north of $15k. For what it is worth, I still lost the game.

  • Wow this is great price for a set of new clubs.

  • How does the sizing work?

Everyone has different geometry, who is this suitable for?

    • This is important. They measure club lengths from you wrists, so you may need a longer or shorter club dependent on this. There’s also the lie of the club. Having said that, game improvement clubs are meant to be super forgiving, so you should be ok.

      • So the XL doesn't stand for Extra Large? I assumed this meant for taller people.

more a reference to the head/sweetspot size I think you'll find.

    • Standard size good for most blokes. I would only worry if you are over 6'6" or smaller than 5'6".

      • Cool, I’m 5’7 so just scrapped in lol

        • Yeah you'll be fine with standard length

  • Plenty of stock left at Morrabbin yesterday, only 2 sets of the Callaway Edges for $799.

No Cobra bags left (they are $179 in store and would not match online price). Plenty of $249 callaway bags left

    • Oh that’s a shame. It was $139.99 in store in Adelaide, but I didn’t get it as it didn’t seem that good anyway.

      • To be honest the check out person I had was pretty clueless, tried to tell me the online price is different even though it also included postage, had the same item code and the Cobra golf set was the exact same online and instore pricewise.

It was a pretty barebones standbag, for $140 you could do a lot worse but yes better bags out there.
