Asus E410MA 14-inch Pentium-N5030/4GB/128GB SSD Laptop $398 (was $598) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

130

Seems to be a really good deal for a basic but efficient laptop from a reputable manufacturer.
It will easily handle internet browsing, MS Office and other work and study related programs, watching videos, photo editing, etc.
It should be great for school children and students. It will be also great as a travel companion for anyone thanks to its light weight and compact size.
It's slim and light, has a Full High Definition screen and a long lasting (up to 12 hours) battery.

Note: If you still haven't used $200 "travel" money on your Amex Platinum Edge card, pay with your card and the final cost to you will be only $198 plus you will get 1 year extra warranty from Amex.

Works well for remote desktop into my main pc, the WIFI card is good for this, I use NVIDIA streaming nicely with it for playing games from my main pc. (Moonlight)

Also does the basics for work stuff (non photoshop work)

The screen brightness can be an issue but it isn't for me.

    • seems to be positioned to compete against chrome book in the price bracket ….but it has FHD, for somebody that does mainly browsing or saves their data to the cloud it’s ok for a home machine ….better then using a mobile phone for word processing , paying bills, or other light tasks.

      • Exactly. For the price of a Chromebook you get much better specs, better screen, more ports. Plus you get Windows if you need it for for any particular reasons (for work, etc.).

  • upg the mem

    should have a free slot

cant work out whether the unit has a free nvme slot because 128gb is limiting

    • I guess you could use micro SD or USB stick to extened the storage.

    • Looks like the opposite according to a random youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAYmQYkMaFQ), i.e. the memory is soldered/non-upgradable but there is an empty M.2 slot for storage expansion.

      • amazingly asus's web site is wrong!

4GB DDR4 on board, Memory Max Up to:8GB
8GB DDR4 on board, Memory Max Up to:8GB

or maybe i'm reading it wrong. If you bought 4gb model you had the opportunity to have 8gb if you bought the 8gb sku.

  • My SSD they mean eMMC memory? 😂

    • empty m.2 slot ……

      • yeah thats even worse

you're running the o/s off the slow emmc and your linux iso are on the fast nvme?

  • Can someone please explain the Amex travel money? I haven’t used it in 2 years

    • Amex Platinum Edge gives you $200 to spend on travel via Amex Travel.
This year they extended the validity of your travel credit until 31 December plus they allow you to spend it at Harvey Norman.
Please check your Amex offers. It should be there. Make sure you got it saved.
Then you simply buy anything at HN (before 31 December) and Amex will refund you $200.
I bought this laptop and had an instant confirmation that $200 will be credited to my account.

      • Hi, how do I save the Amex offers for HN? I can't see it.

I can see my $200 travel credit but can't see the HN offer.

  • Better, 256GB/NVME, 8GB RAM:

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/asus-14-e4…

Yes, $200 more, but worth it, I reckon. JB wants $769!

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-e410-14-full-hd-lapt…

    • I don't think extra $128GB storage and 4GB RAM is worth $200 plus you won't be able to use $200 Amex credit at Office Works.

  • not available for C&C anywhere
