EB Games Giftcard Issued with 3 Digit Pin?

I recently purchased an EB games giftcard via the Shopback APP, it seemed to go correctly and I can see the purchase listed in the app along with the giftcard number and PIN. The issue is the PIN number shown on the giftcard is only 3 digits, not 4 digits as expected, and the card can not be used online to make a purchase (however a different giftcard with a 4 digit PIN worked correctly). Has anyone has this issue with EB Giftcards, possibly purchased via Shopback?

There is a phone number listed on the giftcard that I called but it is after-hours right now and the call was directed to an overseas call centre where no one answered, of course I will try again tomorrow but if anyone has experience with this issue please let me know how you went to get it resolved.

EDIT: Thanks to the comments the solution has been found, there was a missing '0' at the start of the PIN.

  • If your Gift Card does not have a four-digit PIN along with the 19-digit Gift Card number, you can only use the Gift Card at a EB Games store location.

Sounds like it's only meant to be for in-store use and not online? Check what it says from you bought it from.

    • oh… well, that is a relief that it's not faulty. Thank You.

    • Smart, keep customers in store where they can be influenced by salespeople, instead of using the card online and seeing you are paying more than Amazon charge with slower delivery.

The staff at EB games are hardly sales people lol. Have you ever been to one?

What do you mean, EB is currently having their BIGGEST SALE EVER!! 😑

  • but it is after-hours right now and the call was directed to an overseas call centre

Have you thought about how out of hours OzBargain enquiries are answered?

    • I imagine there are heaps of us that are up at all hours of the night… such as myself, reading ozbargain! 😀

You could possibly try cycling through numbers as the first or last digit. It may be that it was supposed to start with a 0 but it was converted to a number and the leading 0 was removed.

    • Hi @argonide, yes I was trying different numbers last night but for some reason didn't try a '0' at the start which is what was actually needed.

  • You could also try doing a balance check on the ebgames website.

    • Yep, I was doing this last night. The problem turned out to be a missing 0 at the start of the PIN.

    Hey @running on empty,

Could you try adding a 0 to the front of the pin.
My colleague believes there was an error with the spreadsheet causing the 0's to be removed.

If this doesn't work, please reach out to me via DM.

    Cheers,
    GYB

    • Thanks @gotyourback, it appears that's exactly what happened and your suggestion worked. Thanks again for the reply.

      • No stress at all :)
