can't go wrong with Circulon (should be their motto lol). I had a frypan and the non stick coating was bubbling up around the inside in a ring and coming off. I'd had it for more than 10 years. They just got me to send pictures and they replaced it free of charge under their Lifetime Guarantee. I always hand wash my items and use a nylon scrubber so it didn't damage, so it might have been a faulty item. My wok is still fine, although I don't use it as much.

      • How do they confirm that this is not part of normal wear and tear?

        • +1

obviously that sort of thing just doesn't happen with their pans. They have a lifetime warranty. I didn't even have to send the old one to them. I just threw it in the bin when I received the new one.

            @souths123: And that's why I don't buy Tefal frypan.

          • @souths123: I had brought the circullon set about 12 months ago and all the coating from a pan has suddenly gone and looks rusty . I dishwasher them and don’t use any scrub . Was feeling sad today about sending so much money. What should I do to get the replacement ?

            • +2

              @glenf: Contact then …

Also, maybe go over the manual for maximum temps. You may have gone too high with the temps that can cause damage. Also, wash by hand if you can and dry VERY THOROUGHLY.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: I'm looking to buy Circulon now, but just out of curiosity… Does Circulon replace if the coating gone off and became rusty because of dishwasher/high temperature?

Circulon claims their pans are dishwasher free - is this a valid reason for replacement if coating fails because of dishwashing powder?

As for high Temperature, Circulon claims their pans can withstand 260c, I can't imagine cooking anything beyond 260c as standard oven has a maximum of 260 degrees…

So either way it looks like the Circulon pans becoming rusted are likely covered under their guarantee?

                • @b0b0: Obviously I am just speculating what is causing issues. But generally it’s good practice to hand wash and dry thoroughly. As for the warranty, it seems they are pretty flexible with it, so if you initiate a return, I wound not out any finer details in the claim just a simple ‘hey look what happened here’ photo and see what they say.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Thanks . I am Usually very careful with the pans. Only one of the 3 I brought has this issue and I was thinking may be circulon wasn’t a good brand.

I will contact them with pictures and see what they say.

and all the coating from a pan has suddenly gone and looks rusty .

              That's annoying

              I dishwasher them

That's why. Wash them by hand.
              Dishwasher powder is abrasive.

            • +1

@glenf: I have never placed my pans in the dishwasher. They wash up VERY easily hand washed. Use a nylon non scratch scrub if you have to and you shouldn't use extremely high heat, although I do occasionally use the top heat setting on my induction cooktop to sear. Mine obviously had a fault in the coating as it was bubbling up in a ring around the bottom edge. and started peeling off. Try not to put very hot frypans straight into water, wait for them to cool a bit first. I have now had the replacement for years without any issue.

      • Tried to get a refund on a new frying pan that lost its effectiveness because I cooked on high heat. I cranked the temp up because I felt it was cooking with the heat I would normally expect. Unfortunately I voided my warranty so have never bought Circulon again.

        • Cooking with high heat voids the warranty? It sounds odd as I don't see any such terms anywhere. Unless you have been cooking above 260c which they specified?

(mind elaborating on how you cooked with high heat on the Circulon pan? Thanks! 😊)

          • @b0b0: https://support.circulon.com/support/solutions/articles/6500…
This information is available on most reseller sites plus the Circulon site. I cooked on a normal induction stove top, I never use any type of spray and yet because I was on a high setting and stuffed it I voided the warranty. I thought the pans might have had a higher tolerance than that so just be careful of your heat settings.

    • Wow, there's a heck of a sale going on there, great tip.

    • Cheers bro, bought them :)

    • +1

Circulon seems like the better one to go for — the fact that the Anolons are only oven safe to 200C while the Circulons are fine to 260C is a bit of a red flag there.

      • +6

I believe this because of the handle material.

        • Correct - Silicone handle on the Analon vs metal handle on the circulon.

    • Much better deal, cheers! Bought these ones.

    • Thanks. Bought this one. Never own a circulon before. Looking forward to it.

    • Which would be the better deal? I'm no frying pan expert, but both sets look the same to me. Does Circulon have the better warranty?

    • Thanks! ordered this one instead. Lifetime warranty sounds good.

    • Thanks for this, will have to wait for them to restock now though.

  • If you like to cook with olive oil is there any better non stick pans than others out there? I ask as I have some scanpans which are great except for the fact they quickly become no longer nonstick from carbon build up.regular handwashing with scourer doesn't seem to have much effect. Scanpan suggest using bicarb which works but its a lot of work and doesn't last long before carbon builds up again.

    • +4

Use a higher quality olive oil and stop taking it beyond the smoking point - sounds like you're at a very high temp.

My scanpans clean up well if I put boiling water in them within a few minutes of turning off the heat, the fond (browned/caramelised food) lifts right off. Very rarely will I ever have carbon (burnt food) build up, perhaps the sides occasionally have a bit, a gentle scrub gets rid of this.

    • Sounds like you're cooking too hot. Since I stopped going over half heat I find my non stick pans coating lasts way longer.

    • +1

Scanpans quality and service seems to have dropped over the years
Currently using some Anolans, so far so good

    • Olive oil has a much lower spoke point than other oils. I’d recommend that you try coconut oil if you still want a healthy option, and a higher smoke point. Personally I use Coco Earth Premium Liquid Coconut Oil 500ml. Available at WW and Coles. No coconut flavour either. Will save your pans for sure!

      • I am seeing references to extra virgin olive oil having high smoke point… I dunno, that’s all I use these days

      • Olive oil has a much lower spoke point than other oils.

I used to think the same, but it’s apparently a widespread misconception when it comes to extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil that hasn’t been refined or blended with other oils is very stable and can be used for high temperatures.

        https://www.actascientific.com/ASNH/pdf/ASNH-02-0083.pdf

With that said, it’s not like I would use EVOO for deep frying since it’s not economical to do so in bulk or in cases where the EVOO taste might clash with your particular dish.

    • +1

Much healthier options available. Olive Oil is really unhealthy at high-temperatures, best to be avoided for high-temp cooking.

    That RRP 🤣

Seems most other sites have it around $110-120, and that's before checking whether discounted gift cards or cash back offers are available. May still be a bargain for some but looks like $110 delivered for me.

  • Damn, if only I didn't already spend a few hundred dollars on knives in the last couple months, I'm sure I could have convinced myself to purchase these.. 😅

  • No lead?

Could be a bargain at 99, but that rrp is even beyond my exaggeration

That RRP just looks criminal to me.

    • +1

yes, I've never bought anything like this full price, always waited for these sales. Circulon frypans have a lifetime warranty and I have used it to replace one pan that was over 10 years old where the non stick coating was bubbling up and coming off. (and I look after the pans correctly) I reached out to them, sent them some pics and they replaced it no questions. I didn't even need a receipt.

      • Sounds good. My $250 Le Cruset bullet proof non-stick scratched on first use because I swirled butter around it. Didn't realise until I looked closely to see the butter had salt crystals in it.

  • $400 RRP hahahaha

      • eBay doesn't offer warranty.

Durable hard anodised construction is twice as hard as stainless steel.

Anodising is a very thin coating on the metal that the pan is made from (aluminium).

It makes no difference if the microscopic coating is stronger than a metal that the pan is not made from.

    Hard-anodised construction

    It's not a construction, it's a coating.

  • Hi OP, do you have any cheap stainless steel saute pan that Gordon Ramsay use?

  • Pfoa free non stick, is what exactly? Pfos, pfhxs? Clearly not ceramic as that would be highlighted in neon.

    • Pfoa free non stick, is what exactly?

It's the anodising on the aluminium.

      • Can this surface wear off? Can it be re-seasoned or something?

        • +1

Anodising is hard to wear off as it is part of the metal (it's like rust).

However looking at the pans again they might have an extra non stick coating on them (added on top of the anodised surface)

I thought that they might have meant the anodising was the non stick as anodised surfaces are smooth and non stick (but not as good as Teflon)

Only have a Circulon/non stick for eggs etc. Everything else I've swapped to cast iron or stainless steel

    • What's wrong with cast iron for eggs? What kind of eggs are you cooking?

      • Just easier …yes cast iron should be good enough

    • Hi since you already have this or similar pan i had a random question. If/when you pour oil in it does it stay in the centre or does it flow away to the sides? Is the centre of it raised?

      • I often find this happens to my aluminium pans. I think it's from heating it too high? The base expands and warps into a dome. I've tried flattening it out with a mallet and a block of wood but it quickly went back to the dome shape.

  • This sounds a reasonable price but if they are made of aluminium how can they be suitable for induction cooking?

  • We just threw this brand out suggested by OP. Have the same issues with Estelle and Tefal.

Trying the Myers home brand as of yesterday “ONE”. On sale for an 8 piece for $400 down from the “tell him he’s dreaming” price of $1199. So far so good it’s only early days.

I have been told though that when you cook at high temps they will always stuff up.

Try leaving a lower temp to heat up longer before you start cooking so you don’t need to wind it up.

  • The best non-stick frypan I've ever bought is an $18 Ikea one. Last night used it to cook a frittata from induction stovetop to oven grill. I probably wouldn't push it past 7-8 on the induction: thats what the cast iron griddle is for.

  • Go cast iron for most things, seasons quick, just cook your first few meals with heaps of butter and oil!
