Dirt 3 $5.99 (80% off) @ Get Games Go

160

Hey,

I was browsing "http://getgamesgo.com" this morning and I came across this deal. This game does NOT activate on Steam. You will have to download the game directly from them. DRM is GFWL.

I already own the games and I have to say it's great, especially if you have a wheel for the PC.

Some ultimate edition will be out soon with all DLC…. I would probably hold off until we see how much that is.

    • The ultimate edition already exists.

It doesn't exist on steam, so it doesn't exist for me ;)

  • I have to say I bought this on Steam and thought it was a very bad xBox port - you really need a wheel or controller to play this.

But if you do have a wheel… oh man. So good. To anyone that got a G27 last weekend, get this game!

Just make sure your force feedback isn't all the way up. Dirt 3 has a tendency to kill G27s.

        • Good advice… I turned it down just because it was hurting my arms to use it haha (though I am weak as anything). Nice to have an excuse that isn't based on my own inadequacies :P

        • I have a G27 (&G25) and play Dirt3. Do you have any links to info about the damage. Iam interested to read.

        • Hey turbodude, can't reply to your comment, but I recently had a G27 die due to the "won't stay in alignment" issue:

          http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/G27-wheel-wont-stay-…

I did about 5 hours of Dirt 3 on max force feedback and it died after that.

It's supposedly an easy fix, but I'd prefer to just turn down force feedback than have to fix the thing.

Hmm, I'm not sure any racing game feels great to control with a keyboard. The game is actually pretty well optimised, so I don't think it's a bad port at all.

      • I do all of my racing with keyboard… I wouldn't say I'm a pro, but I sure don't struggle with it. I can't stand any controllers/wheels.
In terms of being a port, its not too bad. I had no issues (except with GFWL)

        • Yuck I hate driving games with a keyboard.
Right: TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP
Left: TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP

If you're going to be doing any games on your PC besides RTS/FPS you NEED an X360 controller, not only are they compatible with almost every PC game today but they're a lot more comfortable & far more accurate for driving games than tapping a bunch of clunky arrow keys with no sensitivity

X360 wired controllers are pretty cheap nowadays anyway, I'm considering getting a 2nd for 2 player games

Its a shame this deal doesn't activate on Steam - kind of a deal breaker for me (just too used to it I guess)

edit: Bought it, was too tempting at that price

      • The Need for Speed series is probably the most key-board friendly racing sim as it's highly arcade-ish, even Shift/Shift 2 which are supposed to have more realistic physics models (but don't).

  • Thanks Pete. I had this previously as it got it free with my new video card. It played brill with my G27 wheel
but i had to activate it with Steam, which killed the games i already had installed from discs.
Windows Live doesnt cause me any probs so this is great!

  • Grrrrrrrrrrrrr bought a copy on EBay last night …sigh!!!!

    • Lol. Same here. Got a copy from Ozgameshop sent last week. Doh! Oh well, only paid $13 boxed copy so not too big a loss.

  • Bought it, started d/l. Estimated 28 hours & 20 minutes remaining at 76 Kb/s!

Wish this download client was better, looks like something from '95 - especially with that world globe>floating paper>computer GIF animation

    • Just finished the 15+ hour download. Clicked install and got an error - seems to appear during the file verification process (after typing activation key). Have emailed GGG with the error logs. Hopefully they get back soon. Pretty disappointing overall.

  • Great game for an even better price!

  • Expired. Back to $29.99
