There is no Airpods Pro 2nd gen?

I think they are "stating that" due to these have Magsafe Charging from previous editions ?

Just got off the phone having a price beat with officeworks, came down to $283

    • Just got off the phone with officeworks and they declined price beat request with my deal.

I recently borrowed a pair of these, and I just don’t see how the price can be justified. So many flaws, and few positives. 1. No volume control . My $50 soundpeats have volume control. 2. The ANC is barely noticeable compared to over-ear headphones. 3. The silicone ear tips make my ears itchy after about 30 mins. 4. Can’t update the firmware to latest version. Followed instructions 10 times but did not work. 5. Switching between devices is complicated, and I haven’t been able to do it. Currently I need to “disconnect” from iPad before I can connect to my iPhone. 6. Less bass than my $50 soundpeats, which I prefer. 8. Sometimes difficult (or impossible) to attach the silicone ear tips if you remove them. 7. The touch controls are fiddly. I like and use a lot of Apple products, but feel they have lost the plot on these AirPods.

@ForkSnorter - I had recently bought these off eBay and had same issues like what you outlined above. Which was completely diff to my friend’s airpod pros which worked flawlessly and switched across devices well. I did a lot of digging around and turns out mine were really good fakes. I ended up returning and getting my money back but it sounds like the ones you tried might have been fake.

You’re right, I just watched a video on YouTube about how to spot a fake from real one, and these do appear to be fakes. Now I’m curious about how good the real ones are. If the fakes can be this good.

  • Still waiting for delivery for a refurbished pair from this mob that were due to be delivered on Monday. Tracking hopeless as was the basic email apology I received.

    • Sorry to inform you but you likely received fakes. I purchased a refurb unit from MyDeal and they were counterfeit. The build quality on the current generation of counterfeit units can be very good. The best way to tell is they can't seem to reproduce the haptic click you get when interacting with the AirPods Pro. The sound quality is way worse, and spatial audio does not work, although transparency and noise-canceling do something? The "silicon" tips are extremely hard to remove and mine had plastic imperfections where the tip attaches to the AirPod.

I went to the store and I have price match Officework, WA, $284.05.

  • +3

got price beat through phone with Officeworks. getting it delivered now for $284.

Officeworks priced matched instore to $284.05

  • Just bought 2 in store at OW for 284 each. They weren’t happy about it though which I suppose is indication of a bargain!

  • Rang up officeworks, but they denied price match, because apparently MyDeal sells grey imports…?

  • my local OW declined price match. Called around and managed to get it price matched with another OW.

  • Just rang Officeworks and got them price matched. Came down to $284

  • Thanks everyone
I rang multiple times to office work customer service hot line but it was closed due to Xmas holiday
Then I rang one office works store and was told my deal is dodgy so they can’t match
Today I finally called customer service hotline again and I got price matched
    Very happy !!

  • Just rang OW and they price matched/beat immediately. Great timing for wifes birthday.

  • I legit created an Ozbargin account to say thanks to the OP for this deal.

Had to go to 2 OW to get the price beat cause the kid at the first store said he couldn't price match as the mydeal site didn't list the model number and he couldn't confirm that it was the same product. Second store I tried they didnt have an issue. Stoked!

    • Hi,

Would you be able to message me a picture of your receipt for the AirPods please?
(with any identifying details excluded of course)

I really want to get a pair for my friend's birthday, hopefully they are more willing to price match with the receipt.

  • Price jacked to $305 so OWPB=289.75

  • I called 2 stores and both said that because the model number is not listed, they can't verify that its australian stock covered by australian warranty so they cannot price match, which is part of their terms and conditions.
Is this a new thing or should I keep trying?
