Is that on giftcard as well ???

  • Would this be online only?

  • What does it mean CB redeemable once you reach rewards goal?

    • You can cashout when you reach every 20. If you earn 50this time ,you can only cashout 20*2, you will need another 10 to cashout the 10 left from this deal.

      • +1

        Cash out when reach $30

        • +6

ZIP has reduced redemption threshold to $20 few months ago.

  • +5

That's max 16.7% off If you find something exactly $300. Maybe buy gift card.
By the way, those bought TCN 15% gift card the swap to JB e-gift card is available again on TCN website now.

    • This can also only be redeemed in $30 increments I think. So you will have to earn extra $10 to take out the rest

      • +1

Mine shows every $20, however that's the same, you will need another 10 anyway.

      • ZIP has reduced redemption threshold to $20 few months ago.

    • Hey mate, I did the ANZ Black rewards card trick, eligable for $800 in JB gift cards.

I can choose physical or digital and I have no idea which is better? What should I do?
(I'll probably buy an expensive TV in a year or two when mine finally dies)

Anyone know ? any reason to choose one over the other?

      • Online. Less chance of losing. Easier to sell if you decide not to use JB. Also fairly sure you can use online gift card for over the phone sales orders made when they send you a link to complete purchase (in case lockdown again).

    • The Ultimate gift cards aren't the same are they?

    • Where is the 15% off?

      • Early Dec Coles sales

  • +5

Unless they have changed it recently, gift card purchases should be possible using the Single Use Card in the Zip App going off the last deal :)

  • +5

zip trying to save its share price?

    • +1

      $10 by Christmas

  • Don't forget JB's boxing day sale starts in a couple of days, so stack with that to make the most savings, as this expires on the 28th.

    • nice, what's good to get? i really don't have anything in mine to purchase, but want to buy something that's a great deal and then additionally get $50 off that sale item.

      • Not sure at the moment, haven't looked too thoroughly at the catalogue, but my mum wants to get a new phone so hoping to score a bit of a better deal on one.

  • would love to know if this works on gift cards…

    • +1

Last time it worked for gift cards purchase using one-time VISA card.

      • Can you use one-time card in store?

        • +1

          Online last time.

You just use the Zip card (with hiden number) added to/in you digital wallet for instore purchase.

          • @Neoika: added immediately, thanks, went through another browser instead of in app purchase

    • Should be, as no way zip will know what you are buying. I don't think they are able to access the receipt. Works everytime instore

  • +1

I highly recommend you dont get it delivered - im still waiting on something from black Friday shipped via Toll.

    • +2

100% Toll has lost your parcel.

They dropped one of mine off on the other side of Sydney at a completely different address. Had the person who received it not contacted me, I really had no recourse of getting it back as Toll accepted no responsibility. They are the worst delivery company by far.

      • Contact the shipper not toll

        • Did both, neither were helpful. The shipper simply said Toll told them it was correctly delivered.

  • +1

Lol, no wonder Zip and the other BNPL companies are tanking. This is their only way to make revenue to. I give them less than a year and they'll be purchased by one of the banks and slowly die.

    • -1

no wonder Zip and the other BNPL companies are tanking

      Wait. Wot?

      https://imgur.com/a/uYoW78W

      • +1

You are comparing the share price of about 10 years ago. Anyone that bought then would have been better off selling already.

        • -1

Only listed with ASE 6 years ago. 'will issue 37.5 million shares at $0.55 per share, a 14.4% discount to the company's 30-day volume weighted average price.'. Point is if anyone thinks a 145% increase in 6 years is 'tanking', then I need to talk to them about where their investments are.

          • +2

@seamonkey: At the time of original listing most people would not have known about upcoming popularity in BNPL and bought ZIP. If they had bought ZIP most likely the purchase price would have been at much higher prices.

Everything is a matter of perspective - a great investment for one person who got in early is a disaster for someone who got in towards the top.

ZIP is down -63% from is top.

      • +1

Look at it by YTD rather than all time. It's lost two thirds since February and is very unlikely to recover there's plenty of press coverage on it. All of the BNPL companies are struggling for revenue growth after exponential growth in 2020 and mired with bad debts which are ten times higher per dollar of revenue than most credit issuers.

        • +1

So their lack of regulation has turned out to be a two-edged sword. Of course the biggest losers will be the shareholders not the CEO types.

    • Zip pay is better than Aftxxxpxx, Klxxxa or other split into 4 payments plan

  • +1

    @mods
Referral box says $30, but when I went into the app to refer it says $10 each for the bonus.

Needs to be updated (looks like it hasn't been updated since this deal expired https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/660592)

  • -3

    Effectively 1-(300/350) = 14.3%. Meh.

Afterpay usually have 10$ off every $50 every now and then, which is 20% off. All year round ;).

    • +2

      1-250/300.

      • -3

No. You have to spent 300, and get 50 in Zip credits (It applies to your zip account, not to your bank account). So it is still spend $300 get $350 value.

        • +1

Zip cashback comes right off the amount you owe them once you redeem the cashback. It's not like a bonus credit but like an AMEX cashback.

  • +3

For anyone looking to apply for a Zip account, Zip do a hard credit check.

    • -4

im confused. you are telling us they do a hard credit check, or you're asking if they do a hard credit check?

      • +1

Telling, that they do perform a hard credit check

    • Yeah, I can get a 600k home loan but didn't pass Zip credit check 🤷

  • +1

i already got the deal on the 22nd on the sold out white OLED nintendo switch from big w through eBay.
i just received it this morning, hooray. just in time for christmas. it game me a delivery date range between 24-30

    • It's nice to hear the good stories here. The dramas and crises receive undue weighting online.
      Merry christmas!

  • +2

Can someone please confirm if $50 cashback applicable on purchase of JB hi-fi gift card from JB hi-fi store or JB hi-fi online?

  • +1

    Hisense A7G 43" 4K $700 with $50 cash back is ok?
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-a7g-43-4k-uhd-led…

  • So just buy something from JB using zip as the payment method and thats all we need to do? No codes etc?

  • Anyone know if you can do partial payment I.e. 300 on zip and rest on gift card?

    • +1

Or just buy a $300 gc then use that to purchase whatever you need

  • Damn, i pick up my ps5 yesterday from jb paid by zip..
From the SMS they send yesterday, it stated that they will hold the ps5 for 4 days..should have wait till today to pick up afterwork.

  • How does the Zip monthy fee work ?

I see they charge $7.95 per month, but is that irrespective of paying your minimum installment ?

    • +2

Correct. Until the balance is zeroed you pay 7.95 p/m on top of whatever amount you choose to pay off. For arguments sake if you decide to pay off $200 p/m you'll pay $207.95 p/m.

      • +1

        Legend

  • Anyone bought giftcards? Did it work?

  • I have a feeling that you might need to use "ZIP" checkout to get this deal rather than "Single-Use Card" and when I tried to checkout with a JB HIFI GC, the web will not allow me to check out with "ZIP".

Has anyone tried buying GC with this deal and get the cashback?

    Thanks!

  • +8

Bought $300 gc using zip single use card. Can confirm $50 gets added to your zip rewards balance. It's an immediate $40 off (2x $20 reward redemption). You'll need another $10 worth of "zip cashback" to redeem the 3rd $20 off tho. Bummer.

    • +1

I'm treating it as a $260 for $300 gc ~13.33% off, still think its a fair deal.

If I end up buying other things through zip and can end up redeeming the $10 that'll just be a bonus.

    • Rewards expire in a year, so maybe there’s still a chance to grab that last $10

    • Perfect! just tried purchasing GC with "Single Use Card". :)

      Thanks!

    • +1

Did you buy the giftcard online or in-store?

      • Online

        • +1

Thanks. Received $50 in rewards immediately. I had $18.50 already in rewards, so I was able to redeem $60 (3x 20) that leaves $8.50 in my rewards.
          Good deal. :)

    • Can confirm, just did the same and it was instant.

  • Just confirming this deal still applies to exisiting Zip customers who have shopped at JB before? i.e. it doesn’t have to be your first purchase at JB with Zip?

  • I just used the zip one off card to buy $300 JB gift card. The gift card hasn't been emailed delivered yet and my zip balance is still the same.

Anybody know how long it all takes?

    • My e-gift card took 16 minutes to be delivered, it shouldn’t take too long.

But If your zip account hasn’t been charged yet, it may take longer if they do a fraud check on their end in the background.

  • Can someone explain this to me like I'm 10? I don't understand how this cashback and rewards thing works.

I thought it was all straightforward. Buy something for more than $300 and get $50 back in your balance. Is it not?

    • +2

Unfortunately, there is no @WookieMonster here. Based on the comments and the links I provided above, one should be able to figure out how it works.

      • Ok so I've looked at other examples. But I don't get the rewards target thing. All I want to know is, if I spend more than $300, will I see that $50 cashback in my balance? So i pay back $250 instead of $300?

        • +5

You will see $50 in rewards that you can redeem back on your zip balance in lots of $20. So redeem $20 and your payable amount becomes $280. Redeem another $20 and your payable amount becomes $260. The last $10 of the $50 you can’t redeem until you accumulate another $10 in rewards from other orders which earn cash back. The time limit to redeem rewards is a year. Hope this helps

          • @Meenas: Ok I get it now. Thanks a lot. Wish it was clear in the app. This doesn't feel right.

  • I’ve used single use zip card for a similar deal/situation previously buying gift cards. Rewards usually show up instantly.

Zip balance deducted. Purchase complete, but the rewards haven’t showed up this time ?
Shows $300 spent at JB HI FI via zip pay.
    🤨

    • I'm in the same situation… do we have to wait for 3-5 business days before rewards balance is updated?

    • Got it?

      • Yes. Overnight the reward ended up appearing on my account. Happy days!

        • whats your plan on the rest $10?

          • +2

@ozbbcuk: Inevitable another promo will turn up at some point in the not to distant future. have gotten close to $100 in cash back in last 6 odd months from various deals.

    • i don't see the zip option on payment method if I buy a gift card…

      • In the app, you need to go to the Cards tab and select the Shopping online? (Use a single use card for secure online).

It'll generate a one time credit card that you use to pay in the credit/debit section at JB.

  • Thanks OP - Confirmed - setup a single use card on Zip (it’s not very bloody obvious where to do this for the uninitiated - “Cards” at the bottom of the Zip app then “Shopping Online?” at the bottom of that screen) then use those details to pay for your gift card(s). Rewards redeemable on Zip immediately after completing payment to JB.

  • Worked for me also.Grabbed a $300 gift card and reward was there immediately.. Thanks OP

  • can you tap in store with google pay and get the cashback?

    • Are you linking Zip to Google pay? I havent done that so no idea. I have ZIp as my primary phone payment option to typically tap and go with that.

  • Are you sure you can buy a $300 gift card using Zip Pay and make use of the promotion? On the link to details about the promotion, it specifically says that you cannot use ZipPay to buy JB Hi Fi gift cards.

    • You cannot check out with Zip, but you can definitely use Zip to pay (Use One-time CC).

  • +1

Anyone have any idea how to get to the $20 reward balance quickly? With this promo, there will be $10 reward balance left over. I have been using Zip a lot but my reward balance barely budge stuck at 3 bucks for months.

  • +1

Just did it using the single use card number. Worked fine. Got the $50 reward already.

  • I made a purchase instore this morning but still haven't received the rewards

    • Me 2, I guess because the payment is still pending…

    • The rewards was instant for me. I just had to refresh the zip app rewards balance
