  • can u get the i5 version?

    • It appears there are two i5 models listed in the first link…

      • hmm but you dont get the free mouse and case (of course the cashback is worth more) and you cant customise the SSD and wifi and bluetooth

the codes from last week gave you 20% off anything > $700 so people on whirlpool were going through the student site for 5% off, upgrading the i3 to i5, add BT, 2x2wifi, 128gb SSD (on sale) + 3x$1 accessories, then 20% off
All up like <$500 for core i5 with everything incl ssd

        • +1

How to do it thru "student site"?

        • can you pls explain the exact procedure, not sure how to go on student site and whats the code?

        • +1

sorry forgot to mention the deal finished. I was just saying im holding out for a similar deal in value

          i hate cashbacks

        • do you have link for that info on wp ? (even though it's expired)

  • +2

    complicated

  • Sounds good though

  • +1

I would love one of these laptops, if only they had docking capabilities.

For now I'm stuck with my ancient Dell D420.

    • D420 is old indeed.

    • Why are you still using the D420? Time to upgrade!

    • I deal with them every day at work… Needless to say, a BIN is the best tool for that laptop.

  • no stocks for megabuy?

    • I emailed them yesterday and they confirmed they are available to order with shipping in 1-3 business days.

  • +1

Can we buy the laptop from lenova site rather then megabuy.com.au

    • No you cant if you want cashback.
      Read my response below.

  • @skytree… You cant do it thru 'student site' infact you cant do it if you buy 'direct from Lenovo' website.
The combined rebate applies only if you buy thru an Authorised reseller.

    From Powerbuy website.
From 17th March 2012 this deal is NOT available if you buy directly from Lenovo (this includes BOTH website AND phone sales)

  • Maybe it's worthwhile to note that you will not be getting CASH from Lenovo. It will be a Visa Debit card with cash value in it.

    • +2

Worth mentioning they take AGES !! my cash back took about 3 months

    • Note that Powerbuy either sends a cheque or transfers the money into your bank account depending on your preference.

Glad I bought mine directly from Lenovo before they excluded them from the cashback. Unfortunately that ruled out claiming from moneytree.

  • +1

Word of warning if you buy lenovo and need warranty service, they had my laptop for 6 weeks, never knew what was going on, constantly gave excuses as to why it wasn't fixed, not until I contacted head of customer care australia did anything get done and sent back to me.

    • my laptop was DOA, took them 2.5 months to giev me a new one and now chasing me for a dead laptop, i told em i chucked it in the bin, they can get it from the local garbage dump.

    • Your words. They make no sense to me.

  • Powerbuy rep should mention MegaBuy delivery charges in the title - eg $15.95 to my address near Melbourne CBD.

    • The title includes "+ Shipping" which means you need to add shipping which is different to each location.

      • +2

Give example shipping prices to Syd, Mel etc.

  • +1

PowerBuy Rep should also mention in order to get this deal, you need to register for PowerBuy subscription and registration requires ABN number. i.e. from clause 3(d) of PowerBuy's terms and conditions:

    d. To become a member, please click www.powerbuy.com.au/subscribe/, complete the subscription form and nominate your preferred subscription package. You must have an Australian Business Number ("ABN") to register. POWERBUY reserves the right to refuse your registration for any reason.

Hence, the deal is no good if you don't have an ABN (which some of us probably wont)

    • You are able to place it under your work ABN, or an ABN of friends/family members. The ABN holder is not notified of this purchase.

      • +1

If that's the case, why the need for an ABN? I mean, if that's the case, what's stopping everyone simply grabbing a random ABN from someone else's website (including the ABN for MegaBuy or Lenovo)?

        • Our website has business (ABN holders) and consumer (open to the public) deals. But we want consumers to also get this laptop at this great price so we don't mind if you put it under your employers ABN to do so. Our system needs an ABN for this product.

The claim still needs to be approved if the ABN is random such as Lenovo and MegaBuy it may be declined.

        • +1

So if your website is already set up to handle 'consumer (open to the public) deals', why not make it easier for ordinary Australians to take advantage of this deal?

        • +2

I'll probably use PowerBuy's ABN…if I am to buy anything
for now the deal doesn't looks interesting to me

  • What are the prices of the i5 and i7? please :)

      Oh hey man!
      Welcome to the internet!
      I suggest you try www.google.com

  • Do you need an ABN for Powerbuy?

I've gotten a NAS approved without an ABN
They emailed me back saying that I didn't need an ABN and got a Seagate cashback which was pretty good

My 4 bay Seagate NAS ended up costing me $145

    6 months ago in 2011!
E320 with 2GB ram(ram is cheap anyway) for $389.22 delivered straight from Lenovo(no need cashback)
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52204

now 6 months later in 2012!
    E320 with 4GB ram for $597.63(pay upfront) -$120 cashback -$100 cashback(need to deal with 2 cashback)
and on top of the complicated cashback, you're paying delivery fees,
so that's more like $377.63+$20(I just round it up) = $390~$398

as I said earlier, this deal doesn't looks interesting to me! ;-)

    • +2

Prices increased because of the hard disk shortage, plus other reasons attributed to economy.

But yeah, last year I got my:

      E320 + Core i5 2410m + 4GB RAM + 7400RPM upgrade + 320GB external drive for only $520 delivered.

$398 for a Core i3 laptop with a 5400rpm drive with no accessories doesn't seem like much of a deal anyore.

  • Great battery awful track pad, wait for another Lenovo discount code.

    • Seconded. I could never get the track pad to scroll properly. Would get me cranky quickly.

  • matte or glossy screen?

  • would this deal work on this?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Edge-E520-15-6-Co…
And what is the different between the thinkpad edge series and the G series?
I got a g570 6 month ago for $390 after $50 cash back from lenovo.
    It was/still is a 4GB ram, i3-2310,640G HDD, ATI 6370M/1G graphic card, Win7 64bit.
If there is no real different then this is not really a good deal.

      • is that a yes or a no?
or were you even replying to my question?

        • I'd say yes. make sure the vendor is going to give you an invoice with the purchase.

  • The E320 listed on MegaBuy.com.au has 'Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)' not 'Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)' as advertised on the PowerBuy.com.au website..

    http://www.powerbuy.com.au/offers/lenovo-thinkpad-edge/

  • Notes:

You need to reserve your cash-back before buying the laptop to get the extra $20 cash-back from PowerBuy IT.

    inconsistent with:"How to get it:

Go to http://www.powerbuy.com.au/refer/165E08C8FB/?target=/offers/... and reserve your cash-back.

Head to http://www.megabuy.com.au/lenovo-thinkpad-edge-e320-13-intel... and purchase the Lenovo E320.

When you receive your laptop upload your tax invoice at www.powerbuy.com.au to receive your $120 cash-back -SURPRISED NO ONE PICKED UP THIS ERROR?

    • Read again mate…whats inconsistent?
Clearly says if you reserve your cashback you receive extra $20 …total $120 instead of $100 from powerbuy.
      'EXTRA' is the keyword :)

      • sorry
        my mistake

  • You don't get cash from lenovo, it comes on a debit card.

  • Not a deal for me because:
    - Its a cashback(too big risk.)
-You have to deal with Negabuy.

    P.S- I gave a +ve vote before I noticed this.

    No Wi-Fi on these models?
