  • Does anyone know with the ‘offers’ tab in the Amex app, are there any drawbacks of just activating/adding all the available offers to my card?

    • +3

The only drawback seems to be getting offer and offer expiry reminders.

    • +5

A main drawback of adding all offers is that you may easily forget the real valuable offers that you may actually use.

    • +10

The people who would use them miss out.

    • +7

Worthwhile question to ask. As the others have pointed out, it is best to not to save offers you don’t intend on using as others may miss out due to limits applied

      • -2

        sounds like socialism

      • Thanks all, I didn’t realise there was a limited number of offers available to everyone.

I have a Westpac card too, where offers are automatically applied. It’s nice with the way they do it because it means being able to shop as I normally would and sometimes getting cash back unexpectedly.

I was hoping to make it more like my Westpac card so I could have a nice surprise cash back if I unknowingly happened to shop at one of the offered businesses. It would suck if I made a purchase somewhere only to find out later I could have applied an offer, but I guess they want people using their app.

        • I must be doing it wrong because I activate and track my offers and plan my shopping around them whenever possible. I do not like the surprise of missing out on bonuses I could have received. But doing it your way would be less time consuming.

    • forget other commenters talking about others missing out, who cares. the real reason you don't do this is that then Amex tailors your future offers to garbage, all I get nowadays are wine and fashion offers

      • Ah I didn’t realise this was how they did it, I thought they just presented any offers that were available. I accidentally added an offer and there was no way to remove it.

  • +3

There was also an Oporto spend $25 get $5 back available on my cards

    • Thanks missed that. I’ve also got Pendellinos in the strand

  • +1

Did a dummy Red Rooster online order for delivery and could only pay with Visa/Mastercard. Can anyone confirm they even accept Amex instore?

And yes I realise it says 'in-person' in the conditions.

Last time I had an Amex (about a year ago), I was able to use it in-store at my local RR without any issues.

  • Can anyone recommend something good I can get at Red Rooster for 2 people ?
I do not have any Red Rooster places nearby but I'll be driving past in a few days so it would be good to know what's good on their menu.

      • +1

Just ate my chicken from here and got my Amex email about using the offer. So no chat required. Either it was already part of the deal (despite the transaction name), or they updated it because of you :)
