Is that a good price for a little fridge?

        • +4

          No

        • It's around right for a cheap drinks fridge. An actual bar fridge will be cheaper but may not have the storage layout you require. I have little bar fridge in my garage and am seriously thinking about replacing it with a proper drinks fridge.

      • Thank you, wasn't in title as per OB requirements, but good job.

For whatever reason, having a glass door really ups the price for any fridge.

  • looks fency but it is too expensive

When you consider this is listed as suitable for outdoor use the cost shoots right up. Likely has far better insulation, protection from the elements and an extra layer on the heated glass door.

    - Double glazed heated glass door

Yeah that all sounds good, but it will prob still die in about 3 years time like all chinese junk does.

  • +3

Not really an outdoor fridge, instructions say "please ensure it is not left in the weather or in direct sunlight".

With a requirement like that, any bar fridge is suitable for "outdoor" use.

  • Does it still have a 1 star energy rating like previous versions?

    • its actually -5 stars. it needs a steady supply of smouldering coal right next to it to function.

      • SlowMo's mates Angus & Matt have a deal for you! They'll probably pay you to run it.

    • Keen to know this too.
      No mention in the manual.

  • This falls in a bit of a weird place for me. $500 for a $118L bar fridge isn't a good deal, but it does boast features that go above and beyond your regular unit. Comparable unit from TheGoodGuys is $848 so may go well?

    • Looks like the GG one is stainless steel all over, the Aldi one isn’t so may explain the price difference.

    • They look remarkably similar don't they (apart from the exterior panels). Same factory no doubt.

Inverter compressor would be nice at least, especially at GG price.

  • $50 delivery to metro location

    • And "Currently delivering to selected postcodes in NSW, ACT, VIC & QLD"

  • I'm in the market for one of these.
I have a small fridge that is over 20 years old and going strong, but don't like the look of a white door front on my new deck.

Has Aldi sold these m the past and it so has any one got any feedback on now they go?
Would also think that on extra rack would be good if you wanted to fill with just cans.

    • I too would be interested in any feed back on these units, in particular the noise level. Some commercial units can be quiet noisy. Pretty sure Aldi have offered these before for the same price

    • Gotta say I'm tempted, even with the $50 delivery cost. A possible alternative would be something like https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/schmick-70l-outd…. At $667 is more expensive, and it is much smaller at 70l but it seems to have a good reputation. It has a triple glazed door which would help with energy usage…. and frankly 70l is probably enough. Only 2 year warranty though compared to 3 for the Aldi. Should also note that the Aldi has ventilation down the bottom so can be built in.

Having said all that, the 118l Schmick fridge looks almost identical to the Salt version at the Good Guys which in turn looks just like the Aldi fridge only again double versus triple glazed…… So I reckon they are all the same basic design, possibly built in the same factory but with slightly different materials. I'm leaning towards giving the Aldi a punt.

FWIW The stainless steel 118l Schmick is rated at using 1.60 kW/24hrs. The Aldi with only double glazed glass will likely use a little more if you want to also factor in running costs.

      • Thanks for your input spaceman. I have viewed many units online and compared the specs. Will be jumping on board for the Aldi unit after extensively summarizing similar units. $499 is a reasonable price compared to other units costing $300+ more.

  • I presume the Aldi will use more energy because it’s double glazed but heated door which would help prevent condensation?
My use case is outside on the deck, which does get condensation during warm winter days.

    • It will likely use more energy than if it had triple glazing, but I suspect not a huge amount more. The main thing would be to try to keep it in a relatively protected area - the more sun etc it is exposed to, the more electricity it will of course use trying to keep the contents cool….

  • What time do they normally become available online today?

EDIT: Just realised I had to create an account and now shows as in stock

    Mine just arrived
Can tell it’s built to a price point
Good seal on the door, it feels weighty too
As long as it works, I’ll be happy
    Don’t need a fancy fridge
