  The problem with glasses with a /_\ shape instead of the regular \_/ shape is that you have less grip and they slip very easily from your hands, especially when moist. I bought a set once and after a few slipped and broke I preferred not to but any glasses with that shape anymore

    They are more stable with this shape though. With your preferred shape, they can be knocked over far easier and I reckon by shape are actually weaker due to a bigger (more exposed) top so more prone to chipping/knocking against other glasses.
