Why would you need a doona for summer? You can probably guess I am not raised here in Australia :)

    • +7

For example, VIC weather is like 4 season in 1 day and even like it's hot like 30 degree today, the next day it can drop below 15…

      • +13

Actually here in Victoria it can be 4 seasons in 1 hour

        • +6

Well, it happen only when the weather changed like heavy rainfall/thunderstorm in the next hour…
Also, those pollen is such a mess right now…Can't stand it…

          • +1

@jwing0001: Hard agreed with the pollen issue!

I am so glad I bought 100 tablets of hayfever meds at the very start of spring…worst.pollen.ever

It can be quite warm when you go to bed, half way through the night it can get quite cool. Also agree with jwing0001, it can be warm one day and cool the next. Some days it can be 28 and hours later about 14.

We like the feel of being covered when sleepin

      • what about with xenia onatopp whilst sleepin?

  • Inhibits antibacterial growth? That's hard to believe as any fabric overtime without care will inhibit growth right?

    • +1

It's machine washable at least which is a plus

  • "A general tontine"

Queen is showing as $64 for me? Looks like that one is not directly from Amazon

    • Me too

    • Yeah queens shows to be shipped from 'Deal First'

    • I got a Queen from Amazon earlier for $39, maybe they’ve sold out and are selling from other sellers now.

  • I bought a Sheridan all seasons quilt a couple of months ago.

It was so hot that we couldn't even use it in Spring!

I'm a bit wary now with trying to buy another one.

I bought a "summer" quilt from Kogan last summer. It was warm enough that I used it all winter…and not in summer

I don't think summer doona is a thing honestly

    • +7

A summer doona in Queensland is called a sheet.

    • I read the kmart low warmth quilts are meant to be good. Haven't tried personally though.

      • +1

I've had a variety of brands, and the Kmart low warmth quilts are the only ones I've ever been able to use in summer.

The coolest I have found is an IKEA VÅRSTARR -

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/varstarr-duvet-cool-30457875/

They are a bit thin, but has some weight to it so it feels like you have a thicker doona over you.

    • not really a summer one then?

  • +1

God everyone here is using different terms. Whats being sold here is a quilt and I thought by nature that quilts are not for summer but winter? Blanket is more for "cool performance"? Where the hell does a doona fit in all of this…

    • +1

I think it's more about design than material. Eg blankets are solid, quilts have some limited stuffing, doonas have heaps of stuffing?

    • Doona is/was a brand of Duvet.

  • 1.4kg is not something you want on you unless it's winter where I live and probably only a few nights then.

    • The IKEA one I listed above is thin but has some weight to it (probably more of a quilt than a doona), so it stays pretty cool. I am in Byron, so summer nights here are not like Darwin/Cairns, but still pretty hot/humid.

  • +2

Considering it's a polyester quilt, this does NOT seem like it should be used anywhere near summer.

Thanks for sharing op! Looks like I missed out on the queen one. Any recommendations for something for summer?

  • +1

Thin cotton doonas are the best for summer imo

  • Bought a couple at the last sale nice quality but these are still too warm for Sydney…maybe OK for Melbourne.
All Seasons term is too vague. They should have a temperature rating or something more specific.
Interested in the "summer" quilts at IKEA and KMart though. Thanks.

  • It doesn’t seem to be a good price according to the camel camel camel
