Hi OzB, recommend me a Living Room Projector Please

Hi Ozbargain,

I'm looking to purchase a projector during boxing day sales and am after some advice from the pro's!

My requirements are:

  • budget: $2500. Can stretch for the right projector.
  • 4k (probably can't get native for that price, so pixel shifting 4k would suffice)
  • high brightness at least 3000 ANSI lumens
  • not In a rush, happy to wait

Use case

  • it will be used in a small living room. Room size is 4.2x4.6
  • projector lens will be approx 4m away from the screen
  • it will be replacing a tv
  • it won't really be used for gaming
  • mostly used for Netflix and YouTube

Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Ive referred to ChrisMajestic videos but only found them somewhat useful as all the models are US names and hard to find equivalent locally.

    I was considering the viewsonic px748 (better brightness) or px728 (better colours) before i jumped at a deal for the Samsung premiere LSP7T. Or the Optoma hd35+ which the americans seem to love https://www.justprojectors.com.au/optomauhd35+.htm

    I would avoid most epsons because their “4k” is actually only 2x 1080p instead of 4x 1080p like the other pixel shift technologies.
