1824

The dick Smith gaming clearance hasn't appealed to all due to the haphazard manner of leaking and the irregular stock levels but this deal is undoubtedly awesome.
And the majority of stores seem to have stock.

I just saw it in my local but the price seems unchanged online…

Get at it!

For those asking about cockpits, I bought the Rennsport Wheel Stand - http://www.gamesmen.com.au/catalog/rennsport-wheel-stand-by-…

I think it's excellent value for money, allows the wheel to be folded away neatly, and you can use pretty much any chair that you like with it.

Having said that, I've had my G27 setup for about 2 years now and I've probably played it 5 times. GT5 works a treat though.

  • any good guides on making your own stand or whatever

    these can be quite pricey

    • You see the links we posted, jump on eBay too there are plenty of others avail, although you get what you pay for really.

We posted links to the template too so you can even make your own.

  • My local dick smith said it doesn't start until Thursday and won't honour any of those prices until then????

  • Well it ain't $139 on the website today…

  • +3

It all doesn't make sense, if you want to offload all your old G27 stock you'll get rid of them all just as easily priced at $200 than you would at $139. I'm starting to think this was just a massive pricing error from DSE HQ, like they put the Driving Force GT price against the G27 or something. I've noticed the G27 isn't listed on the leaked price list either.

With that said, I'm very happy with my $139 G27 from yesterday.

    • $139 is too good to be true. Massive fail on DSE, win for the Ozebargain community.

  • Wish I noticed this yesterday. Still might pop into my local DS which has them in stock to see if they are still selling them cheap.

  • Yeah runaway bay, QLD don't seem to be playing the game. Sale apparently doesn't start until thursday according to them ????

  • Price is back to 499

  • +2

They won't discount it said its 499 :(

  • Just went to Lidcombe store and they said they hadn't heard of the deal ? Rang Parramatta store and they confirmed the $139 sale price but said they have sold out. Why the dicrepancy between stores ?? Oh I wanted one so badly at $139 !

    • Same here, a store a called up had it, but wouldn't sell it for $139, he said he is looking at DSE global pricing and that they cannot do it for $139. I told him that I rang up other stores, eg. Parramatta, Liverpool, etc, and they all confirmed it was $139 but all sold out. Why the difference between stores?

  • +1

Can someone post the receipt please? I would like to bring it to the at Dick Smith to reduce the price to $139 as he refuse to do so.

    • Plenty are posted on this thread.

  • There's a few posted in the earlier pages of this thread and also the reduced sign in the link on the original post, good luck hope you get one!

  • I just picked up one this morning from Pakenham at $139.

They had the $139 sticker up but it scanned as $499 but since it
was advertised they put it through as $139. One of the staff then
took the $139 price sign off.

They had about 6 left, most of them hiding in the back corner.

  • anyone managed to pick one up in Adelaide?

    • One store said the price was 499
    • another said they are now owned by Hilco, so don't take part in the sale.
    • -6

I picked up 5 from the Norwood store yesterday

      • +3

        One for each finger?

      • wanna sell me one? Rang up DSE Norwood and they said it was only for 1 hr yesterday?

      • So you're the douche they stupidly reserved 5 over the phone for….

        • +1

          mad bro?

        • -6

I can sell you one for $195 Thierry and could even drop it to your place if you live somewhere reasonable. Cheaper than any retail cheaper than any ebay buy now.

Magoo: I didn't reserve them over the phone, I went into the store asked about them, then I asked how many they had, they said 6. So I took 5. Although it is a douche thing to do, I saw it as a good business opportunity to make a couple hundred extra dollars.

        • -5

Definitely a good way to make some quick cash. Nothing wrong with that at all, although people on this site that live in your area are going to act all butthurt and cry about how what you did wasn't 'in the ozbargain spirit'. To them I say: lol. You should've been quicker.

      • I was there at 12pm yesterday. It was selling for $499.

  • I was actually in DSE at roselands at 330pm yesterday and looked at the G27s and they did not have the discounted price. It was marked at $499. It sounds like the store may have intentionally NOT advertised the price.
I hope they have the same fate as the Menai DSE - CLOSING DOWN.

What a bunch of Nice Guys.

  • No luck in WA. Called both cannington stores, one says they don't even know about it and it must be a mistake. Second store rep says he knew about it yesterday and it lasted only half a day which I think is a load of crap. Asked him I've got a receipt to prove it and he said he won't honour it.

Rather disappointed with the discrepencies in their replies. Isn't this considered as false advertising?

  • +3

Fairfield is the dodgey store. Called up a 15mins ago, said they had one in stock, but refused to reduce the price. Went to store with the photo from this post to convince them to reduce but they said ran out of stock since yesterday. Lies. Wasted my time

    • I called DSE George St this morning, plenty of stock but price is $499. They said $139 1 day sale, ended 1/4/12. Even JB are not falling for the receipts/Price match. Although JB have the wheel for $209.30
      http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/pc-games/logitech-g27-wh…

      • i went down to try to buy one but they won't let me :(

    • my friend managed to get the last one, it was broken in the box. He had to refund it today…

  • Price is definitely 139 at Tweed Heads DSE - just bought one 10 mins ago. They have 5 left at the back. Bit lucky that I am here on holidays this weekend, now to bring it back to Syd via Jetstar… Also question whether I need it, think I just got ozbargained LOL I think I will be selling it within a month.

  • just rang my local and was told no deal! $499

  • I'm not a rep, have a read of the comments, lot's of pissed customers.

"Orbis – meaning “circle” in latin – is ironic considering backwards compatibility (the ability to play PS3 games on the PS4) will not be a feature for the new console. So what is the significance of using such a term? Maybe the new system will feature more connectivity between gamers? Online gaming will most likely receive an upgrade with the new system."

  • Sooo pissed off right now @ the Pakenham store.

Was at another store near work looking for the G27 at about 10am. They said they had sold out but the Pakenham store had 15. I ring up and sure enough they had 'plenty' in stock at 139. So I ring up my dear wife at home and she so kindly agrees to pack the kids into the car and go on a bargain run. Thought I might make it easier for her so I ring up again and tell them to put one aside for her. 'Yeah no worries' was the reply.

Wife gets there and they won't honor the deal. Nothing at the counter for her. I didnt even get upset at the whole sale thing gone wrong but this is just ridiculous. Bastards.

I see leggs11 picked one up at about the same time I called. Lucky!

  • Back to Lidcombe I went to at least get a price match on the G27 (JB - $209) figured its still a good price…BUT they wont even price match + they had removed all the G27 stock from the shelves…told me they had 33 in stock but couldnt sell them for the $139 price. Reason: We are closing down…!!…good riddance I say! I will get it delivered FREE from JB

    • Hang on…there are not 2 versions of the G27 right ? The JB website says format = PC…can someone confirm that ther is only one type and will work with PS3..Thank you.

      • Yep works with both.

      • Yes one type, PS2/PS3/PC

  • +4

It always amazes me how much personal greed takes over when sales like this come up, ie: people suggesting that they have purchased 3-5 wheels. The idea for oz bargain is to spread the word of great deals so others can benefit. Surely purchasing 1 wheel for yourself is a bargain, why not leave other stock so more people benefit?????

    • -1

      Totally agree!

    • -1

Downside of ebay. Has created a world of would be scalpers.

  • greedy is human nature… i saw one couples bought 3 of them yesterday!

  • I bought 2.. one for me.. one for my brother..

He doesn't want it.. so i'm passing it on to an Overclockers member who missed the sale at the cost of $139

Not everyone who buys more than one are arseholes.. however most are

  • People in Brisbane store didn't seem to know much about it. Was still $499 there.

  • +1

I have rang a couple of place now and it they are all saying $499. I was told it was a pricing error for yesterday… bummer I missed out

    • same story here

  • The one day I took a break from Net, this deal happened. Not happy.

  • -4

    189 to be more precise.

    • +3

189 is the price for the driving force gt.

  • -1

Not happy!…gold coast stores not playing the game none of them had it at $139 yesterday or today.
Also went to loganholme 2 left this morning ticketed at yes $499.not reduced!!!!!

    DSE Eat my shorts.

Also went to logan central 1 left not boxed but not displayed and still would not budge on $499…fair dinkum that's un Australian ..no wonder there going bust.

    • As posted above, Tweed Heads DSE definitely had it for $139.

  • +2

Anyone who missed out should consider back ordering one through jb hi-fi online for $209 with free shipping or pick one up instore.
That price is still an amazing price for a really good quality wheel. My guess is it wont last even at $209!

  • Bs
Dse in Sydney city isn't selling for 149

  • +1

Likewise, went to 3 shops and said no, we don't know what you're talking about. I felt like a fool. Disappointed.

    They had them at $499.

  • Gaaaaah if anyone has one extra in vic please let me know… I was so close to getting one :/

  • staff said it was a pricing error
    syd cbd

  • Apparently this sale was an internal error :)

There was an urgent email sent around DSE stores telling people it was a mistake. hehe

    • Their loss, out epic gaming gain! :)
I should be studying but enjoying this wheel too much…

      • how do you have it mounted?!!

        • To my desk hahah and I dare not use my gear box cause it's mounted to a glass bedside table hahaha. It's a weak as hell mount but I don't give a damn, it's just too much awesome. Can't wait till I get this baby properly mounted to something more worthy! :)

        • haha yea the gears are awesome but you definitely need it securely attached. I'm starting to think the only way to fully enjoy this is to get a proper cockpit. We can only hope there is another pricing error/massive drop on them somewhere.

    • +1

Guys make sure when you mount it that you screw the buttons down, but then there is another final push n twist you can do which is like a spring load for the final clamping of the mechanism - this normally secures it tightly.

We posted the link to the diagrams earlier in this thread if you wanna make something to use the bolt holes under the wheel/pedals/shifter if you wanna go that way, let us know if you can't find it and we'll repost it

      • Any reason why the need to screw the button down? I also find that the pedals works best on carpet with the carpet grip. The rubber feet are not sticky enough on smooth surfaces causing the pedals to slide away durin intense racing.

        • +1

It's a feature built into the design, for most people turning the knobs tight might be enough. For others having that last piece of tightness is needed, hence the option of doing either to suit your needs using the spring loading built in.

The Pedal Box has been designed for either smooth or carpet floors and generally it works fine on both, a lot depends on the angle you are sitting to the pedal box and how slippery the floor is of course, but again, we included the flip down carpet grip to try take care of that situation.

Best bet is a cockpit, bolted onto the unit - it's sturdy, tight & provides the best experience all round.

  • So many "unwanted gift" G27s popping up on ebay today xD

Why do they feel the need to make an excuse for why they're selling it? Just makes it super obvious who bought them today for $139…

    • People these days seems to be very generous with their gifts.

  • Wish someone had given me 2 G27's for my birthday………

Anyone keen to onsell in Sydney let me know I am in the market for one :)

  • -1

wasted my time driving around to yesterday, thought this was a clearance as there not dealing in games anymore.

dse must have a change in mind due to all the hype last few days, good marketing scheme.

  • lol this guy ended up selling both of his "birthday presents" on ebay but he only got $211 and $207 for them.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-g27-gaming-wheel-brand-n…

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=32…

After ebay and paypal fees I don't think he would have made very much off them.

    • But he still makes a profit.

      • +1

I just noticed that he had "free courier" listed as well so he would have had to pay ~$20 in postage fees out of his own pocket for each one, so he didn't make much at all.

        • Served him pretty well then.

        • at $211 -ebay -paypal =$189 -shipping $30 =$159

          Profit $20 x2 =$40

        • +2

It's still a profit. $40 can buy you 2 NDSi if you are lucky.

        • lets say he has cheaper shipping and it works out to even $60 profit. That is hardly worth the risk of selling it and dealing with dodgy buyers and paypal reversals. I've always been weary of selling large ticket electronic items on ebay as I've heard people often claim DOA and send you back their own broken item. You'd have no way of knowing unless you wrote down the serial numbers etc (and sometimes you need to open the box to do that - again that would mean the item is not new/unopened if you described it as new/unopened on the listing).
This really does not seem worth the hassle! they just stole someones bargain for almost nothing. Bargain Burglars!

        • I have seen items being listed as new/unopened but the comments says open just for inspection to ensure parts are all include.

        • I guess you'd need to write down the serial and need to be able to prove to paypal that was the item you sent. Not sure what the chances of that would be given paypals track record for backing sellers. Seems to always go in the favour of buyers.

        • Mr-waste-$279-post office waiting line time-eBay posting-a lot of wasted time-just for 40bucks

          LOL
