eBay Futu has a Seagate 8TB internal drive at $245 before the current 20% off for eBay Plus members (or 25% off with Afterpay) promotion.
The Afterpay price is the cheapest price per TB I've seen around lately ($22.97/TB), although this is an SMR drive if that matters for your use.
Not a totally unique area for the price, as MSY has the same drive for $189 until tomorrow but with the Afterpay code it comes out a few dollars cheaper.

Same on my Synology but I've been running 8 of them in my NAS which all have over 53,000 hours (6 years 24/7). I had to replace 1 in that time.
(and yes I have offsite backups and 2 disk fault tolerance)
The only reluctant on getting this is, if I raise a support case with QNAP, the first thing they check is whether all the connected drives are supported or not

Using the same deal, you can get WD Red 8TB for not much more (~$250) which is not a bad deal, considering the last time I had to buy one due to a failed drive, I paid over $300.

Probably, but you get used to it, which is why all that really matters on this website is the flat post-discount cost rather than the %. "Regular" price for a similar deal at Umart https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666859 is also $299, and Shopping Express also have it at $199 currently with a "regular" price of $339.
