[Unobtainable] Breville Dual Boiler BES920 Black $995 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

Moved to Forum: Original Link

I've been watching prices for the BES920 for at least 2 months - lowest recently was David Jones $979.
Stock levels starting to increase, however limited options for the black version.

They offered to sell it to me at the Black Friday price "early" for $995 (I didn't negotiate).
If it goes cheaper elsewhere, at least they have their Price Guarantee.

Shame their 2 year product care is $150.

  • It shows as $1249 for me.

    • The storeperson said it will go to $995 tomorrow, so call ahead and reserve a unit because stock is limited!

Better to price match at JB with David Jones and pay with 15% off gift cards - brings it down to $832.15

        • David Jones price went up to $1999, but guess can price match this HN if goes to $995 tomorrow. but buying/using10 gift card from this offer might not be accepted?. Can get 6% discount on HN gift cards so price would be $935.

      • did they mention if any other models are going to be reduced by any chance? Looking for Barista pro!

Don't forget the $16 million. Take you business elsewhere

    • Agree 100%
I'd rather pay more elsewhere, than support HN.
Many small family businesses have had to shutdown because they didn't get government support.
      HN, you should be ashamed

If you go with this machine and your also feeling kinda fancy:
Bottomless portafilters are back in stock at Breville.

They seem to sell out regularly.

If you dont know why you would want one then its probably not for you.

    • Thanks for the heads up; already sold out though. So quick!

  • I couldnt decide between this and the Oracle. I went with the Oracle because there is more chance of my wife learning to use that machine. Hope I went with the right choice. Havent had a chance to set it up yet, will probably sort it out on the weekend. Just grabbed some Aldi dark roast to start off with, until i can find a decent supply of fresh roasted beans around here. they were roasted a month ago, so perhaps not the freshest…But surely better than Woolies/Coles. Also our water is crap here, I bought 10L of spring water also from Aldi. Hopefully that will be better for the machine than our tap water here. Anyone know of a good website to read to learn the basics for setting up this machine (eg dialing in the grind on the oracle)?

Oracle is a lot easy to dial/use. It auto grind and tamp so only variable for you is to get the right grind size (fine/coarse), so just try out / brew till you get 40/45ml out in the 30sec time for double shot using the double basket.

      • thanks mate. Yeh less variables is why i went with it. My wife lost all interest when i showed her youtube vids of ppl weighing out their beans/grinds and the shot itself. She just wants to push a button and get a passable coffee out of it :)

Just wondering how many spoons and tins of International Roast, Blend 43 or Moccona I can buy for this price….

….waiting for the negs and wrath of the coffee fanatic weirdos….

    • +1

Well I couldn't have cared about your first comment but the second is just a stupid addition, it's like you are asking for trouble. A bit ridiculous honestly

    • +1

      Done.

I use a more manual machine - but the BES920 is such an easy way to make good coffee.

If you think that International Roast is comparable, your taste are probably still COVID-19 affected. Get a life.

LOL. Well that didn't take long :D

I was waiting for you. Very quietly…

The only problem with the black model is that is easily scratches. The paint is very thin, thus catching the portafilter on the edge of the drip tray can expose the stainless steal underneath.

    • +2

Thank you for this insight, I’ve wanted the black version but pulled the trigger on the stainless steel a couple days ago. After seeing this deal I was disappointed but am now happy with my decision - plenty of accidental scratches would drive me crazy

      • I agree, the black looks amazing in the showroom when brand new, zero finger prints and not a single scuff mark. However, after 6 months of use its a very different story!

      • Crap… my Oracle is black. Only got it cuz the stainless was $900 more

        • Do you want to pay $900 extra?

          • @huntabargain: lol no, I wanted stainless but refused to pay the extra so gladly settled for black sesame
the "Crap" was in reference to the black finish not holding up to general use.

    • We have had a black model for 5 years and gets used every day and we definitely aren't careful and not one scratch on the machine?

  • Yeah it’s a more piano black compared to the matte black of the bambino plus. This will attract fingerprints very quickly I think.

  • I remember a previous sale for this machine for under 700 though not black. Also at Harvey Normans. Still going strong but the price for this machine jumps all over the place.

Still $1249 on HN website and I called my local HN and they don't have it for $995. Has anyone manage to get this price at their local HN?

    • I noticed the same. No apparent change at HN You may be interested that David Jones has the Dual Boiler in stainless steel for $979.

      • David Jones price went up to $1999, JB HiFi is $1049, Bing Lee Ebay reduced from $1099 to $999 with discount code.

        • +1

          DJs back down to 979.

        • +1

I was physically in a David Jones store today, in front of the machine with a $979 price tag on it (but I'm shopping for a different machine).

  • Does not appear to be available for 995.

  • As the deal didn't go live today, it has been been marked as unobtainable and moved to forums
