              • @gotyourback: “there will be a banner that leads to the correct page” Will the banner be at the top of the GiftCard page or somewhere else ? Using the mobile app so the view is limited…. 😬

                • @wondering: It will be at the top of the Gift Card page.
It's scheduled to go live at midnight but sometimes Apps/Websites take a few minutes to cache.
So I would suggest everyone be ready to refresh the page/relaunch the app to get it.

+1 Keeping good work OP, putting Cashrewards in shame

  • Nice. 100th vote👍

  • +3

It was hard enough to get one of the 2000 nightly McCain Pub Style chips. This is going to be tough!

    • They should have split them up chip-by-chip. You would have probably had 100,000 to share around then.

  • +2

Will be harder to get than a ps5

  • Dang, don't knock off work til 9:15 WST, so will miss it for sure

    Great offer though

    • +3

      'urgent' toilet trip at 8.58!

I think all shopback posts should have a flag for newbies that shopback had a massive data breach, notified users late one Friday night and responded poorly to users, users could not delete account details etc. Users should be advised to check the forums for details. It’s handling of personal information was poor.

      • +19

If you want to red list every company that has a breach, then you might end up becoming one of the Armish.

Hold on there, buddy. They do have a valid point. Agreed, data breaches and ransomeware attacks are rampant these days. It is how the company deals with the incident reflects a lot about their customer focus and integrity.

ShopBack has been absolutely terrible in how they managed the fall out. Their lack of transparency and delayed communication certainly does not help their reputation within the affiliate marketing industry.

        • -8

I'm not disagreeing with how badly they screwed up - I put them in the same basket as GoDaddy. My point is that red listing companies due to 1 breach (badly handled) will result in most of the internet being a no go zone. Unfortunately, this is the norm from companies. Troy Hunt (https://haveibeenpwned.com) has spoken about this before, and for a company that he's a mouthpiece for - Ubiquiti (UniFi). Basically, the company wants to do the good thing, but then legal gets involved and nothing gets said.

          • -2

@Chuppa: mate- this post isn't about GoDaddy. It's about ShopBack. Go talk about GoDaddy in a post that is about GoDaddy.

    • +2

Also a warming about the fake astroturfed reviews

      • smacks your sisters veins

    • While not denying the massive data breach, responding poorly to users is not necessarily one of them. As the header said, "Have a question/issue? Send an email to [email protected] or DM me (GYB) directly and we'll help sort it out." There is an avenue for you to contact.

In my experience, at the very least, GYB does respond very quickly. That should worth a mention.

I won't deny their call centre experience is a different story. They tend to read from the script parrot-fashion and mostly unable to see the bigger picture (eg: My McAfee experience where all steps have been followed but cashback denied nevertheless and their answer was "too bad, so sad"-esque. Anyway, that issue is resolved with GYB's help).

However, they are improving and I think this should be at least, be acknowledged.

      • +1 same experience here. GYB had been very responsive and helping out all cash back enquiries and problems for me.

      • +1

To clarify, the responding comment related to responding to the data breach.

        • Same here on data breach.

Plus, my $30 for BWS promotion mysteriously disappeared from the account without a trace. I prefer to stick with Cashrewards from now on.

          • +2

@AFOS: Have you attempted to contact ShopBack to report this?

  • Ah shit. Here we go again. I think I got my sister hooked on ShopBack now.

  • OP, do we need to opt into the challange prior to the purchase?

    • +1

      No Opt-In required.
This won't be a challenge, rather it'll be a banner that leads to the promo page.
We'll only have 2,000 eBay Gift Cards available for purchase.
So once they're gone, its done :)

      • So once they're gone, its done :)

Once they are all gone, the banner will just disappear or not be tapable anymore, I guess.

        • +1

We will turn off the banner so it's no longer visible.
This might take a few minutes for the App to refresh.

  • +3

Does this mean that we could potentially wind up buying an eBay gift card and not receive the cashback? Or will it be an 'out of stock' type thing once 2000 offers are used up?

    • +3

No from past experience you wont be able to buy after the 2000 customer limit is reached

    • +3

It will be OOS once the 2,000 Gift Cards are sold out.

  • +30

This is more of a competition, not a bargain. 2000 is nothing on OZb unless you have 20,000. And staying up till 12am for this is just terrible.

    • Would be easy cashback for GYB though, he's always up around midnight

    • +2

11 here in qld, lol. but i will stay awake anyway, it's black FRIDAY, i would not want to miss any party here. Not for this only, sure there will be more deals.

    • +1

Sure the Rep may be a self proclaimed night owl, but for many this is a most inconvenient time. Sure there will be people who stay up for this, but many will also miss out without knowing these can be unobtainable even when payment details set, and refreshed on the second the deal goes live.

      • +2

I'm always up at midnight anyway, but maybe splitting the limit across eg. 12am and 8am for both the night owls and early birds could work? With a limit of one per person? But I suppose 1000 would disappear even faster

    • +9

      @Ryxxi I'm sorry but I disagree.
This isn't a competition, we have 2,000 stock on hand and it's first come first serve.
It would be like saying any OzB post that went OOS was a competition because it sold out before you had the chance to buy it?

As for staying up until midnight, I understand it might be an inconvenience for some who wake early.
But it is Black Friday and only happens once a year, surely it's understandable.

      • +2

It is not! How inconceivable you are limiting yourself to once a year for such a promotion. Please give us more cashback promos.👀

        • +1

hahaha! I'll relay this to the big boss 😂

  • Has it started yet? Feel like having supper staying up this late for this deal

    • +2

      22.5 hours later

      • +1

Yea just noticed… He said "tonight"

    • Have you ever bought a gift card through shopback?

Whether or not your other purchases track (FWIW I've never had any huge issue with CR or SB), gift cards are all processed directly with Shopback so no issues.

    • Why aren't these scammers from Shopback, still allowed on the site ?

But they ARE still allowed on the site. ;-p

    • +1

Hey @curious101, I've just checked and cannot see any conversation history between us?
If you'd like some help, feel free to send me a DM.

      Cheers.

  • +2

Rep, can you do Amazon 12%?

    • Probably on friday

    • +3

I just asked my colleague that negotiates rates with Amazon and he said:

"Very unlikely. There's about a 2% chance it will happen again, maybe 3%"

So it's improbable, but not impossible.

  • Starting to think I should find out what shop back is.

    • -1

      think twice

    • Unicorn startup from Singapore.

    • If you have any questions, feel free to DM me :)

  • Will probably be gone in seconds

    • Agree. Get it in the 1st second.

      • Too late I have them in .0001 sec :)
Anyway nice of SB to deprive people of sleep for many to miss out on this baby lol :)

    • 2713 clicks on the page now, i don't think so. Probally ten min.

  • +1

This is like when 15000 people turn up to a night club when only 1500 are invited. Probably have more chances of winning lotto than getting this!

  • +3

Can you take the link down after 2,000 have bought ?
Or can we back out if we don't make it into 2,000 ?

    • +1

      Sorry I missed this earlier.
We will be online updating it live as the promo sells out.
With App caching, it might have a slight delay but we'll be as quick as possible.
