If I bought this

and took out the GPU and replaced it with my 1060 3gb, what could I sell the system for?
$1200?

Just one of problems there.
* Since you're not the retailer you are now selling a used system, so value probably drops more than it's worth.
So you can place a value on the whole system judging on the price of the parts (or the substitution you just made) but ask youself, would you pay that for a 6/12 month old Computer.
I'd guess $800-$900
I agree, and it wouldn't be a quick sale either.
Buy PC, swap GPU, then resell?

This is perfectly ethical to me
How's it unethical?
dascam mistakenly reads it as swapping out and not disclosing to purchaser.
Did I really need to add /s ?
As long as it's not being sold as "new", or lies about the part, there's nothign wrong with it. I think expectations are a littel high though.
Of course I would advertise it for exactly what it is.
Just wondering if doing this might get me a GPU upgrade for less than a straight buy.
As mentioned before. You'll probably lose money as you're now selling a used system. So even the rest of the parts are no longer worth the money you paid and they are buying something without warranty.
It also depends on how quickly you want the sale. The quicker you want your money back the cheaper you have to sell it. Wait too long and it won't be worth the money.
Check ebay listings of successful sales of 1060 gpus sold in the last month.
Look at pcpartpicker, add all the parts you would get in that system to the listing, change it to australia.
Minus 20% from this price, then add the 1060 gpu price and that is your answer.
