Samsung is the safer option but personally preference really. The JBL has much stronger bass and the detachable rear speakers is great convenience
The Samsung is only about $50 more than this if you have access to Good Guys Commercial….I'd take that
own this JBL, I chose it because Sonos Arc and Samsung 950A both costed quite a bit more while I was looking. Sounds wise the JBL is not bad, however you cannot control the dialogue level. The bass is huge, I'm only on 3/5 for movies, anything more it gets overwhelming. From memory it's 12" instead of 10" for most other variants.
A little cracking sound sometimes when sound input changes (e.g. scrolling through Netflix movies). Also every now and then (~1 in 5 times) when tv is on, it detects and turn itself on as well but somehow has no sound, I had to unplug power cable and turn back on to make it function like it should. Last nitpick is when you turn the tv off, sometimes the soundbar turns itself on not long after and doesn't charge the rear speakers that are plugged in. I don't know how long until it goes into power saving. Unplugging HDMI helped preventing this problem but inconvenient to say the least. I have a Sony smart tv for reference.
I'd check you have the latest firmware installed. I've not experienced any of those issues, but I'm connected to a Samsung TV via ARC and that may make a difference.
The bass level is insane, true theatre experience for action movies.We had a 11kg slice of petrified tree trunk sitting on top of the sub and it got vibrated off onto the floor during a Marvel movie. It was sitting on a non slip mat as well. Powerful.
Love the detachable wireless surrounds. Makes for neat and easy installation. Our ceiling is a little too high to really get the full Atmos effect but when everything falls into place it is very good.
I agree about the lack of control over dialogue in settings, probably my only major gripe.
This model will be EOL soon or is already. JB was getting rid of its stock last year and stated that - dont take my word for it though.
