Thanks mate. This is a great shampoo regardless of dandruff. And this is a great price.

    got it. Thanks OP.

  • PSA: you may actually have Seborrheic dermatitis, and require a shampoo with ketoconazole.

    • what shampoo has that?

Sebizole and Nizoral. They’re available off the shelf at chemist warehouse. Super effective.

Since watching this youtube vid I haven't used shampoo. Albeit, I was looking for evidence to not buy shampoo.

I've used shampoo once in the last ten years (when I got used engine oil all over me). Other than that it's just been washing with water every day and bicarb once a week or so. It's the only way I managed to get rid of my decades old dandruff problem and my hair and scalp (according to my hairdresser wife) is in great condition.

  • Both this and the regular T/Gel (the one that's brown, or should I say amber) claim to have a "pleasant fragrance", but only this one actually does

    • The "Therapeutic" version (brown) contains coal tar, which is another ingredient to treat dandruff and deals with the symptoms of itching a little better. Coal tar also helps promote skin shedding. There are a few other differences but that's the main one.

Also, coal tar smells god awful. I hate working with it and it stains (it's a biproduct from making coal gas) everything. The above product smells less plastic like than head and shoulders, and smells nothing like the therapeutic version.

How much of the shampoo do you use? I don't notice the smell after lathering and washing it off, and then I use conditioner.

        • I don't use the "Therapeutic" version. I use the version listed above (T/Gel Daily Control 2-in-1 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo). I only use a 5-10 cent sized blob and wash out. I've never used the "Therapeutic" version, but from working with coal tar in patient preps, it doesn't smell great.

@Froot Loops: Ok - yeah it's very mild for a coal tar solution. There are other tar shampoos that smell terrible (irwin? brand from memory) but this one is fine imo.

@bargainshooter: 2.0% from memory. We compound at around 5.0% Coal Tar Sol (from memory) and it's hard to try to even mask the smell. I should really know more about the commercial products on the market. I'd say almost all pharmacist (young ones anyways), tend to be great with a certain brands range and just go for that each time we are asking. The older pharmacists tend to have been practice when a lot of this stuff came onto the market.

  • FYI, even cheaper now. $2.69 one off and $2.49 with SS
