Found via previous bargain, although $1 more this time

Use one of these with my Raspberry Pi and have thankfully had no issues with it. Was looking to buy another to go with a Christmas gift.

Don't forget to add your $10 off (if you can…?)

  • good enough for dashcam?

The 'similar card' are the updated 2021 Variant of the same microSD card.

    • Thanks for that! Was wondering what the difference was.

The new variant does have a V10 rating but, which the old at least doesn't have the label for.

    • $17.08 for similar card (Newer 2021 Version) at Amazon

Also 512gb for $99 seems like a good price for 2021 Version

How does it compare to the sandisk one? Sandisk seems faster?

Hold your horses. The Sandisk Ultra has the slowest write speed in the business, 10-20mbs. This makes it basically useless for anything involving regular writing (Think cameras and video recording)

The Samsung EVO Plus has a 90mbs write speed, which makes it a very decent card overall.

The Sandisk ultra might have 120mbs read speed compared to the 100mbs read speed of the EVO Plus, but that is a meaningless difference for most people, especially compared to the horrible write speed of the Ultra.

Sandisk's decent write speed cards are the ones with the "Extreme" branding

      • Interestingly, I had taken the SanDisk's "transfer speed" as write speed, but after reading your comment did some further reading and can't see where SanDisk has specifically stated a "write speed" anywhere.

Looks like the SanDisk would be the winner on speed based on supposed speeds.

Samsung EVO Plus 64GB SanDisk Ultra 64GB
      Read 100 120
      Write 90 ?

Looking at the labelling however, they are very similar. The SanDisk card is certified for Application Class but, which could be advantageous.

Samsung EVO Plus 64GB SanDisk Ultra 64GB Description
      Speed Class 10 10 Class # = # MBps
Bus Interface I I Physical bus connections
      UHS Speed Class UHS 1 UHS 1 UHS # = #0 MBps
      Video Class V## = ## MBps
      Application Class A1 A# = #0 MBps1

Some (seemingly) good guides on SD card labelling:

Edit: removed SanDisk write speed - I had noted this from the specified "transfer speed" of 120 MBps, but can't actually see a specific "write speed" anywhere.

      1. Application class is based around random read/write, not sustained; so the MBps listed is more for reference as that is a sustained speed, not random. See here for more information on Application Class.

      • Yeah, if an SD card doesn't advertise it's write speed, It's always because it's bad.

        • "Transfer speed" is a bit misleading then, isn't it?

      • From memory starting from either 128GB or 256GB > they have different classes and perform far better for the EVO range.
