Before I bought this watch I did a lot of research on which smartwatch to get. Some wear OS watches have features I liked more (like mobvoi with their dual screen for example) but at the time Google had pretty much abandoned wear OS and it was bad in many ways, especially power efficiency.
So then it was between Apple watch, active 2 or galaxy watch 3. I have an Android phone and while I was thinking of setting up my watch with someone else's phone, the limited functionality when paired with an Android made it not worth it (but it is the best smart watch still). The choice between the 2 Samsung watches was mostly price based. The watch3 had the mechanical dial but was significantly more and I don't really care about the look. So I got the active 2.Its a good watch and I used to wear it everyday until I wore it at work and it got smashed against metal and the screen cracked. To repair the screen, it costs nearly as much as a new watch. It still works, I just wear it less often as I'm not sure how waterproof it is now. So I would recommend getting a screen protector asap and if you think it would be in an environment where it could get damaged, I would probably just get a cheap Chinese watch.
Also, the new galaxy watch 4 looks like a really good middle ground between tizen OS and wear OS and I have been considering getting it to replace the active 2, so compare the functionalities and price of that one too.
how's the battery life ?
is this good to pair with iphone ?
Depends how much you use it, what sensors you use and what apps you have (and have running in the background). I have a few apps that are quite battery heavy so I charge mine every second or third day but with a normal set up you could get a week maybe, it's been quite a while since I downloaded these apps so I'm not completely sure.
It pairs with every phone the same but iPhones have the ability to connect to Apple watches properly, which are far better, even if you get an older model (the Apple watch 3 is still a very good watch and around the same price as active 2's rrp).
Did you ever consider a fitbit? I am thinking either the galaxy watch or a fitbit, as Amazon has the sense for 300
Fitbits are mostly Sport related and have less app support, especially with the cheaper variants. The bang for your buck also isn't that good with fit bit, the Fitbits worth getting are the expensive ones so I didn't ever looks at them too much.
@AlmightyBeing: Not sure if the latest Fitbits are better quality, but all my Fitbits up to and including the last Charge 3 had some hardware issue or the other - they just weren't well-made. The app is great though, for fitness / sleep tracking.
I just couldnt' hack the dodgy hardware any more, and switched to a proper smartwatch. Haven't looked back at all.
@andresampras: What did you end up buying?
@TeamSAXON: I use an iPhone so I bought an Apple watch. Not perfect but works well for me.
Was interested in this also and keen to know also from other's who have this watch.
amazon user reviews … seems bad
Wonder if they rose Gold dial wears off quicker than others.
Ordered one. Thanks op.
Anyone have experience with this watch? Been wanting to get a smartwatch for a while
