Any idea whether Apple takes part into black friday usually? Partner wants new phone. Wondering if we buy tmr or wait next week

    • No idea, I'm still not sure if I want to buy it or if I should wait.

    • +5

It’ll likely just be a bonus Apple Store gift card but only on older models, e.g. last year it was $70 for non-current gen iPhones

      • If the iPhone 11 would be one of those with a gift card I would go for it!

      • She wants the 12 so any discount would be welcome. There are no current offers with gift card to stack, right?

        • +3

Was on SE/XR/11 last year so would wager it'd be the SE/11/12 they're selling this year. Ideal if you could stack with discounted giftcards, none currently on sale but could check classifieds here as well

  • Maybe wait, deals will come next Friday. I need a new one. Will be a big upgrade from an IPhone 7.

My iPhone 7 is barely hanging on, cracked it a few weeks ago and can't take calls now without headphones, I damaged the earpiece.

      • Jeez, that’s not good. Mine is working alright. Maybe I better wait. Over time they all become cheaper. I would be happy with a refurbished iPhone X or 11 anyway. Good luck, I think it might be a good idea to wait for Friday, but you’re bit in a pickle if you don’t have a spare phone…

Yeah, Im not so keen to spend so much on a new phone.
I like the size of the mini as I think phone sizes are getting ridiculous lately.

          • @Brannolte: Couldn’t agree more.
My iPhone 11 Pro is large, refuse to get anything larger

          • @Brannolte: get the iphone se the latest updates. i would buy it for basic needs but anything extensive may need something a bit more powerful

@RQNinja: Please don't by the SE, as somene who's used one the 12mini is vastly better. Honestly iPhone 12 or 13 would be very future proofed and a good option. SE battery is abysmal, 12 mini is better from my experience

              • @Mttogo96: Can wholeheartedly agree. Had the same experience with both phones. Love my mini

I upgraded from iphone7 to iphone13 mini in Oct.
If you like me, prefer the size of the iphone7, believe me, you will love 13 mini.

The only thing bothering me is no Touch ID. I have to take my mask off to unlock it cuz I don't have the Apple watch.

If it is not an issue for you. Then IMO, iPhone 13 mini is perfect.

(I also noticed that the power button is bigger, compared to the iphone7. I guess that design is ready for the Touch ID, which is currently used on iPad air 4)

      • Okay cool, I think I’m going to get the 13 mini over the 12 due to battery. I do prefer Touch ID but in QLD we don’t need to wear masks now.

  • Is the 13 mini worth the extra $250?

    • Bit better battery, smaller notch and different camera lens location.
I don't think its work $250 but not on sale there is only a $130 difference.

i heard much better battery life ? not just bit

        • +1

Only a bit on the mini's, gets exponentially better the larger you go, ie 12 vs 13 is much better, 12pro max vs 13 pro max bigger step again

    • +3

I had a 12 mini for a while and the battery is merely ok.

If I was after a small iPhone again, I’d be spending the extra for the improved battery life on the 13 mini (in addition to the other improvements).

      • How long did the 12 mini last you?

        • +1

Varied of course, but I was frequently short towards the end of the day so top ups were mandatory. I’m a pretty heavy user though with a lot of screen on time.

MagSafe charger stand on my desk definitely helped, but days out of the office definitely took their toll.

          • @Mitch889: Okay cool, I mostly work at a desk and am trying to use my phone less anyway.
I’ve been finding myself using it too much lately and don’t like the dependency feeling it is creating.

    • +1

The battery in the 12mini would not get me through the day, the camera also was lacking, but that was coming from an XS (at the time). I have heard they fixed the battery life in the 13 mini, so I would be tempted, but wouldn't recommend the 12 mini except if it is only lite use

    • +2

      $948 is better than $1,079

      • +6

It’s still a pretty decent phone for most people, likely to get 4-5 years of 0-day software updates

  • +3

Got mine from Telstra Day @764 AUD Delivered.

    • same specs?

      • 128GB version.

      • Yep same storage size. The 64 GB was selling for 50 dollar less during Telstra Day promo.

  • Hmm reckon they’ll have any 13 pro deals?

    • Too early for a recently released phone/ short supply. Maybe perhaps by January (and if the stock supply normalized) usually you will see some deals on the 13.

  • Same price for TGG…. I need a 12 Mini 128GB too.

I am waiting tomorrow evening for JB-HiFi to see if they lower the price more…

    • Does it start 7pm Sydney time?
