I think the OpenMove for $100 are the real deal here: https://www.aftershokz.com.au/Shop/p_15708/AFTERSHOKZ_OPENMO…
Same drivers / sound quality as the Aeropex, just not as durable (still well made) and shorter battery (still 6 hours).
I don’t think that can be used for swimming
for swimming you need https://www.aftershokz.com.au/Shop/p_13035/AFTERSHOKZ_XTRAIN…
not bluetooth do not have this one :)Neither can the Aeropex.
Couldn't find it mentioned on the Australian site, but the US site specifically calls out swimming:
IP67 Waterproof (Not for swimming)
as I own most of them :)
The Aeropex as the best sounding and most comfortable. Although only one I had problems with drivers rattling.. Replaced next day postage.. Cannot complain at all.
Air and Openmove be sim in sound although for me my 2 Air's more comfortable to the openmove.
I use the openmove for work. one air backup if out of battery and 2nd air for a TV
then have bluez2 and titatium both with bands broken now as spares. What are your thoughts on the Aeropex vs the Aeropex Mini?
On the official webpage, it states:
13% lighter than AFTERSHOKZ AIR
Is the Air just another name for the Trekz?
then have bluez2 and titatium
These must be really old models as they are nowhere to be found on the website.
Aeropex vs the Aeropex Mini?
The Aeropex Mini is literally an Aeropex with a smaller band for people with smaller heads. That's it.
If your head is small enough the normal Aeropex will be a bit weird hanging so far behind your head, and because the band that goes behind your head is metal, and thus nor adjustable nor stretchy, they (presumably) decided to make a version with a smaller band.
I accidentally purchased the mini version and they are not really wearable for a male adult. Females with small heads and kids may find them useful.
Still searching fir a bone conduction headset.
Not sure if chasing a pipe dream but hoping for one that has a decent sound quality.Looked this one up so thought I’d share the review st the same time.

Not trying to be sarcastic, but you mean like this?

Do wonder if the microphone hanging off changes the way it sits on your head…A friend at work has one of these, seems to like it.
Personally I've had almost no issues with the mic on my Aeropex.
Oh ok. All good
Those with eBay Plus can get it for $189 on the Pushys Ebay Store using code PLBFSS
Thanks, mate.
I was about to pull the trigger then I noticed that the historically cheapest price for this model is $169.32 - from Pushys directly during last year's Black Friday sale.
It was a good idea to wait, DoctorCalculon! The deal is back but now with code BLACK15. I just created a new deal for Pushys' Black Friday Sale.
Nice, bud. History repeats itself in a good way. :)
100% can vouch for the Aeropex. I accidentally put mine through the washing machine and they are still working like brand new a year later.

Did it go through a full clean and rinse cycle?
OMG! That is amazing if it still works after that. Seriously, well built. I can't think of many electronic devices that would outlast such torture.Yep, a full hour and a half cycle. I use them every second day and they are flawless. Would highly recommend.
Thanks for the feedback, mate. Appreciate it.
Trying to decide whether to buy the Aeropex mini or the standard Aeropex. Which model did you buy, and any issues with fitment?@DoctorCalculon: I have the standard which fits me perfectly. On my wife, it's quite loose around the back but secure around the ears.
Here's a handy fitment guide from Aftershokz: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0857/5574/files/Let_s_find…
Long shot, but anyone experienced using bone conduction headphones with otoschlerosis? In my head as it bypasses the stapes it should be significantly better than any standard headphones…but at this price point couldn't justify getting a set just to find out.
Some bike shops had an Aftershokz demo setup where you can test a pair on the shop counter, if in Melbourne 99 Bikes in South Melbourne or My Ride in Wellington St Collingwood had them - haven’t been instore at either for a while tho’.
Could maybe contact their Au distributor to find such a shop near you to try a pair.
got a tonne of amazon gift cards hoping to use. their official store on amazon prices are still full price =/ https://www.amazon.com.au/AfterShokz-Open-Ear-Waterproof-Con…
Try now. Down to $186
ffs. just bought it this arvo argh for $183 after all the discounted ebay gift cards and $10 off. thanks anyway
I have these but no longer use them. Wind noise on a road bike at 30 plus km makes them useless. Turn them up and vibration is horrid. Bike helmet straps don’t help the situation either.
It might be the large size just isn’t large enough for me and thus this tech is not functioning properly. Also don’t bother with the supplied ear buds, they ruin any sound quality, similar to putting a bucket on your head.
Changing the eq to the alternative setting (holding vol + and - at same time for a few seconds whilst something is playing, from memory) does help if wearing earplugs, I use this when mowing the lawn but wouldn’t recommend when riding.
You can buy or make “windstoppers” that fit over the helmet straps in front of your ears that can help with wind turbulence when riding, might help. No help at higher speed on a road bike tho’ I’d have thought,
Have had Aeropex for nearly 2 years now, but on my third pair - both previous pairs replaced under warranty due to developing driver rattles (both pairs) and left side driver distortion (one pair). Came with 2 year warranty, and to their credit warranty replacement was pretty quick and pain free.
Given I’m coming to the end of the (2 year) warranty period I’m being pretty careful with this latest pair, but was never rough with them anyway, the build overall is quite well made and durable but the encapsulated drivers seem to be the vulnerable bit which is a shame.
Sound quality is not on par with earbuds if you really focus on this, but is perfectly acceptable given the other benefits of them. My main use is listening to podcasts, but do listen to music sometimes - I’m fussy with SQ with most things but am prepared to compromise for their benefits.
I use for podcasts anywhere anytime (in shower every day, brushing teeth, mowing lawn, around the house, when out shopping, bike riding, whatever) and they are super convenient for this (often stop start listening).
Benefits - plenty waterproof enough for my usage, cord free obviously, long battery life and easily charged anyway using either of the 2 magnetic connector cables supplied, perfectly acceptable sound quality unless you are pretty picky and listening in a v quiet environment, very easy on and off, comfortable fit, light weight.
Unless I find something else that is as easy to live with as these I’ll likely buy again if/when I have to.
I use for podcasts anywhere anytime (in shower every day
So, you actually use them whilst showering?
Yes, I know they are waterproof, but soap and hot water will eventually degrade such attribute.
This is why Apple also recommends that you do not shower with your Apple Watch on you.Not OP - but I shower in them all the time. It is not like I soap up a good lather in my hair and rinse it out around them - I run a #1 haircut so not a lot of attention required - but all the same plenty of splash, no issue after about 8 months of that treatment.
Yep, shower with them all the time. Haven't seen any degradation to the exterior over a long period. Heavy sweating when working or exercising would be harder on them I'd reckon but doesn't seem to faze them.
I use for podcasts anywhere anytime (in shower every day, brushing teeth, mowing lawn,
I love mine - but lawnmowing/line trimming are the only things I will reach for my airpods for. I find the aeropex aren't loud enough for podcasts over that noise.
If I put ear plugs in they would be fine, but at that point why not throw in some airpods…
NEWS FLASH!
The Aeropex has just dropped to $186 on Amazon.
Early Black Friday deal.
Ends in 7 days, though some colours sold out last year.
I Got the cheaper trekz air and they are a game changer for running or casual riding. Can here the world around you and pretty good sound quality for your music at same time. Bass is low but not a big deal.
