  • Anyone who's actually used these -any good? We've been using an old school standard Oricom model for a long time, it's battery is stuffed but it's otherwise still going fine. We tried a Uniden one recently that was on here on a deal and it was terrible, the noise/crying detection seemed entirely random and the unit itself was too quiet. Would love to hear thoughts on these cubo ones from current owners

I have been using the Cubo since the birth of our baby (she's 8 months now). and it has been excellent… love how they have notifications and you can give access to any of your family members.. as well as view it on any device that runs android/IOS…

face over alerts are accurate, as well as crying alerts…

Would u prefer to have a dedicated screen? Or you find the phone is more than enough.

      • We have two. Couldn't live without them. The ap is great and saves carrying a useless extra screen around.

Night vision and safety alerts are second to none. Highly recommend.

  • Anyone got good recommendations on no wifi ones with dedicated screens?

    • I have a Nannio comfy. It has been used almost every day/night for about 14 months. Battery feels like it is getting worse (as expected with constant charge/discharge cycles).

Camera is reasonable and can rotate/zoom to get a good view of the little wrigglers. Screen can turn off and trigger on sound, but that feature is useless with whitenoise in the room. The feature that lets you talk to the other side is quiet, but seems to do the trick.

The red glowing LEDs for the IR night vision can be distracting, and the power button glows bright green too. It also defaults to off when it loses power, that can be a bit annoying.

      Hope this helps.

    • Caveat…all baby stuff is very subjective, no right or wrong, just get what suits you.

My 2c though…We chose a non-Wifi baby monitor so we could use devices whilst monitoring, but it also gives you the option to have your device and not being tempted to just permanently watch, if that makes sense. When going to sleep, through stages our first would get quite upset for the first ~20min, so we purposefully left the monitor away from us so we could get on with other stuff and not be tempted to watch, but still keep phone with us…might not make sense but anyway.

Regarding recommendations, when I looked this up for the first time, it was a minefield, but I settled on the Vava. I was very cautious of it as it wasn't a name brand and wasn't sold in stores, but I couldn't be happier after since getting it in May. Again, without comparing it to others, the visuals are amazing (this morning I could read the words in a book our 15mth was "reading" in the cot), the sound is clear (not just baby talk but I can hear my wife perfectly when she talks in the room), the LED indications for noise is handy as we normally have the sound on mute, the camera movement is absolutely fine, the temperature sensor in the room is amazingly handy and seems to be relatively accurate, battery life is no issues for how we use it (charge overnight, off charge through day), the night vision is very clear, the range is great (we have a two story house and it can go from the back of the house top level to the front garden (~30m). The camera has a speaker as well so you can talk to your baby from a distance. We haven't used this yet but it seems to work fine with a bit of a delay.

I am aware Vava has been kicked from Amazon (for dodgy review practices) but without any bias however I could not recommend it any more. I believe they have "unbranded" it however and it has been listed again here and at $144 I genuinely think it is a bargain compared to in store products as I cannot think of anything that this doesn't do. The linked item has exactly the same pictures/specs as the Vava one and has been linked to it being the same on some forums.

We have a second on the way so have just bought another camera which apparently we can view with the same screen and potentially even do split screen which would be amazing…yet to verify this though.

  • Suggested the video backward/ ffw feature like YT that you can tap to control them synchronously.

  • Have had one for over 12 months now. Its a good cam does exactly what it says, just be aware of the premium sub you will end up buying. The crying alerts are 4/10 as in general your going to have bub kinda close even when sleeping. Not at the other end of the house… So we always hear bub crying at the same time I get the notification anyway. Could be different for others shrug. The rollover alert is actually pretty good 6/10 however you will only be using that feature for 3-6 months anyway.

  • I received an email from Cubo AI stating that there'll be a sale on 25th November. Don't know if it is worth waiting for that instead?

  • Do we know if we buy off amazon we get the 1 year free subscription or it's only if we buy straight from their website?

    • On the cubo website it has this note when comparing premium sub and no sub:

All Cubo Ai Plus come with one year of Cubo Ai Care Premium included, which begins when the hardware and software of the product is paired.

I would argue that should mean that wherever you order a cubo ai plus from that it should be included. But yep be nice to have some confirmation as I was about to order one. Have been researching baby monitors for the last couple of weeks.

      • What have you found with all the research so far mate? Hoping to piggyback off some of your hard work :) I’m also looking at the moment and like yourself, leaning towards Cubo. Some of the competitors like Nannit are mostly based out of US and will have to get them shipped from there.

Without spending stupid money the cubo seems a very good option, especially at this price. Otherwise the lollipop is a great option if you’re happy with a few less features and it’s on sale atm too. However I’m a bit cautious with its security after reading some comments. The cubo seems to have as bout a good security as you can find. Otherwise the next best thing is likely the uniden from baby bunting with a few less features but a more appealing price https://www.babybunting.com.au/uniden-video-baby-monitor-wit…

  • Was hoping for $263 again but this is good too.

    • The version that was $263 last time (wall mount unit), is $246 as part of this sale. Here

  • +2

If you go direct to the Cubo website it is currently on black friday sale - the 3-stand set is $359 and the wall mount is $249.
However, there is an old discount promo code there which can be applied "CUBOFAM", which gives an additional $20 off.
This brings the cost down to $339 for the 3-stand setup and $229 for the wall mount setup.
