    Not bad but getting old

  • Still no new Android version update sucks Telstra

    • 12 is in beta in India and Indonesia. Not available here yet

    • I'd rather wait a bit longer. Bought this phone in July and after the major update (from ColorOS 10 to 11 if I remember it correctly), it broke the Android Auto, which is a pain for me…

Finally they released an update in October which got the Android Auto work again.

    This phone is great 🤠

  • Probably lacking feature would be the wireless charging.

    • +7

Trust me, with the 65w charging, wireless won't be missed.

      • True half an hour and full battery who wants 15w wireless charging

  • Great camera and charging speed is unbeatable

  • Sweet phone, but suffers PWM flicker (at 99% brightness and below) as with most OLED displays.

    • +1

This phone should have the DC Dimming mode.

  • Sorry it it's a silly question, but does anyone know if this would this work on an Optus mobile plan?

    Thanks

    • Yes it would

    • Ye it works I was on optus before Telstra is delaying update on this for nothing else which is lit hassle some time

    • It does, but if someone rings you, they don't hear a ring tone. They only get silence until you answer. You hear the ring.

I tried the Optus sim in another phone which works fine. Then tried a Telstra sim in this phone. That works. It's just the combo of this phone and an Optus sim that does it. Optus have tried to fix it, but it doesn't stay fixed.

  • A lot more love for the same deal back in July -

Just buy and update to unlocked region, no need to worry about Telstra

    • how can i do this please/ from a noob's perspective i haven't updated at all and would love to get out of telstra interface

      • There is no Telstra interface/logo/welcome, just a couple Telstra apps which you can delete. After that you won't know it has any Telstra bits in it.

The only drawback is updates has to be approved by Telstra so it is always slow. But I really can't tell any difference to day to day use with or without the updates.

Has instructions, may seem confusing but it's actually not bad.

        • Do I need to wipe my phone or simply connect phone via USB, download the software and follow instructions? Hopefully that simple ?

  • Awesome phone. Especially love the turbo speed charging.

    • +1

Yes, something like 15-20 mins every 1.5 days to charge from 20-80% (apparently gives longer battery life).

If you value Android auto, do not buy this phone!

    • +1

      It works fine.

      • My apologies…it looks as though the update has finally been released (a month ago) to Telstra variants. Too late for those that used it for 6 months without it…

  • Does it support dual sim?

    • +1

Not with the Telstra version I believe.

    • +1

If you change to the Singapore firmware it will support dual sim. It's really easy to change regions on this phone.
You will have to grab yourself a dual sim tray though, you can get them on aliexpress for a few dollars.

      • Thanks. Do you have the link for the steps to install Singapore version firmware and change the regions please.

        • Refer to my comment above, on some FB page

          • @OZTechGuy: Thanks for that. Does dual sim work on Australian_EX retail version or does singapore region should be selected?

            • +1

@snid: I believe only Singapore, AU model and software designed for single sim

  • It's orange colour vegan leather version is selling for $799 by wireless1

  • This is $50 cheaper with ebay code - PLBFSS. Comes to $649.

  • Got one for the wife from JB a few months back, and picked up the optus model from wireless1's last week for $635 with an ebay plus code. I'm very impressed with this phone, good performance, amazing screen, great camera and heaps of storage.

Coming from a long run with samsung, I'll miss the S pen when I have to sign something and the samsung gaming app's ability to mute games without muting other media at the same time, but both are nitpicks.

At this price I don't think anything comes close locally, as it's functionally an S20 Ultra minus the samsung branding.

  • Been doing some reading today and think i'll buy one of these phones to replace my aging pixel 2 XL when I can get it for around the $600 mark with ebay code etc. I'm going to miss my rear fingerprint scanner but other than that it ticks all my boxes.

  • Link died are they oos

  • Does anyone know if you need to buy the telstra variant for it to work with WiFi calling (VoWiFi) on telstra? Or will any Oppo X2 Pro work?
