Kids want an action camera for Christmas..
I have no idea about them but wish to spend around $200 so that rules out the latest GoPros.
I saw a new GoPro Hero 2018 for $200.. it is still worth getting at that price or should I get something else?
It also needs to be waterproof which I believe most action cams are?

You should be able to find a top of the line GoPro model or at least a decent one used on Gumtree or FB Marketplace for a good price. Look at some reviews of the GoPro models you find.
As it's a present, I'd want to buy new.
I did look at some there and they are asking crazy high prices.. you may as well get the latest one for similar price.

try the ebay actioncam clone type cameras with waterproof body etc usually about 30, I have one 4k pics 1080 recording got a lot of attachments with mine have more than one kid buy two, there are many diff types at higher prices with better features but these are a guide
