I have been with Celsius for 3 years and Nexo for 1 year. I had no issues and put my trust in both. Always good to spread the risk between multiple CeFi providers and not go all in on one.

I earn 6.2% on my first BTC using Celsius and excess BTC after the first on Nexo earning 5%

Between these two I like Celsius the most, weekly pay outs earned in BTC rewards. However Nexo pays out daily, but their interest rate is slightly lower and the top 5% requires a one month lockup. You can also choose not to do a lockup and it will be 4%. It is exciting to receive free BTC daily.

Celsius also has unlimited free withdrawals. So whenever I have more than 1 BTC I transfer the excess for free to Nexo.

Anything after 1 BTC on Celsius earns 3.52% (first BTC still earns 6.2%).

There is another one Hodlnaut that earns 7.5%, however they are very new and they have not built trust or a history. I would consider them somewhat risky. They also do not do free withdrawals.

    Good luck

    • +2

Just be cautious with Celsius as they have the highest risk premium among CeFi’s with Nexus Mutual and Celsius also lost their insurer because of over-doing their rehypothecation.

    • What about BlockFi?

      • +1

I am 100% in on BTC so I have not compared the rates against other cryptocurrency.

I didn't consider BlockFi because they have a lower % APY (4.50%) compared to Celsius and Nexo, and they have a maximum limit of 0.1 BTC earning the 4.5% APY reward.

The below spreadsheet will help you decide on the different CeFi providers and their current APY percentages and is updated every 15 minutes. Credit to Redditor who keeps it updated.

    • Also been using Celsius from when CEL was $1. It was better before Binance staking days, now the returns aren’t as good

    • Yeah I love Celsius, took a while to understand it but now I convert all my coins into CEL so I get 25% more yield.

I like Nexo too but can't buy any coins and would like to purchase Nexo tokens but it is too expensive to buy or receive from other exchanges.

I hodl my BTC in FTX (formerly Blockfolio) as I get 8% yield and free deposits/withdrawals.

      • Just had a look, the 8% yield on BTC through FTX is for the first $10K and rest reverts to 5%. Is that correct?

With regard to CEL vs Nexo, I agree Nexo was too many steps so I never bothered, however it has greatly outperformed CEL. But as I am 100% in BTC I don't want to really buy Alts to increase APY earnt on BTC by only a small amount.

    when does this end?

  • +1

So if we used the last promo https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/647568 can we still use this one again?

    • +3

App doesn't allow you to add codes that had been added before.

    • +2

      Nope, just tried

  • Are these numbers in AUD or USD?

    • +1

      USD

  • -2

lol everything except maybe ADA are just scam coins. USDT is plain scam.

    • +4

BNB is a utility coin as it’s tied to the usage for Binance Exchange. It’s just like CRO for Crypto.com

    • Uh, How is USDT a scam?

      • Ryxxi is probably saying all the past news about Tether how it's only partly insured and they don't actually have the real dollars to backup their actual value

        • wonder if anyone holds Tether long as investment as it's price won't change if you are looking for future profits.

          • @merv198: probably just to earn interest and cash out to fiat but probably better to swap to bitcoin or eth in the long run

      • Best way to send money overseas without the hefty transfer charges. Also a good way to shift money between crypto exchanges without fee.

Edit: In theory… I haven't tried it yet but soon will.

      • It's not, but I'd recommend USDC as a better alternative.

  • +1

Keen to jump in but being a noob I'm not very knowledgeable abt safety putting crypto in Celsius /Nexo. Some compared them to bitconnex? Some friends seem to use them and all g. Thoughts? Thanks.

  • So this means I can use referral link for $50 bonus, then transfer $400 USDC to get another $50 bonus. Total $100 bonus in BTC for transferring $400 USDC.
    Is this correct?
Is it cheap to transfer USDC from Binance to Celsius?

    • No, u'd need to transfer $800 to get both. USDC as other comment, can be done via BlockFi (there's a referral too, haha)

      • Just saw your comment above. So I should sign up referral link and then transfer $400 USDC/USDT to Celsius. Then enter the code for both STABLE10 and STABLE50 in App. Then next I transfer $250 USDC/USDT. This way I should get all the bonus right?

        • +1

Yes, just to add, for the referral, it can be anything worth $400.

        • +1

Note that you'll need to split your $250 into two transactions (i.e. $50 and $200) in the order you entered the code. This is mentioned in the T&C's.

    • Off the top of my head it's about $25USD to transfer USDC, which sucks. So you're better off doing one large transaction that's big enough to hit multiple codes.

  • Anyone having issues with KYC? Mine's just sitting there, re-submitted like 3 times already

    • +1

Yep I did it 3 times as well. Eventually it just switched to say verified after logging in and out a few times.

  • -3

STABLE10: All users, Transfer $50 in USDT or USDC and receive $10 BTC reward. Hold for 30 days.
STABLE50: All users,Transfer $200 in USDT or USDC and receive $50 BTC reward.Hold for 30 days.

if both codes has applied and deposit $200 USDT or USDC… will get both rewards or just 1?

    • +3

      Asked above.

You need to transfer $250 USDT/USDC to get both.

  • Question: Sending BNB, does it support BEP-20? Because reading Reddit saying it does not. Obviously it would not support BEP-2. I don’t want to send my BNB into oblivion.

    • +1

Celsius support BEP-20 (BSC). In fact if u enter the Celsius address in Binance, it'd automatically recognize that as BEP-20, u can't pick BEP-2

  • any idea when the promo codes expire?

    • It says 13 Dec in App

  • For BNB would it cheapest to buy on Binance then transfer straight to Celsius ?

  • so what's the best set of referral codes/existing customer promo codes to use if you're a new user with say 5K USD to buy crypto with and transfer into Celsius?

  • I tried this last time with the USD $200 thing waited a month got nothing… have moved on from Celsius

  • It says you must maintain an account balance equal to or greater than your balance after completing your transfer. Does this mean that if the crypto drops in value over the 30 days you need to keep topping it up so that your balance in USD does not drop below the initial transfer?

Does anyone know that the "supported assets" are for HODL50?

    • Yeah this seems to be the case.. I transferred just over $400 USD of BNB, and within a few days it dipped to ~$395. Now my promo code is still 'pending'. Bloody annoying.

      • +1

Always have more in the bag in case the price takes a dip.

  • -4

LIES.. they don't work if already claimed few months ago

BNB40: All users, Transfer $400 in BNB and receive $40 in BNB. Hold for 30 days.
ADA40: All users, Transfer $400 in Cardano (ADA) and receive $40 in ADA. Hold for 30 days.
ADA500: All users, Transfer $20,000 in Cardano (ADA) and receive $500 in ADA. Hold for 90 days.
STABLE10: All users, Transfer $50 in USDT or USDC and receive $10 BTC reward. Hold for 30 days.
STABLE50: All users,Transfer $200 in USDT or USDC and receive $50 BTC reward.Hold for 30 days.
STABLE600: All users, Transfer $25,000 USDT or USDC and receive $600 BTC reward.Hold for 90 days.

    • +3

Calm down, just added that in the post. I also didn't know btw when I posted, not sure where's the LIES? Did I even say it'd work if u already claimed?
In fact, other users already commented about that but u didn't bother to read mate

      • -1

        not ya mate buddy

        • +2

          Im not your buddy, guy.

      • -2

sorry I poo pooed on ya post

  • -3

Should write can't use for existing users if already claimed in the previous promo

    • Agreed, should be added to avoid confusion.

  • I've just signed up to Celsuis, but the identity verification is taking awhile. Been over an hour thus far. Anyone else having this issue? I've done a heap of these over time and they've generally been instant.

    • have you tried FTX? Pain in the a*s for their verification…

    • I had the same issue so did it on the mobile app and it worked

  • Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm very new to this.
If I want to use ADA40 code for example, what should I do?
Sign up to Celsius, deposit US $400, then purchase $400 worth of ADA?
Or transfer $400 worth of ADA from somewhere else to Celsius?

    • +2

The latter. Get ADA from exchange and transfer it into Celcius.

  • does anyone have a promo code i can use?

    • If by promo code you mean referral code, there are plenty in the referral links tab at the top.

  • I have a Binance account. To maximise these codes -

Open Celsius account - use Referral code

Fiat deposit to Binance - buy $400 worth of BNB
Transfer $400 BNB to Celsius - will this fulfill both referral code and BNB40?

Buy $400 worth of ADA in Binance - transfer to Celsius for code ADA40

Buy $50 worth of USDT in Binance - transfer to Celsius for code STABLE10

Buy $200 worth of USDT in Binance - transfer to Celsius for Code STABLE50

    Is this correct?

    • Following

    • You can stack the Stable codes. Add both codes into your account and make the 1 transfer of $200

      • +2

I think you have to do $250 transfer?

        • The safest way to do is to lock in one at a time from lowest to highest and then transfer over. But you can do both at once if you do the $250. Be mindful of tx or gas fees.

          • @Notoriousbird: gas fees will eat up half of your 50 transfer

            • @May4th: Blockfolio (FTX APP) has no gas fees. Blockfi has one free transfer per month.

If I was testing the waters and wanted to transfer for the first time, I'd do the referral + the $10 + $50 stable. That way I net $100 with only a $650 USD transfer.

        • No. $200 will activate both.

    • I did a bit of digging, this might be the best strategy:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/663766#comment-11351730

  • Just wanted to weigh in here. Been using Celsius app for more than a year and very happy with their interest rates. The promo codes are nice incentives too. With a slogan like 'unbank yourself' well they are indeed at the forefront of this vaguely regulated industry. Of course the legacy systems interested parties are rather unwelcoming for people to take control of their own finances but guess what, it's a changing world. Just my 2 cents

  • +1

how do you bypass the ridiculous gas fees on usdt/usdc on erc-20?

    • How much is the gas fee to transfer $400 usdt/usdc from Binance?

      • min. is 24usd

      • +1

        Use Blockfolio as suggested above.

        • Do you transfer AUD to Blockfolio and buy USDT/USDC there. Then transfer them to Celsius to get bonus. Is that correct to bypass the gas fee?

    • Already mentioned the cheapest way

  • Says "Oops, it looks like something like went wrong" whenever I apply any of the codes. I've never used/claimed before (just signed up for the first time).

    • I had the same problem on my android phone on the Celsius app. I installed the app on my iPad and I was able to successfully add the promo codes.

      • +1

I tried again this morning, no issue this time.

  • I currently have all my crypto stored in various exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase and BTC Market. I know this is not really a secure way of storing crypto, does anyone know if storing this in Celsius would be more risky or is it kind of the same thing? I am just trying to determine if its worth moving everything to Celsius.

    Any potential downside of moving?

    • Same. "Not your keys, not your coins"

In all cases, being looked after by someone else

  • The gas fees for going BTC markets to Celsius was bad when I did it

BTC markets will soon have $250,000 bank guarantee

  • trying to buy BNB worth $400 USD on Biance and its adding 2% (i.e. $8 USD) in fee. Is this standard?

    edit: same with USDT too.

    • +2

Go to pro mode and use the buy / sell for coins - much fairer rates

  • +3

Here's the real deal for how to do it properly (entering referrals, codes etc) for all those interested, START HERE FIRST or you'll wreck the code input order, clobber a referral. Make sure you activate the referral (use an OzBargain one from above) - resist the temptatin to enter HODL50 …. it will kill the referral.

I've listed it in the order you should read it.
    http://allaboutcelsius.com/what-order-should-i-enter-promo-c…
    http://allaboutcelsius.com/active-celsius-promo-codes/
    http://allaboutcelsius.com/how-to-add-promo-codes/

Then for loading fiat, coins etc - refer to my earlier post for least amount of transaction fees.

As mentioned, Binance is the best bet, quick turn around - Use Normal Mode (untick BinanceLite in the Binance app) for the best fiat to crypto conversion rates (current buy/sell rates, not APP/Site locked specific values) AUD/USDT, AUD/BNB etc.

    • Thanks so much ..! Helpful steps :)

    • So I signed up using a referral code and then stacked STABLE10 & STABLE50, but I only transferred in $250 USDC - did I mess up? Is there any way to get out of this?

Transfer additional $150 to meet the referral conditions? Then transfer another 250USDC to meet the STABLE ones?

      • +1

        Correct

        • +1

Thanks, got all 3 locked now.

      • No referral code needs to be $400+ on first transfer. You messed up.

  • When you are done getting your rewards stake your BNB for around 34% apy via trustwallet.

    • Where'd you get 34% from? Only states 11% on the website.

      • +1

        Doing it wrong. BNB > More > Stake > Validator > Stake2me

        69.14%

        • That seems too good to be true the highest I’ve seen is 34%.

          • @bobwokeup: Been that rate for a few days. Wonder if the rest will follow suit or they will be struck off.
