  • New domain registrations only. Not transfers. Meh, sorry.

    • Transfers are free for .com.au domains. Did you mean renewals?

      • Clearly.

These cost about $8.75 per year, then there's your GST, no-one is giving away renewals at this price without some kind of web hosting/site builder tool.

  • Given the history and state of this company probably not worth the savings.

    • You can purchase the domain then transfer it to your favourite registrar for free.

      • +1

I'm aware but to be honest I have access to wholesale pricing so it's definitely still in my opinion not worth it.

My post was also to service a general warning in regards to the history of this company even though they have new owners things still haven't seem to have changed much.

Also remember if you're a new customer you can get a free domain name still at VentraIP and they're also cheaper here and if you gonna go to all the trouble of transferring it out to a better registrar anyway why not save five more cents and the hassle of dealing with them.

  • Cheaper here as @Kyle-K mentioned: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/651173

  • Does this include DNS Hosting or is that additional? Couldn't see anything mentioned on the website in the FAQs.

    • After logging into a very old account from the NetRegistry days it looks like not much has changed and yes you do have to pay for DNS Hosting. Also have to pay for privacy still, however that's not applicable on a .au purchase.

To the new owners of Webcentral might be time for you guys to consider joining the modern registrar game and just start including the stuff for free like pretty much every other reputable registrar does in the industry now.

Additional question not asked by chigga that I'd be curious to know the answer to which is related to this is have you resolve the unreliable nature of your name servers?
