  • I'd wait for Cooler Master MH751/MH752 deals.

If you don't need a mic, just get the Takstar Pro 82 V2 from TakstarAudio Store on AliE for $70 after coupons and cashbacks.

AKG K361 at $100 on sale before cashbacks is also solid, but it's a drier sound signature than the rest of these.

      "Cooler Master MH751/MH752"

      Why?

      • -6

They use the same driver as the Takstar Pro 82 v2, but you'd have known that if you'd even done the quickest search on the product.

If you want a close approximation of the Takstar's detail and signature - which is fantastic for the price - and a mic, they're a good move.

I don't think there's another gaming headset worth your time and money, unless you're keen to step up to the Audeze Penrose, but there's plenty of great headphones and earphones from $10-$1500.

          Wrong wrong wrong wrong

          • -3

@umadbrahhhh: You're suggesting that the MH751 doesn't use the Takstar driver? This has been proven in both measurements and teardowns.

The rest is my opinion… and it's a lot more eloquent than your 5 character temper tantrum.

  • I use the HyperX Cloud II Wireless - great and reliable headset and the metal frame feels premium. The HyperX Cloud software is still in early stages and a bit buggy on PC. I use it for the ps5 and it's pretty much plug and play - however there is no visual indicator in regards to whether you're in 7.1 surround sound mode or not (only the pc software does that).

  • Bought these last week for $119 ahhhhh well

    • I am pretty sure Amazon has a price guarantee. If you're a Prime Member, you can reach out to their customer care team.

      • nope, they do not have this. depending on the customer service agent you talk to you might be able to convince them to give you credit on the difference but most of them don't as it's not part of their policy.

the best way to do it is actually to purchase another unit at the lower cost, and then lodge a return for the more expensive one. once your new one arrives just send that one back.

        • If you tell Amazon that you’re considering this usually they will save you the trouble and refund anyway.

          • @JSONBourne: That didn’t work for me. I have tried numerous times. They simply say to buy and return old one. It’s dumb and wasteful, but they don’t seem to care.

            • @Nitrous: Its not dumb at all, business wise. I tried and kept my item few times

    • How have they been? Decent sound for the price?

      • These are fantastic cans. I use them for PS5 gaming, PC gaming, work from PC for music most of the day and video chat meetings using the mic. I would buy them again without hesitation.

  • Also same price at Jb-hifi

Basically all hyperx headset models are on sale on JB, including the Hyperx Cloud Alpha, Flight etc.

    I have these, and I really like them, but I don't know if I'd pay $90 again…. $50-60 is a great price.

Definitely for gaming, not for music unless (like me) you're at the office and don't want to bring your nice set in where they can be damaged or stolen.

    • +4

Interesting as these seem to be the best headphones under $100 for gaming according to the vast majority of reviews.
I guess it doesn't translate to music.

      • They really are great… and I posted the same on this very website right after I bought them. But then, on the urging of another member, I listened again to my other set… my Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX's and now I can't really enjoy music on the HyperX's. But it's a flawed comparison because my Senny's are literally 4x the price. Especially including DAC and amp so… I dunno. These are great. Don't get me wrong. But for $100…. I would be looking at other options as well.

I DO really like them though. The mic is great, they're comfortable. But they don't feel like $100 'phones to me. $50-60 it would be an insta buy though.

      • Let me break it down for you: those articles make money off being high up in search results, and getting referral clicks to the products they list.

If you start mentioning actual headphones against these, the algorithm tends to punish your discoverability for what people might search for. It's a very dumb system.

But in truth, the better a headphone is for accurately recreating recordings, the better it's going to be for gaming. Gaming headsets tend to have really weird tuning, usually somewhat v-shaped with detail either sucked out or hyper-exaggerated to the point of being piercing, and they're not worth your time.

Find yourself another mic solution and spend your money better. Also consider this as a blanket statement for most ANC and bluetooth headphones unless you desperately need the features.

I would pay $100 for them anyday. Fantastic for Movies, Music, Gaming. Just tune the signature on the PC for music. They are heavy V shape, but I like it as I'm not critical listening to music from my PC/PS5 anyway. The mic is fantastic too. Comfort is incredible for me, I can wear it all day everyday.

      • +1

They really aren't great for music at all…

        • +1

For enthusiasts no, but for the 90% off ozb who are not, they will sound perfect with exaggerated bass, reduced mids etc

          • +1

@onlinepred: If you say so dude. Personally I think we're almost all enthusiasts, and everyone can appreciate good audio.

But glad you're happy with them.

            • +2

@Sxio: The most popular tws here is soundpeats and AirPods, and the most popular cans are xm3. That says it all really. Barely anyone here’s uses dacs or amps. I’d say most don’t even know the difference between open or closed cans. If people are here looking at these cans, they aren’t an enthusiast looking at a set of cans to use in their soundproof room to critically listen to music.

              I have m50x, dt880, bd game custom.

              • @onlinepred: Cool. So weird that you're recommending them for music but again, glad you like them.

                • +1

@Sxio: most people really just dont care as much as you think they do about audiophilia lol, like the other guy said most people will find the sound reproduction of this to be great, especially if they haven't got a big budget or know much about audio

  • these are okay but mine only lasted 2 years before having many things break (cable fray, mic stopped working (already was quiet to begin with and i had to use 3rd party software to boost it), pleather pads began to crack and peel so i swapped to velour which changed the sound significantly, headband pleather also faded/cracked)

ended up going the standalone headphones + separate mic setup and am much happier, proper headphones (as opposed to a gamer headset) often last much longer and are built better in my experience as i have had several "gaming" headsets break but none of my actual headphones have yet to break or show any signs of wear

  • I just bought this from JB hifi for $69 using https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666741
