        thanks for clarifying…

        User name checks out…

Great dashcam! Got it at $200ish during a sale.

    • Night video on the link does not look too good.

      What's your experience?

      • +2

Night is good for the price tag. Will try to upload something tomorrow so that people can check it out. I just havent been able to hide the wires. Have asked around and people are quoting more $100ish just to hide the wires.

        • +9

Oh it's super simple to hide the cables yourself. They give a pry tool for you to use. Definitely try it yourself before you give someone $100 to do a 15 minute job.

Hard wiring is super easy too - I followed this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etzweQqOGGc&list=PLSWaEENt8F…

I've done 4 cars in total and it is super simple. First car I was nervous and took my time but by the last car I did it myself in about 30mins.

  • Got them to replace the old $29 sca cheapies.

    Thanks

Waiting for the Duo Plus version to pull the trigger

    • Only diff is the 2k front camera? It is worth it? Or is there something else I’m missing? I’m wondering if I should wait or grab this

      • 60fps on the front as well with the 2k.

I went for the Plus for a clearer picture vs price

        • Great comparison. Really wished the A129 Plus was available when I purchased the original A129.

      • +1

A129 DUO uses sony IMX291 for both front and rear cam. A129 Plus uses sony IMX335 for front and IMX307 for rear which are both superior

        • Thanks everyone for all the comments. Will be waiting for the plus model :)

  • When does this deal expire

  • +4

If you do purchase this dashcam do know that the rear camera adhesive included in the box tends to fail in high heat during Australian summers. Bought some double sided mounting tape from Bunnings and haven't failed since.

    • +2

Same, just make sure you remove the rear camera from it's little mount when you apply the tape and leave the mount to stick for a few days before reattaching the rear camera.

  • 129 DUO Plus is the one to buy

    • Has it been that price before?

      • about 180-190

  • Waiting for a A129 Duo Plus. Hopefully some Black Friday deals!

  • +4

The a129 plus is definitely clearer but when it comes down to it both cameras show who smashed into you. People put a lot of emphasis on being able to read plates but most of the time it's hit and miss with both if you can read a plate when driving at a moderate speed.

Get either and you will be happy. The couple of times I've actually needed the footage due to a collision, they've come that close to hit you you've got there plate anyway. I have both and they are both great. Just avoid the 4k model due to over heating.

Oh and don't waste your time with buffered parking mode it's bs, just use low bit rate.

    • plus is 180-190 … too close to this

  • Anyone have installer suggestions in Brisbane? Want it to look professional etc and not sure I can achieve that myself.

    • Have a try first and see. As mentioned above from Leo, it's quite simple to do.

  • Can these dashcams output video?

  • what about warranty?will Viofo honour warranty from this site?

  • For anyone contemplating this for the first time, we should be adding the cost of hardwire kit & cable from front to back right? Any clever way to turn this into a reverse camera aswell? Thanks.

    • sorry, does that mean we need to buy additional things for this? Hardwire kit and cable?

      • +1

i believe the hardware kit is so you can connect to your fuse box inside your car, so when its off, the camera can detect motion & auto record, the cable it seems IS included so the back cam can talk to the front guy. (in Specs)

1 X Viofo A129-DG with GPS Model NEW ARRIVAL, Click Here
        1 X Front Camera
        1 X Rear Camera
        1 X Car Charger
        1 X Rear Camera Cable
        1 X Mini USB Cable
        1 X GPS Mount
        1 X Trim Removal Tool
        1 X Clips
1 X Sticker for Front Camera
1 X Sticker for Rear Camera
1 X Mounts for Rear Camera

so you need to factor in hardware kit IF you want the above feature - fair to say i believe hardware kits are always optional with these types of units..(it says around $26 in BG)

        • Ordered same one couple of years ago and I think they sent me hardwire kit as well.
          Was from ebay deal though

    • +2

Cable front to back is included. Hardwire kit is extra.
Not practical as a reverse camera. Screen is too small and there is no trigger wire to turn on the screen with reverse signal.

What's been stopping me from buying a dashcam and laziness is the GPS recording me possibly sometimes going over the speed limit.

I wouldn't want my insurance annulled if I have a permanent incapicitating injury whilst speeding on a five lane freeway on a sunny day with no cars visible for 500m because my partner water has broken. Whilst it's legal to speed under those circumstances it's very gray and as we all know some insurance companies can be assholes.

Does anyone have links to discussions to discuss the risks of this?

Maybe it's possible to have a dashcam and turn off GPS? But then it maybe possible to work out speed from the visual footage anyway?

    • I use a 70mai camera myself and have turned off the speed overlay because it's inaccurate. It still shows the GPS cords. I'm sure this could do the same.

    • It's legal to commit speeding offences in a medical emergency?

      • It's not legal to speed, however you could argue in court that it was a genuine medical emergency and you could be let off.

    • You can turn off the speed recording. It can work both ways. Once I had an issue in the parking lot when a guy perpendicular to me rammed onto my car when taking a reverse despite me honking. I was stationary full time. Though the other party did not accept their fault, NRMA clearly told that they were at fault provided I was stationary the whole time. In such cases, might be better to have the speed limit. But you can also prove that by showing no movement of your vehicle.

    • +2

In your scenario I think I would be more worried about what you have done to your partner and the baby when you had a crash whilst doing 100km/h+ that left you with permanent incapacitating injury.

      • Yeah I thought the same

      • Drive to the conditions mate.

speeding on a five lane freeway on a sunny day with no cars visible for 500m

        Sorry that should read:

speeding on a five lane freeway on a sunny day with visibility for 500m with no cars ahead.

It's very grey and edge cases

Whilst it could be argued the speeding was the greater risk then if the baby and wife died because of lack of medical care then how would you feel then?

I guess one should trust that the society immunity system would enable a fast response from emergency rescue - helicopter and quicker and safer transport to medical care.

    • you can just turn off the speedo display, or crop out the bottom of the video

  • Damn..just purchased the same one from Shopping Square yesterday for $175 delivered. Is there a way to cancel my order from SS?

  • Shipping to Sydney is AUD$7.41?

  • Choose standard delivery and it will become free.

    • Once I put the coupon code, the free shipping option disappeared.

      • Untick the shipping insurance. I tried just now again. The shipping fee should be free. I bought this this morning. It was free shipping.

        • Went to give it another try today. Looks like standard shipping is not available for certain postcodes.

  • The standard shipping option is removed at checkout, so you'll have to pay another $15 or so for express shipping and insurance.
